Steering is sticky when making slight correction. Happens every time I drive. The speed does not matter. Happens at all speeds.

The steering has at times become sticky for lack of s better term. Turning the wheel, even slightly, feels hard to turn and then will release and cause slight over-correcting. It feels like something is preventing the steering column from turning and then it will let go and turn freely. When this happens it will happen repeatedly on the same outing and is not just a one time occurrence.
Steering is sticky/tight especially when going into a curve. Had dealer check it and they said they couldn’t find why it was doing it and that it was okay there was no accident and still driving the car.

My car has been giving me problems for about three months now and we’ve changed about four or five parts on the engine/transmission and it’s still acting up. We’ve called the kia dealership several times to alleviate the problem but they are giving us the runaround about the three recalls that pulled up for the 2015 kia sorrento and they saying that we have to pay $150 for diagnostic per recall, which I don’t understand that if it’s not our fault then they should cover the diagnostic and the recall. We’ve contacted them on several occasions about the situation with my brake lights being on after I turn my car off and they stay on until my battery is almost dead. They don’t want to fix the hecu I believe the electric short that kia have been experiencing. This car is the worst car I’ve ever had. I’ve never had to experience anything close to what I’m experiencing with kia. They are an absolute disgrace it’s almost like they’re trying to pocket diagnostic money for themselves because there’s no way I have to pay almost $500 for three recalls, that’s no fault of our own. If I had the money to get another car, I would. They told us that we can trade it in if we come with a higher down payment, but I’m not able to do that right now so I’m just trying to get my car fixed until I’m able to do so. Please help us get our car fixed and the recalls serviced because andrew at kia country of savannah sounds like he’s irritated because we’re trying to get down to the bottom of them getting the recalls done. It’s like he’s just telling us anything to try to avoid doing the recalls. They also stated that when the car was dropped off, they didn’t find anything pertaining to the recalls whether y’all find anything or not you know that there are recalls for that particular car just fix it. Please help. We are not gonna stop until the car is fixed. I’m gonna keep reaching out. I’m gonna keep calling up there to see when it can be done because it’s costing us money that we don’t have.

Steering column separated while on cruise control at 70mph.
The contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 2- 4 mph on a bumpy driveway, the front end of the vehicle and the steering started shuddering violently. Additionally, the contact had noticed that the steering wheel had become abnormally loose, and there was significant play in the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the steering coupler had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Steering on car felt sticky or as if power steering was not working. It seems to be an intermittent problem occurring mostly at highway speeds of approximately 60 mph. It seems to be a safety issue because steering feels unresponsive to feel of steering wheel. Dealer says that I will have to bring it in where they can diagnose to confirm. If problem continues I will take it in to be checked. Vehicle has not given any warnings or indications of problems/service needed. The problem was first noticed on 02/12/2024 and then again on 02/23/2024.

Brakes feel softer, rear brake burnt smell, replaced brakes one month ago. Headlight and taillight bulbs replaced several times in last 3 months due to blinking blowing replaced and starts over again. Screen will not turn on until car has run for 45 minutes. Cannot use back until screen turns on. Leaving car parked until I can get brake system fixed. Noticed brake light on dash and car with swerve light on dash. Too scared to drive until at least brakes are fixed. Reached out to dealership. No part available for recall which most likely is failing my brakes.

When driving and turning the steering wheel in to a curve the steering wheel sticks and I have to jerk the wheel back this has occurred on separate occasions the latest today.
The contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed a popping sound that came from the steering column. The contact stated that the failure occurred when making a turn. The contact stated that when the failure first started that it would occur intermittently, however the failure had become persistent. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a fractured steering column and the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the independent mechanic did not provide the full diagnostic report. The contact was informed that the steering column would need to be disassembled in order to receive a complete diagnostic report. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
I was driving my car to work when my check engine light came on and starting flashing. I made it to work just unable to go over 30mph because it felt like it was in fail safe mode. That afternoon I spoke with kia affairs and the lady advise me to go to autozone and get it diagnosed after work. Well after work I went to go to autozone and barely made it half a mile before it felt like it was going to die. So I turned to go back to turn around to back to work in the parking lot next door. When I turned it felt like I had no control over where my car was going like I had no traction control even though I did not hit any patches of ice.
On January 17 2024 as I am making my usual drive to work on a very busy interstate highway my 2016 kia Sorento ex v6 fwd auto 3. 3 liter engine completely seizes up and so begins my nightmare. The same nightmare I am seeing time and time and time again reported on this site, and every site you do a simple search on 2016 kia Sorento's for. As a result of the catastrophic engine failure, I (a female, original owner of the kia,) was left in a very dangerous position to try and maneuver through and not be killed by oncoming cars and further not get jumped in a very bad part of the metro. (this is not my personal assessment, this is the highest crime area in our city) car was towed to dealership where I originally purchased it and today I received the diagnosis report indicating alternator replacement $1,283. 94, head gasket $4,276. 92, body control module/ ecu $1,030. 35 (an issue that I raised when the car was under the manufacturer warranty, and was ignored by the service team and results in me using a screw driver to even get the car out of park) I want answers as do all of the other impacted customers as to what more is needed to prove that kia engines are dangerous and need to be taken off the street!.
The component that malfunctioned was the dashboard. The dashboard began flashing and caused the wheels on the kia Sorento to lock while on the highway. The car also had a burn smell. The car was turned off and then I was able to drive normally. A couple of weeks later the malfunction indicator light has turned of intermittently. The electrical issues are causing the cars blind spot warning system to not work properly and as well as seats to stop moving in the car. I have reached out to kia customer care line so that they could tow the vehicle once the mil came on and they said they I would have to pay out of pocket since the recall is in the "interim" phase. I called southern kia in chesapeake, va and they stated the car would have to be evaluated but that they do not have appointments any time soon.

For the last few weeksi have been experiencing problems with the steering wheel feeling like it's sticking while driving. It might happen on a straight roadway, but its mostly noticeable on curves, like rounabouts. I can hold the steering wheel around a slight curve and if I need to move it to the right slightly to keep in line with the curve then it jerks a little to get out of that position. I'll take it to the dealer for other recalls and I hope they'll take care of this as well. . .
Continuous issues with "sticky" or "notchy" steering. Steering is not smooth and almost caused several accidents.
When in motion and at higher rates of speed, the vehicle’s steering wheel gets stuck and requires additional force to turn which causes an over correction. This is a consistent problem that happens.
Steering column vibrates when on uneven surfaces. Also makes noise when turning wheel. Shakes when braking. I believe it is a problem with the steering column coupling. The mdps steering coupling is probably worn. This is an ongoing problem with kia vehicles such as this.
I was driving when the esc electronic stability control kept going on. Then all of a sudden the pedal and brake would start to shake and not work. Randomly driving when light would go on and then the pedal and brake would shake. I had to pull over. Light would go on and off. Roads were dry normal no issues.

When driving down the road at any speed in a striaght line steering sticks requiring constant over correction. This is becoming a big problem at highway speeds as vehcile will jerk and on an icy road im affaid I my lose control.
Steering wheel has a sticky feeling, especially on the highway traveling at faster speeds. The wheel gets stuck in certain positions and then over exerts when you turn the wheel back. Overall, the steering wheel feels unstable.
While driving there is a loud squeak that is coming from the steering column on the left side. The dealerships cannot reperform because it only happens about 60% of the time when driving. We have brought the vehicle in twice now and both times the dealership could not recreate the noise. Many people are having the same issue with the 2022 and 2023 kia models. They have speculated on what is causing the sound. One individual that was able to get their dealership to work on it said their dealership had to replace the "power pack" which is a steering column control module. Another individual said that their dealership had to emergency order a new steering column to replace it. Each of these makes me believe that there is an issue that kia is not addressing that is putting the lives of drivers at risk. If the steering control module goes out while driving it could cause the driver to be unable to turn normally and cause an accident, or if something breaks within the steering column that restricts the movement of the steering wheel an individual could go off the road or hit someone. Steering issues are extremely dangerous to the driver and the general public, so I am hopeful that this will help get the ball moving on finding out what is going on with these steering columns before a serious accident occurs. Thank you.
At driving speeds steering catches with no control for a few seconds during slight turns. Has happened multiple times. Took to mechanic and was told there was an overheat code showing that could only be resolved through kia software. Took to kia dealership in st. Cloud, minnesota, and was told it would resolve by putting in an actual kia battery, $500+. Had no issues for 2 months then happened twice. Took back to the same dealership and was told needed new steering column $1,000+. As of today, my sorrento is at the dealership in st. Cloud, minnesota waiting for part. 6/24/2024.
There is a loud squeaking sound that sounds like a rodent or bird that occurs intermittently at cold temperatures from the steering column. It has been mentioned in several forums and facebook communities. Some dealers are aware, others are not. The repair requires a steering column replacement according to those who have had service completed. Dealers are requiring they directly hear the issue despite recorded video proof. I have a copy of my issue in hand.
The contact owns a 2023 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, there was an abnormal squealing sound coming from the steering wheel and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle received an unstated repair; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,328.
The steering is sticky. When on the highway you have to keep correcting the steering because the wheel seems to be sticking then moving. As a result you can not just go straight down the road but have to keep putting in steering corrections!!!!! this needs to be addressed! this is an ongoing problem , not just on one date.
Steering jerks to left at highway speeds. Feels like motor driven power steering is causing this and leads to over correctional at highway speeds. Also rear end noise when turning at slow speeds.

Steering wheel sticking when driving. Kia replaced the steering column assy-steering and the gear and linkage assy. Steering is some better but still the sticking.
While driving, the front end of the car made a thud sound and vibrated, the lights on the panel came on, the engine light, battery light, key light, and the steering wheel locked up. This happened 3 times in a week. If we had been going faster it could have caused an accident because of car suddenly slowing down and loss of steering. After turning off and then back on it worked again but never know when it could happen again. Yes my car is available upon request. No codes come up when our mechanic diagnosed it, hasn't been to a kia dealership yet, can't get in until Nov. 6. Refer to article "2011 kia sorrento's problems with sudden surging and engine stalls led to 7 investigations, 6 recalls. " my mechanic referred us to this article as he thinks our car has a related problem. This problem happened without any warning.
Steering sticking,.
On 9/14/2023 I stopped at an intersection to wait for traffic to clear. Upon entering the intersection a large yellow warning notification indicating a problem with the steering system was illuminated. Simultaneously the power steering system was apparently disabled. I was only able to steer the car with great effort. Fortunately I was stopped just before this happened so I was going less than 5 mph. I continued to a parking lot where I was able to stop safely. I parked, shut off the vehicle, and restarted. The yellow warning notification was cleared the power steering returned to normal function. The problem has not returned in more than 50 miles of subsequent driving. There was no accident as a result of this failure. On 9/24/2023 the vehicle was taken to a kia dealership. They diagnosed the problem as a "cs126008 steering angle sensor circuit / c126002 steering angle sensor circuit / torque sensor error". To fix this problem it was recommended to replace the complete steering column with motor and module. As this is not covered by warranty I intend to maintain control of the replaced components.
When driving my kia the steering wheel is sticking. At first it was just ever now and then. But now it it’s happening everyday. There is a recall for 2018 models doing the same thing. I pretty sure this is the same part and should be covered under the recall.
Clunking and sticking steering wheel due to rubber coupling that connects electric steering motor to steering column disintegrates. The dealer acknowledges that there is a mass wide issue with this component failure, but says it is not covered under warranty past 60k miles, nor is there a recall, but there are TSB’s regarding it. This problem clearly puts drivers of these vehicles and surrounding motorist in danger of head on collisions.
For months now I have been experiencing problems with the steering wheel feeling like it's sticking while driving. It can happen on a straight roadway, but mostly notice it on curves, especially a long stretch of road. I can hold the steering wheel around a slight curve and if I need to move it to the right slightly to keep in line with the curve then it jerks a little to get out of that position. It happens every time whether moving the steering wheel left or right. Last time it happened I said I wasn't going to drive the car anymore because it's unsafe. It got stuck around a curve and took more tug on the steering wheel to get it to move the tires in the direction I needed. There's so many other complaints online about this very problem from other kia owners around the 2017 models. I've taken it to the dealer twice for this and they never experienced the problem because they just drove around the lot and did a rapid back and forth on the steering wheel. You have to be driving it on a longer stretch of road when you can get it up to faster speeds where it's more noticeable.
