1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2004 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 02/26/2016

Over time, the clutch in my manual transmission 2004 Mazda 6 v6 hatchback has been getting noisy, difficult to modulate with surprising sloppy movement in a sideways motion when being depressed, and has been greatly worrying me. Upon investigation, I discovered cracks in the formed and welded steel frame that holds the clutch pedal where the whole assembly bolts to the firewall. I've adjusted my clutch linkage, bled the hydraulic line and attempted to bend the frame back to square, but eventually this frame is going to fail and I will be unable to push the clutch and change gears. If this happens while driving, I could crash and be injured or killed. In addition, the clutch pedal frame, as it bends to the left with every shift, makes contact with an electrical/cpu box mounting frame next to the clutch, which is additionally worrisome. This welded steel frame is made from surprisingly light gauge metal and should have been designed to last the life of the car. This is a grave safety concern for all Mazda 6s made in the Ford auto alliance factory in flat rock, michigan. This component should be recalled!.

2 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 01/31/2013

Pressed clutch in loud noise heard then grinding. Pedal stuck to floor while in traffic. Car I had happily owned 2 Mazda 6 2006 sedan and wagon and was considering another when the diesel comes out. That was last week. This week without warning the clutch pedal went to the floor and made a loud bang grinding noise. Car has extended warranty from Mazda we had told Mazda for over a year hard to get into reverse and 1-2 chatter noise but never got any resolution on this. Took car in dealer said it would be a clucth which is not covered I was not happy but somewhat ok with that. It turns out that went the part failed throwout bearing it destroyed the transmission and that is not covered (Mazda customer service must know about the problem as they tell you not covered and basically hang up on you. Same with mepp which I paid a great deal of money for bumper to bumper extended total care which is supposed to cover manual trans but somehow does not. Getting rid of both cars and may have to junk my other car which went from being worth 10k to 0. In an instant by a bearing which should be covered. Don"t buy Mazda they don't stand behind the product. Always dealer serviced and just was serviced and passed Mazda (green light thing they give you every time it's serviced making you feel like it's all good which is a lie. 3000. 00 to replace the clutch is insane it's not a skyline gtr.

3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 01/15/2012

After two years of driving this car the clutch pedal assembly completely broke puncturing through the fire wall and brake reservoir, luckily I was starting the vehicle in a hospital parking lot when I pushed the clutch in it went completely to the floor and did not come back up. It was completely inoperable, I had to have the car towed after patching the firewall and replacing the clutch pedal assembly for $1800 I was told that part was faulty on this vehicle and if it happened once it would probably happen again. One year later it broke again only this time I was driving down the road when I went to shift gears the clutch went to the floor and didn't come back up, I had to pull over luckily I didn't get hit or cause an accident. I was told by Mazda there would be no recall because this part isn't a direct safety issue.

4 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Clutch pedal assembly cracks causing it to be difficult to shift gears, clutch will stick and not spring back. Eventually the car is unusable due to the clutch. I did research to see there are many complaints on this problem concerning Mazda3, Mazda6 and the rx8. I had to buy a new clutch pedal assembly but seems the problem is happening again. Mazda needs to make a stronger bracket to reinforce the pedal assembly.

5 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2004 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 04/30/2010

The clutch pedal bracket that holds the assembly to the firewall snapped in two at the point where the bracket meets one of the bolts that holds the bracket to the firewall.

6 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 02/06/2008

We purchased a 2003 Mazda6 new from a Mazda dealership. We had some issue with the car shuddering when engaging the clutch and called the dealership. We were told that the issue was related to "variable valve timing" and told to rev it a little higher when engaging the clutch. At approx 40,000 miles the clutch wore out and we tried to contact Mazda and file a claim, but we were denied. I paid to have the clutch repaired, and now have approx. 60,000 miles on the vehicle. Recently, the whole clutch pedal assembly has malfunctioned and is causing significant issues with the engagement of the gears. Several times the car has not gone into gear and my wife got stuck in the middle of an intersection the other day and was almost struck by another vehicle because she could not get the car in gear. I have again contacted Mazda and have again been told that they will most likely not cover my issues. . .

7 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2003 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 09/20/2007

I won a 2003 Mazda6s and I am having issues with my clutch. I first changed the clutch at 18,000 miles and I had to argue with Mazda on that because the clutch is only covered for 1yr/12,000 miles. Now at 35,000 and change miles my clutch has failed again. Mazda has no recalled this issue with the clutch and in my opinion it should be a recall. . Read more...
