1 Water Pump problem of the 2016 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 08/21/2018

We bought our car from carvana June 19, 2018. On June 27th the vehicle wasn't responding to acceleration. It was stalling. It would go into reverse but as soon as I put it in drive it would stall. Upon inspection the service person heard a noise coming from the belt area. Upon further inspection they found the water pump leaking profusely covering the splash shield. The sop water pump and gasket were removed and replaced. They topped off the coolant and test drove the vehicle and it began operating as designed. On August 21, 2018, the car started hesitating when I pressed the accelerator while driving on the freeway during rush hour traffic. After it had been parked all day I backed the car out of the parking garage and once I put the car in drive it stalled. Again, I started the car, accelerated and the car stalled as I was entering the freeway. I had to pull over to a side parking lot and call roadside assistance. The car was towed to horne kia. The service attendant called and explained the the high performance fuel pump was not moving fuel into the motor causing the stalling. I asked if this was connected to the the other stalling issue and he said, no, not at all. I feel that there is a serious safety concern and I would like this to be looked into as a possible recall issue. I'm consistently having a stalling issue. The on board car diagnostics is not detecting an issue. This is a 2016 kia Sorento with 30k miles.

2 Water Pump problem of the 2005 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

I purchased a 2005 kia Sorento in November 2013 from dealership. In June 2014 I had the first incident. While driving on a highway, suddenly all warning lights came on, power steering was lost. I was able to pull over without incident. Had to be towed. Had the problem fixed: crankshaft sensor, warped pulley, sheered bolt on said pulley, resulting in more damage, including water pump and timing belts. Two weeks later the same thing occurred, again while I was driving in town. My mechanic said it is a defect in the kia design. Two weeks later got it fixed. Now ten months later the same problem occurs, again while driving. Each time this has cost me $2,000 to fix. I still owe $4,500 on the vehicle! since repairing with kia parts and the problem is never solved due to poor design, kia really needs to step up and issue recall. Same problem 3 times in less than a year! please help!.

3 Water Pump problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 10/19/2013

2013 kia Sorento lx - v6 awd purchased 3/2013. On 10/19 at 11. 5k miles on vehicle the transmission slipped and then lost most function at 45 mph . Car limped home with check engine light on and spewing fluid. He next morning (sat)called kia roadside service and had car towed to nearest dealer. The dealer took vehicle and notified me later in the day transmission would be and ordered on Monday. I was notified that car would be repaired with new trans and car would be ready on wed. The dealer called me a said the water pump was corroded and was out of coolant. A water pump was replaced and trans. I picked up the car on thurs and noticed fluid under the car the next morning. Took the car back to the dealer the next morning, he stated they overfilled and now the problem solved (fri) y confidence shaken and not feeling safe, I traded in the vehicle (got fair market value) ,for a leased newer model. I have lost $7,000 for owning the vehicle 7. 5 months, with 11. 5k miles. I am arguing with Kia Motors foursome compensation, but their attitude is they will not do anything, suggested dealer discussion. I am continuing a dialoguewith kia, they need to be responsible.

4 Water Pump problem of the 2006 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 03/20/2013

System was in the shop for routine maintenance I. E. New spark plugs, drive belts, and spark plug wires. Picked up the vehicle and drove fine for a day. Upper cat converter got clogged. . . Things just went down hill from there. Crankshaft seal busted, oil pump failed, water pump had to be replaced. Engine rods started knocking. Engine has to be rebuilt. Have been unable to drive my Sorento since March 2013. Bought the Sorento in October 2012. Just had the Sorento in the shop for engine rebuild. Had money set aside from tax returns. I paid the original quoted amount to have the rebuild done. It is costing me $2000 in addition to the base cost that was originally quoted. I don't have that kind of money just laying around for those types of repairs. Oh well. . . Guess I won't be driving my car for another whole year. Oh. . . One more thing. . . . Since I am the second owner kia refused to service the vehicle without them wanting over $8000 for a new motor. . . Fyi. . . . Kia warranty's and bbb are both worthless. .

7 Water Pump problem of the 2004 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 03/30/2012

Summary: I was driving along the interstate at aprox. 65 mph. I heard a ticking noise and looked at the dash. No warning lights my friend asked if the car felt like it was losing speed and it was I immediatly pulled over. Moving to the emergency lane the engine stalled. None of the guages indicated anything wrong , and even after the engine failed the engine check light does not light up, none of the safety indicators light up. The vehicle has 75,000 miles only 13,000 of which I am responsible for. I am not covered under the warranty because I am not the original owner which is ridicualous in itself because the warranty should cover mileage as it states not owners. However, this problem occurred because of the fluid leaking out of the water reservoir/or possibly a failed water pump that kia knows will fail. If kia was aware of this problem and did not issue a recall, knowing that this could cause serious engine problems or death, why are they not responsible for this motor? the repairs are going to cost more than 5000 dollars this should not be tolerated. If you spend any money on a vehicle, change the oil every 3 to 5 thousand miles follow all safety recalls, you should expect more than 75,000 miles out of it. Kia should be held accountable! I have contacted a lawyer in this matter I believe that kia knows its vehicles are faulty and are waiting for the cost of lawsuits against them to increase to be more than the cost of a recall for this problem, before they do anything to rectify the issues.
