One day I heard a clicking while driving 65 on the highway. When I pulled into town and slowed down it stopped. I had to stop at a stop sign and when I started to go I heard the clicking again. A couple of days later I was on the highway again going 65, my engine reduced power and my check engine light came on and was blinking. When I stopped the vehicle at the stop sign and started to go so I could pull out of traffic it had a hard time getting power to go. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. I am waiting to hear back from then to figure out the issue, but from what I am reading online, it seems kia has alot of engine issues. Fingers crossed its under warranty and it can be fixed as I just spent $3000. 00 6 months ago for a new strut and an entire exhaust system. I only have $129,000 on this vehicle. Very disappointing.

I had my kia for 32 days when I was leaving the dealership from picking up the tag from southeastern auto, the check engine light came on all of a sudden. We were going down a very curvy highway running 45 to 50 mph. Mind you, no problem until then. We made 5 miles when it lost power. It wouldnt go over 35mph. We called the dealership and was told to stop and turn it off and back on, as it may be in limp mode. After we did that we were headed back to the dealership when it completely lost all power, then it sounded like grinded up metal and spit it out. Then it shut off and would not crank. We were right on the road, in a curve that was up hill. Where traffic was very flying both directions. It was terrifying waiting for the tow truck the dealership sent. They sent it to their mechanic in wilkesboro, who determined it threw a rod threw the motor. Now it's being towed to a kia dealership where they are supposed to put a new motor in it for $300bfrom.

The flashing check engine light came on my 2017 kia Sorento, the car went into limp mode, and would not drive over 20 mph. I was driving on an interstate at the time, and it was extremely dangerous to cross two highway lanes at 20 mph trying to pull over to the shoulder. The car was towed to burns auto shop. They pulled up code p1326 and said this was a known kia issue and a kia dealer should fix it for free. My car has 35,000 miles and is still under the 10 year/100,000 miles kia warranty. The car was towed to fred beans kia dealer in langhorne, PA, who refused to check it for 10 days. Kia refused to pay for a rental car (even retroactively) until the mechanic checked it - a huge inconvenience to my family of 6 who had to use 1 car for 2 weeks. When fred beans finally checked the car, they claimed to not be able to see the code. They conceded that what happened is a known kia issue and could happen again at any time. It's terrifying to know my car could at any time slow down to 20 mph on the highway. Despite kia's claims that the car could drive up to 55 mph with the code on, my speed plummeted to 20 mph within seconds and would not go up despite pressing the gas pedal for several minutes. Kia said my car's VIN was not among those affected by the recall. Yet, since the p1326 issue did happen to my car, my VIN should be included. Despite knowing of the issue, kia and its dealers refuse to take my family's safety seriously. They both suggest I keep driving �until it happens again�. After reading online reviews, it's clear kia and its dealers routinely try to avoid fixing problems covered by warranty. Kia claims they have no control over their authorized dealers. Yet, it's kia's responsibility to pay for issues covered under warranty. I'd like kia to fix the known code p1326 problem, so I can enjoy full use of my car without expecting it to malfunction at any moment.

My 2013 Sorento stalls randomly for no reason for about half second like engine skipping power for a micro moment and than keeps running. This happens at least 3-4 time a week but there is no open recall on my VIN. Last time it happened when I was driving on highway with 60 miles/hour and it stalled and rpm needle went to 0 but car keeps running. I took it to dealer and they started investingating. There is not check engine light or error code. Dealer duplicated problem once but then nothing. They opened technical case with kia with no result. There is a pcm recall on stalling for pcm update from kia back in 2014 but my VIN doesn't fall under it so they are not ready to perform any recall process on it. No help from kia at all. Finally after almost 3 weeks I brought my Sorento back from dealer saying "if it happens again bring it back and we will check again". Dealer keeps charging diagnostic fee every time I go. I think kia doesn't for customer safety and don;t think what happens if vehicle stalls and stops on highway what happens to the people. They are playing with people's lives. I see thousands of people complaining on various forum for the same issue but again same thing their VIN doesn't fall under recall though it is a same problem.

I was returning home from a trip (traveling @~70 mph) when I suddenly lost all power and had to coast to the shoulder on the sb 5 fwy. I was fortunate as there were many large trucks and other vehicles which I was able to avoid. As I came to a stop the car shut off and I was unable to restart it. 12 hours later and hundreds of dollars in towing fees, I had my mechanic take a look and was told the engine had seized. What!!! I had recently had a scheduled oil change and was not due for a couple of thousand miles. This all occurred without warning: no check engine light, low pressure oil indicator, or even overheating temperature. Waiting to get it back from my mechanic where I will park it and continued to make payments on a vehicle that cosmetically looks great but is worthless. Quick quote for new engine and labor is about 6 to 7k. I have a feeling this is the beginning of a nightmare that starts with a k and end with an IA.

Engine started knocking and lost some power darning driving. The check engine light came on. This is the 3. 3l gdi engine. This engine is not part of the sc147 recall. I take good care of my cars. I believe the issue I'm having is due to a defect in the manufacturing process. We have a 2012 Hyundai sonata that was covered under a different recall. It initially passed the recall test. The engine failed later with the same symptoms I'm having with the 2014 kia. Something is not right.

My vehicle is only 5 years old and has 70,000 miles on it. I was driving on the highway and then all of a sudden my vehicle would not accelerate. My check engine light can on and continued to blink--which is not a good sign and indicates obvious serious engine issues. There is no way a car that new with that many miles should have engine issues.

Was told the engine was completely shot. This is common with kia engines as my research has shown. My make and model have had recalls but not my VIN#. Seems however I have the same problem. Why was my engine not recalled? I'm lucky I wasn't seriously harmed but now I'm left without a car and fear loosing my job bc I don't have a way to commute 35 minutes to work now.

I had about 62,500 miles on the vehicle. We were driving down the highway and it was just blowing cold air from the heater. The vehicle started to stall and rapid decellerate. Thankfully the highway wasn't too busy and we just made it across the lanes to the shoulder; it could've been very tragic if we got stuck in a lane, especially since there was no warning with a check engine light before this. The vehicle was smoking. We got it towed to a repair shop and they confirmed it was overheating but couldn't diagnosis full engine issue. We had to get to a kia dealer to do an engine tear down. They found 6 threads stripped and decided then it needs a new engine. We've consistently done our oil changes and maintenance so is very concerning how quickly and severely this engine issue came up. Unfortunately we are just past the 60k mile warranty and kia is willing to only offer minor assistance despite evidence of other vehicles having similar engine issues.

Today I was driving home from work and everything was fine. I stopped at the grocery store and I finished there and I was making my way home. I got about 3 or so miles away from my home and I noticed my oil light was on. So I pulled over to check the oil and everything was fine. I didn't see a need to have it towed thought it was telling me it was time for an oil change. I proceeded one and I got about a mile or so from my house I'm at a stop light and now my check engine light is on along with my oil light. Then all of a sudden it just died right in front of the traffic light. I called a tow truck and had it towed. They had looked at it and found that the engine had no oil pressure and the engine was shot. I needed a new one. I still owe more than the vehicle is worth. Someone needs to look into this.

Since 2/2020 I have been back and forth to the dealership multiple times for my check engine light. The dealership has replaced multiple different parts but the light continues to come back on. The dealership has been in contact with kia corporate mechanics and they do not seem to know what the problem is as well. I am very frustrated because I have also reached out to kia corporate office and they have been of no assistance. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and has voiced this concern multiple times.

Engine failed at 118,813, no check engine light came on. I have maintanied my vehicle with all proper service since owning vehicle. The dealership is saying they will not cover the engine and want to charge me over $11,000 to replace.

On 1/28/2020 at 8 pm during a snow storm, I had been driving north on hwy 41 and had entered the city of marinette and was driving approximately 20 miles per hour. I made a right turn onto a city street and suddenly with no warning the engine just stopped. No check engine light no nothing. I managed to coast over to the side of the road and attempted without success to restart the vehicle. I contacted kia and was told they would not consider assisting me with any repairs unless the vehicle was inspected by a dealer. I paid $200 to have the vehicle towed approximately 65 miles to dorsch Ford in green bay wisconsin, the dealer where it was purchased. I was informed the engine had seized up and would have to be replaced at my expense for approximately $10,000 as the warranty had recently expired. I contacted kia again to inquire about a safety recall (sc147) that I had learned about online where the 2012 kia Sorento was experiencing catastrophic engine failure due to a machining issue with the engine during manufacturing that caused bearings to wear resulting in engine seizure. I was advised this recall was only for the 4 cylinder models not the 6 cylinder which is what I purchased. I could not afford to purchase a new engine for this vehicle. The dealer offered me $100 to junk it. I paid approximately $30,000 for the car and it was serviced diligently at the dealer. My local mechanic suggested replacing the engine with a used engine with more than 100,000 miles on it for $5000 from another vehicle but was advised I would only have a 90 day warranty and the same thing could happen. I did not think this was a very good idea so the vehicle is sitting in my garage.

Driving to work this past Tuesday 12/24/2019, while driving my car did this jerk move and then all the electrical signs popped up I couldn't brake or steer my stirring wheel . Its as if my car locked up on me. Luckily I was able to turn off a side road avoiding on coming traffic. And but the car in park. I was stuck for 2 hours. My check engine light was the only light that stayed on. I couldn't start the car at all. Luckily I called my cousin to see if she could try and give me a jump too see if it worked. In which it did I then took my vehicle up to auto zone where they out it on the diagnostic machine. Where my battery and alternator were fine. It was very scary for this vehicle to have shut off on me like this I am just glad I was not on the highway or it could have been a really bad outcome for me. Engine seized with no warning. Complete engine failure. We have maintained the vehicle and have had no prior issues. The engine seized at 90,000 miles driving down the road. The check engine light never came on. We have the 100,000 mile warranty and kia has not covered the repairs to the engine. We were advised we need a new engine.
