1 Engine Grinding Noise problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 02/14/2020

Was driving on state highway while passing slower moving vehicles. Car shut off while moving at 60-65mph while overtaking vehicles. Pulled off to the side of the highway as far as possible as the car had shutoff completely. Tried to restart the car and the car would not begin the starting process at all. It sounded like a semi-grinding noise and click. Had the vehicle towed to mechanic and they have determined that the engine seized and is blown. Car has approximately 85k miles.

2 Engine Grinding Noise problem of the 2015 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 12/08/2019

After last oil change aprox. 3 months ago. No issues until last week when SUV would sound like it's accelerating really fast but not going very fast. On startup I kept hearing a squealing and grinding sound. One day out driving without any warning lights or anything my car seems to loose power if I took my foot off gas. Took it to mechanic who said the engine needs to be replaced. When using the machine to read codes it read p0014 and p0024 (camshaft positioning sensors) was told to check wires and sensors didn't seem to be the ultimate problem. During it's last visit to the mechanic it drained out 2 quarts of oil but no oil had been leaking anywhere. Crude was inside the oil check tube.

4 Engine Grinding Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

On December 21, 2018 I called to make a appointment to have my SUV recall taken care of. They set me up with a appointment January 3, 2019 at 9:00am. Well I make it to my appointment on time and hand the keys over to the service department, they tell me it should take about 45mins to a hour. 2 hours later my SUV is done and they said it is fine and that they changed my oil. I appreciate the oil change but I just had it change not even a 1,000miles ago. Any ways, I get in my SUV and drive home, it's driving and running normal, just like it was before I brought it in, normal. Takata recall on January 4, 2019 at 8:20pm I'm driving back home from shopping at to wal-mart, when my SUV shuts off completely, my lights were still on, all the lights on the dash came on, I put my flashers on and coast to the side of the road. I put it in park, turn the SUV off, then I try to start it, would not start, so I turn it off and try again, it struggled to start but it started up. I put it in drive and countie heading home. I get 1mile and it does it again. So I did just like did the first time and same results. Finally I made it home. The next day I go to call the dealership, but I'm told the service department is closed on weekends. Well I've been remodeling my home myself and I forget to call kia, my car wasn't acting weird so I kind of forgot about it. Takata recall until January 11, 2019 7:36pm I drive to go drop my child off to his mother and I hear a taping noise under my hood, but it only made it that one time so I paid no mind to it. Takata recall January 21,2019 7:21pm I'm driving on my way home on a back road that is a short cut from where I was coming from. An I hear this little grinding noise, and then the taping noise I heard before but it was louder and it didn't stop. My check engine started flashing so I pull over and call for help. My other half said its a rod bearing.

5 Engine Grinding Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 11/26/2018

Was driving home from work on 11-26-18, about a mile out of town when my car made a really high pitch squeal sound followed by a terrible grinding sound, pulled in to the closest business to it knocking and it had stalled right where it was parked, have I not pulled into the parking lot it would have stalled on a county highway at 60 mph. Had it towed in to a dealership on the morning of 11-27-18, they said it is engine failure. The 2012 kia Sorento doesn't even have 90,000 miles on it yet and gets regular maintenance and oil changes so there really is no reason for this to have happened. It was a perfect running vehicle without ever having any issue with it what so ever, no signs of anything going out either, not even a dash indicator light! have read numerous accounts of this happening all over the internet, there's a recall out for this type of thing but my car isn't in the batch that was recalled???!!! I think this is absurd!.

9 Engine Grinding Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 06/17/2017

Kia Sorento engine recall - my car was delivered to the dealership on 6/17 due to engine failure which was associated with the recall. They called me to pick up my car on 8/19. After exiting the lot, I continued to hear the metal grinding sound in the engine area to the right of the passenger side, additional noises could be heard in the rear axle and an extremely tight steering wheel when turning. I immediately called the dealer and spoke with the service manager who asked that I return the vehicle. I returned it on Monday morning, 8/21 and waited 3 hours while they checked the car. The manager then informed me that I needed a new steering shaft which would cost me $518. My car did not have a tight steering wheel when I last drove it before being towed into the dealership lot. The technicians had to pull my car apart to replace the engine and adjusted my steering shaft, which they are unwilling to repair or replace. In addition, kia also owes me over $900 for a previous repair and two expenses that was originally submitted on 6/21. As I continue to keep a log of all my calls to kia and the dealer to make my case against the company. The car has not improved with a refurbished engine, it has become worse, which places me and my family in danger. I have given all the documentation to my attorney to file a formal complaint with the company and with the necessary regulatory body. My car was working efficiently before breaking down and I would like to be reimbursed and my car fixed or replaced.
