"NHTSA recall campaign 04v005000" on the abs valve cover bolt. After having the abs modulator assembly valve covers strengthened and the retaining bolts replaced, the consumer was unable to stop the vehicle completely when the brake was applied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, but mechanic could not duplicate the problem. The consumer stated that the brakes failed twice within a 10 month period. The consumer stated that the brakes were noisy.

Consumer wanted to back vehicle up 3-4 feet, when he applied brakes, there was a rattling sound from abs system and pedal went to the floor. Vehicle hit another vehicle. Brakes had failed the same way twice before. Damage to both vehicles was 4000 dollars. Recall 02v02200 repairs were done before this accident. Since reporting the previous, the vehicles brakes failed again. Consumer put foot on the brake so he could shift gears. The vehicle started to roll forward while brakes were depressed. Consumer placed car in park and pumped brakes. The brakes were operable after that.
