Takata recall. . . I received the recall notice several months ago. . . Was told they did not have part at dealership and would be done later in year. Called again 8/17/17. . . Told still do not have part. . They are up to year 2010 for repairs . . . And told to call back in a few months. In the meantime, they said all I could do is to not have anyone ride in passenger seat. . . Very inconvenient to do for a year.

My only complaint is that I have been advised not to carry a passenger and am offered condolences for the inconvenience, but this problem has been known for nine months with no resolution. That is a long time to either not carry a passenger or worry if I do.

Takata recall. Dealer tells me not to drive car with front passenger, does not have parts/ability to fix the problems and offers me car rental until resolution. However, in order to accept the rental car, I must agree not to drive my own car at all even when I am alone. I explain I am alone 99. 9% of the time but have children and other guests coming to visit on three different occasions this summer and that would be the only time I would have front seat passengers and the only time I would not be able to use my car in its current condition. I am told by dealer's representative I must sign documents stating I will not drive my car at all once I am given a rental. I am also told dealer may not be equipped to repair/correct the problem until some time late fall 2017, which means I will have to drive a rental for 5 or 6 months while my own car sits idly. I don't understand why I can't drive my own car when I am alone and why I must 'commit' to a rental for the entire length of time. They will not offer me the same type of car either.
I purchased this vehicle on 6?30/2017 at kuni Lexus of porland,or (canyon rd) I was made aware of this recall from the 'recall results page of NHTSA) however no where does the "recall results" document indicate that the manufacturer (takata) has not developed the remedy to the recall (only that if a the manufacturer fails to remedy I can file a complaint. ) I was told today 7/10 the fix has not even been developed yet. Is this true? I was made to believe it would be something relatively easy to fix and could be scheduled in the future. My dealership cannot tell me what timeframe I am looking at. They said now for the first time that I shouldn't have a passenger ride in the front passenger seat. ** there an eta. . . And estimated time to expect development on the fix for the passenger airbag?*** I was promised by the salesman that I could have the airbag fixed when I brought the car back for detailing (I was asked to take the car off the lot and bring it back later for detailing. ) finding out now more about possibly having to wait a long time or never be able to get the airbag replaced is making me very nervous.
Takata recall - I was notified of the airbag danger mid January 2017. My Lexus dealer - new country latham has refused to remedy the problem. It seems unacceptable to permit the delay of this dangerous situation and limit the use of the vehicle to back seat passengers.
