36 Equipment problem of the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/21/2024

While driving at a normal speed on a clear, sunny day with no other vehicles close by, I heard a loud crash sound and my car's sunroof unexpectedly shattered. The inside glass panel looks like it's shattered and it caused tiny glass shards to fall inside the vehicle onto my right arm and the surrounding area. I closed the cover to prevent more from falling. This occurred without any prior warning, signs, or symptoms such as unusual noises or warning lights from the car. This incident posed a significant safety risk, not only due to the distraction, shock of the sudden noise, glass falling, injury in a potential accident, but also the potential for physical harm from the glass shards. Thankfully, no injuries occurred, but the potential for serious harm was evident. This problem has not yet been inspected by the dealer or confirmed by an independent service center, and there has been no opportunity for an inspection by any manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. However, I've reached out to Mazda, both locally and corporate and am receiving a run-around, no surprise. I will attach photos of the inside and the outside of the glass. The outside photo was taken after the cover was closed. However, the broken sunroof is available for inspection upon request.

37 Equipment problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/03/2024

The manufacturer recall number6023g, NHTSA recall number23v-487, has not been performed by the dealer. The dealer states that they do not have a remedy. Not only have I had the problem of flickering and distortion, but the back-up camera often does not operate at all.

38 Equipment problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/20/2024

My infotainment system is experiencing the “ghost touch” and selecting all these options on its own while driving, putting a great risk on myself and passengers as any selection can be made and distract the driver. The screen is supposed to become disabled as a safety feature when driving but with this issue it is randomly making different commands that are extremely distracting especially during traffic hour times. The problem has been confirmed and Mazda refuses to issue a recall or do anything at all to fix this manufacturer error. There was no other warning lamps it just started glitching one day and has not stopped since for about half a year now. There are hundreds of other people I have read who are also experiencing the same issue and still Mazda refuses to acknowledge its faulty system and put so many lives at risk.

39 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

The infotainment system randomly mutes and unmutes bluetooth calls; it switches radio stations, skips, and repeats on spotify and through the settings. It's like the daily turns itself, even though no one touches it. It's startling to have it happen while you're driving, and suddenly, the display starts doing all sorts of crazy changes on its own.

40 Equipment problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/04/2024

There has been an open recall on the camera on my Mazda3 for a full year with no approved fix from Mazda. Absurd. My rear camera no longer works after this delay.

41 Equipment problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/26/2024

My issue is with computer firmware updates the manufacturer (Mazda) needs to have done occasionally to help w/traction control and other issues, that the consumer is stuck paying for it, I had a check engine light come on and took it to the dealer. The dealer said that the tcm (traction control module)and the pcm (power control module)needed to be updated. And being the car was out of warranty that I was going to be responsible for paying $330. I would think that if a manufacturer decided to make new updates to help with safety and performance that it shouldn’t fall on the consumer as we bought the car thinking they had this stuff already figured out. Like our Smart phones when there updates we the consumer don’t pay for the updates to help protect our phones from security issues and other things…. So why is it acceptable for consumers to pay for auto industry’s updates to help with safety.

42 Equipment problem of the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/16/2024

Interior rattles from passenger side and also infotainment screen is rattling. Should not be happening on a 2024 with only a couple thousand miles on it. Scratches on the interior from basically nothing, everything on this car is very easy to scratch. There was no accident just wanted to file a complaint.

43 Equipment problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/15/2024

My Mazda 03 dashboard is melting, and I am not able to see out the window. . . I have talked to dealer and manufactory, and they will not pay the whole amount knowing it's a safety issue. I don't understand how they can sell product on car that is malfunctioning and a safety issue. I bought the car brand new in 2010 and didn't have any issues until this year. Please call me back at 5417291640 my name is rebecca sherwood. I was not in an accident, just think this is a safety issue.

44 Equipment problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/05/2024

The dashboard of my 2012 Mazda 3 has separated from the instrument panel causing a gap between them. The dashboard has become very sticky leaving a black sticky film on the surface. This has caused a glare on the windshield making it hard to see at times while driving. There is a letter dated may 2017 from Mazda, special service program (ssp) a9. The letter states that the warranty was extended 7 years (84 months) from the original warranty start date or April 30, 2018, whichever is later, with no milage limitation. As I read it, 7 years of 84 months from 2018 should extend the warranty for repair of replacement through 2025. Mazda refuses to make repairs, or replacement of this equipment that has an impact on the proper function of the airbag system and impairs the driver's vision because of the constant windshield glare. This is an issue. That needs to be addressed as an important safety.

45 Equipment problem of the 2016 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/18/2024

Reverse camera stops working at random for several hours at a time. Mazda has issued a recall for this issue but has yet to offer repair.

46 Equipment problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/15/2024

The vehicle's touch screen for radio/nav/vehicle settings has delaminated which causes the display to detect "touches" that are a result of the delamination. This can result in navigation exiting, radio changing audio levels, and a myriad of other things like turning on/off vehicle safety settings. This was a known issue on the previous models and a short web-search has found that many others with this generation Mazda has the same issue.

47 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/14/2024

I’m getting water in my trunk. Dealership replaced left tail light and both lights on the right. The left is dry and the right is soaked again. At least a gallon of water sitting where spare tire is. I’m seeing many other Mazda owners are having the same issue online. This should be a recall. If the water issue doesn’t get fixed it will lead to rusting and mold. My spare tire already is showing rusting.

48 Equipment problem of the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/13/2024

The driver window, upon attempted to be let up, will start to go up then go all the way down, ignoring the function to go up. This is a safety concern, as harsh temperatures and foreign objects are able to enter the vehicle cabin at any time, including driving. The problem has been reproduced by a dealer, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There are no warning indicators for this issue beyond witness the failure occur in real time.

49 Equipment problem of the 2015 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/04/2024

Mazda opened a recall on the rearview camera not working properly almost one year ago and still has not supplied a remedy. Reference: 6023g | Jul 14, 2023 #23v-487.

51 Equipment problem of the 2016 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 02/29/2024

The 2014 Mazda3 I own has a known "Mazda connect touch screen concern" in August 2019 in which the Mazda connect touch screen does not accept touch commands in part of the screen. I called Mazda and they said there are not any recalls for this but they did acknowledge this was an issue.

52 Equipment problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 02/17/2024

The car was experiencing the Mazda ghost touch in which the navigation/infotainment screen randomly pushes buttons resulting in distracted driving. Mazda has authorized repairs for 2014-2016 models, but refuses to fix later models. For reference, see https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10160602-0001. Pdf.

53 Equipment problem of the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/19/2024

The engine coolant system/electronic coolant control valve is known for failing on the n/a skyactiv-g engine. When it fails, it fails stuck open. There is a TSB out for this problem (01-011/21). This results in the engine coolant never making it to operating temperature, and poor heater performance during cold weather. When I took it to a dealer, they stated that the check engine light must come on from dtc p0126:00 before they can address the problem under warranty. Even after driving the car and having 30+ minute drives where the temperature gauge never makes it past the first tick (blue), I haven't had the check engine light come on. It's unclear what circumstances are required for dtc p0126:00 to occur, but I've never had a car essentially not get warm during an entire 30+ mile highway drive, even when it's 0 fahrenheit outside. It appears like this is a degenerative problem as I did not have this problem last cold season. This year, since the first day it has been colder than about 45 degrees, the engine has struggled to reach operating temperature, and of course is even worse now that it is colder. Without the heated seat, it would be difficult to be comfortable in this car due to this problem.

54 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/15/2024

The infotainment screen in this vehicle has internally delaminated causing a well-known "ghosting" problem that causes random buttons to be pressed (without touching the screen) while driving, including volume changes. This results in the system randomly choosing radio stations and turning the volume up to high levels suddenly, distracting the driver and making the screen unusable. Mazda repairs 2014-2016 model year vehicles with this issue under an extended warranty but refuses to do so for 2017+ models.

55 Equipment problem of the 2015 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 01/03/2024

This in regards to NHTSA recall #: 23v-487. It has been 173 days since this recall was announced and I have not received any correspondence from the manufacturer. The recall has been sitting with no remedy available for 6 months. I want to know when Mazda is expected to have a fix to this vehicle?.

56 Equipment problem of the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/30/2023

Part easily break away during washing. Fuel door cover lid panel (bdyt-42-411) broke in automatic car wash.

57 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

The entertainment/navigation screen randomly started developing spidering cracks on the inside of the screen and has grown exponentially. It is getting close to the point where the screen is not readable and becoming useless. I have done research and have seen that many other Mazda owners have experienced the same issue where their screens cracked from the inside rendering it useless but Mazda refuses to cover the cost of an issue that is not caused by any Mazda owner. Without this screen, I would need to hold my phone in order to use a navigation app to get around or attempt to find a phone holder so I can still get around successfully.

58 Equipment problem of the 2023 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

The contact's daughter had rented a 2023 Mazda Mazda 3. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle veered off to the left side of the highway and side swiped a cable system; the vehicle then crashed into the end cap of a guardrail. The vehicle then hydroplaned and hit a bridge pillar. The vehicle flipped as the contact's daughter was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle landed on the roof in the grass next to the guardrail. The vehicle caught fire and was incinerated by the time authorities arrived on the scene. The contact's daughter was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire department extinguished the fire and a police report was filed. The guardrail, cable system, and a wooden road post were damaged due to the accident. Due to the extent of the fire, it was unknown if the airbags deployed. The vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The contact stated that the investigators could determine the exact cause of the crash but believes that it was likely that the contact's daughter fell asleep; the contact contests the investigator's findings. Upon his own investigation, the contact discovered that owners of previous year model vehicles had reported that the air bag and seat belt pretensioners had failed to operate in the event of a crash. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.

59 Equipment problem of the 2015 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/26/2023

My 2015 Mazda is equipped with a touch screen infotainment system. The touch screen has started to randomly change settings when the car is stopped (and running). Since correcting these changes can't be done while the car is stopped (more random changes occur), changes must be made while the car is in motion. This creates a dangerous situation by needlessly distracting the driver.

60 Equipment problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/24/2023

My car has a recall on the backup camera. Manufacturer recall number6023g NHTSA recall number23v-487 the recall issued in July. But I'm being told they cannot fix it. And as I'm trying to sell my car, I'm being told by buyers that the car has less value because of the unrepaired recall.

61 Equipment problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/28/2023

The manufacturer has not provided a timely remedy for a known safety issue on the backup camera for my car. (Jul 14,2023; manufacturer recall number6023g; NHTSA recall number23v-487). I purchased the car in 2014. Around 2017, the backup camera began flickering and sometimes failing to load completely.  I took the vehicle to the Mazda dealership in tustin, CA and they said there was nothing wrong with the camera. They said that I would have to pay approximately $500 for a new camera if I wanted one. I could not afford to replace the camera at that time, so the problem has persisted ever since. In July 2023, a notice of a safety recall was issued for the same issue with the camera. On 9/28/2023, I took the vehicle to the same Mazda dealership and asked for the camera to be replaced due to the recall. They inspected the vehicle and agreed the camera was defective; however, they said they didn't have the parts yet to replace the camera and that I would receive something "official" about the recall later. It is now April 2024 and I have heard nothing. This safety issue has been going on for 7+ years and Mazda needs to take responsibility. The fact that they wanted to charge me for the camera in 2017 and now they say no cameras are available leaves me to believe that they are stalling and just don't want to incur the cost to fix the safety issue.

62 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

I was officially notified of a known defect in my vehicle "which relates to motor vehicle safey". The defect is the "rearview camera wiring harness" which displays a "distorted or flickering image". My vehicle is experiencing this defect. The letter was sent to me in September 2023. The letter stated that repair parts are not currently available. I have checked and repair parts are still not available, even though it is now August 2024, almost a full year later. This is unacceptable as this is a safety concern.

63 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

Mazda had previously issued a special service plan (ssp) to remediate issues with their Mazda connect center display (infotainment system), specifically "ghost touches" and "spider cracking" of the screen: [xxx] this special service plan only applied to 2014-2016 models of the Mazda3. I own a 2018 Mazda3 which has the exact same issue described in the above service plan. Searching online, I am far from the only person who is affected by this issue that continues to be present in newer models of the Mazda3. Mazda should replace my (and others) infotainment system, as it is unusable and distracting in it's current condition. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

64 Equipment problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/24/2023

Rear view camera started having distorted image causing issues reversing the car, there is an open recall for which Mazda has not been able to identify a fix.

65 Equipment problem of the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/16/2023

My 2021 Mazda 3 was bought used in August 2023 and is about a year old in my possession. It has been at the Mazda dealership for repairs multiple times since August 2023. It dangerously stalls and hesitates when trying to accelerate from a stop position. When the brake pedal is released and I start to accelerate like merging onto highways, the car rumbles or shakes slightly and then shuts off. I came across a review online that had the exact same problem and it stated a pcm update solved the issue. I have been to the dealer frequently since purchased and they kept my car for over a week and claimed they could not reproduce the customers complaint and there is no diagnostic code generated. There is frequent parking light malfunction alerts, switch operation not accepted alerts, brake alerts on desolate roadways I believe this vehicle behavior is dangerous on multiple levels, but the dealer refused to remedy the complaint or give me copies of the papers that I signed, stating they are only for the dealership. I also received a notice in the mail for a class action settlement for faulty fuel pump used in Mazda vehicles but not the 2021 Mazda 3 although it displays the same dangerous behavior. So between the faulty fuel pump or required pcm update the vehicle is questionable to drive safely under certain circumstances. The dealer inferred I should have purchased a used certified Mazda from them instead. Thanks.

66 Equipment problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/03/2023

There is currently a recall for 2014 Mazda 3 hatchbacks due to a faulty rearview back-up camera, but the dates are too limited. Production dates start in Dec 2013, but my particular vehicle was manufactured before that and still has the defective camera/mount. My car is in the shop getting fixed now for $1380 + tax, and should have been covered by the safety recall.

67 Equipment problem of the 2016 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/02/2023

Ac/heat knob will not go into max air due to a cable slipping off the mechanism behind the dash when it does this the heat will not work and it is hard to defrost your windows if they get fogged up while driving making it difficult to see.

68 Equipment problem of the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/30/2023

For the past 7 months (since July 2023) the passenger rear tire keeps loosing air pressure about every two weeks requiring more air. It always drops to 10 points below the other tires. The tires have been rotated twice so it is not a problem with the tire. I believe there is a recall for the same or similar issue on Mazda 3s just not including my VIN#. I brought my car to good year a few times unable to stop this from happening.

69 Equipment problem of the 2015 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/14/2023

I am filing this complaint regarding existing manufacturer recall number 6023g (NHTSA recall number 23v-487). This recall has been posted since Jul 14, 2023 and the manufacturer has failed to remedy the recall in a timely manner. The remedy is noted on the recall page: "if inspections verify there is image distortion or flickering, the rearview camera will be replaced with a new part and a wiring harness fastening seal will be added. " however, the manufacturer continues to state that the remedy is not yet available.
