1 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2001 Land Rover Discovery Ii

Failure Date: 12/11/2007

We purchased a 01 Land Rover discovery in August of 2004 from Land Rover of austin, TX. The vehicle was appraised by usaa and purchased with the assumption that the vehicle had a clean history report. On 12/11/07, we went to carmax and had the car appraised as a trade-in and the vehicle was appraised for $1,700. This was because before we purchased the vehicle it was declared a lemon in the state of California. Then it was shipped to texas and sold here as a clean vehicle. The lemon status was not disclosed to us or usaa at the time of purchase. Now we owe $14,000 more than the car is worth. We are having to file a lawsuit against Land Rover for punitive damages due to non-disclosure and misinformation.

3 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2001 Land Rover Discovery Ii

Failure Date: 11/18/2007

Abs/ tc/ hill descent light elumination, (3 amigo lights), would indicate there is an abs failure, when taking vehicle to dealer seems to be common occurance with vehilce and can range from abs modulator failure to a sensor. However in my case it was a sensor, or a part (harness overlay) that needs to be installed. While the lights are elluminated, the traction control and the hill decent features of the vehicle do not function, which when in my opinion the traction control could have an adverse effect on the way the abs could funciton or traction on slick surfaces. Have not had the item repaired as of today's date. Dealer will not warranty the repair if after market brake pads are used and installed recently.

4 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1999 Land Rover Discovery Ii

Failure Date: 11/01/2007

In Nov of 2007, brakes failed at slow speeds causing a low speed crash, still expensive damage. Abs and tc lights came on. Fixed was told that it was failure of brake booster. Less than three thousand miles later happened again and now abs, tc and downhill warning light is on. Is so common that it has a nickname. "the three amigos" you can search "three amigo's + landrover" on google and find hundreds of people who have had the same issue. When this happens abs is not functioning and stopping is not normal. This is a huge concern and I believe is connected to the 2 brake recalls already. This needs be recalled and creates un-safe driving.

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

I have a 1999 Discovery Ii. The abs warning lights on the dash have always been on; nicknamed as you might already know "the three amigos" by thousands of Land Rover owners. The three amigos refers to the three warning lights on dashboard: abs, tc-traction control, downhill descent. I was told by the local dealer in encino, CA it was the abs modulator. They didn't put it on paper, but they said verbally if you don't get the "abs modulator replaced, you will have brake failure. Yet, Land Rover won't recall it. Tens of thousands of people have complained about the "three amigos", caused by the abs modulator. This is not an isolated case. Next time you drive by a 1999 Land Rover, look on their dashboard, and you will see 3 warning lights on. Land rover, needs to recall this, and replace the abs modulator.

I have a problem with the abs system on my 2000 Land Rover discovery. From what I've read, this is a very common problem that has not been covered by any warranty or recall. The repair is over $700 to be fixed properly at a dealership. Land rover should stand behind their product more, and fix this problem under a recall since it seems to be such a common problem.

15 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2000 Land Rover Discovery Ii

Failure Date: 04/14/2004

Various warning lights activated including abs light, indicating failure of the systems on my 2000 Land Rover Discovery Ii. Privately retained mechanic identified the ecu as the problem and also located a recall notice regarding this problem. Local Land Rover dealership stated that the recall was not valid and that "they put these on the internet all the time. " Land Rover north America was contacted via e-mail and telephone message and has not responded. I purchased the vehicle new and the only recall I have recieved concerned the accelleration cable shortly after I purchased the vehicle in 2000. Apparently the local dealership finds NHTSA recalls as "things on the internet" not requiring any action. This is probably to be expected from our local dealership. However, the non-response from Land Rover north America was unexpected.
