Consumer was told vehicle has CA emissions package, since October 2000, vehicle has been stalling, engine stumbles in cold weather, and getting worse. Dealer cannot remedy, Mazda stated only 4 cylinder vehicles do that.

Vehicle makes a knocking noise which is often times heard over the stereo and occurs at sporadic times. . Dealers have agreed with the unusual noise and then when they could not solve it told me that it was normal operation and part of the emissions systems.

Air intake system failed.
None of the first three problems were causing any safety hazards. The transmission failure made the shifting very jerky and rpm to go high. I did not try to experiment on this on the highway. Driving a Mazda is the worst experience of my life. Never buy/lease or rent a Mazda again.
Exhaust fumes come inside of the vehicle, smelled a strong odor. Dealer contacted several times, and is not aware of the problem/cannot duplicate the problem.
