Bought my Mazda 6 new on 10/04/15 with 40 miles. On 3/26/16 at 3245 miles the transmission failed, very similarly to another complaint listed on this site that stated that there were hundreds if not more transmissions failures of this model at very low miles. My car took at least six to eight seconds to enter drive from park. While driving, the car abruptly began slamming into much lower gears than necessary with little or no change in change in the accelerator pedal. Slightest of grade change on the road only exasperates the problem. I was devastated. Called the Mazda service center and spoke to a service advisor who could not have more more apathetic. Curtly he tells me that the soonest they work me in was in 5 days. He noted that I should make my appointment online, and be sure to ask for him! you have got to be kidding son! no way! unfortunately the only other service advisor in the place was a woman who seemed to be annoyed being there. Her own mistakes, which were many, made her angry and she acted like it was the customers fault. Not just with me either. I received nothing on day one for my car even being there. Not the work order I had signed. Nothing. . Day two I sign a work order for Mazda to get the new transmission installed, again she gave me no copy. It really seemed to annoy her when I asked to both work order copies, as if it was something completely irrelevant. I wish I had followed my gut and taken my car out of there pronto. This was to be my last new car and I now want nothing to do with Mazda. I am a 50 year old man who treats his cars gently. Nearly every mile on my Mazda 6 was highway, the easiest best miles for a car when it come to wear and tear. This car is unsafe, I nearly rolled backwards into my neighbors car when I forgot about that long pause from park to drive one night. Mazda, get serious about this before someone gets hurt!.

My transmission fails and revs high when I accelerate too hard or am going up a hill causing a downshift. This is most common when switching between the 5th and 6th gears. This is a very dangerous problem common in many vehicles of this model year. If I suddenly can't accelerate going 60 mph on the highway and drop down to 40mph as I wait for the rpms to go back down, there is a serious risk of being rear ended or side swiped depending on the situation. There is a service bulletin but it should be a recall. The fix would cost thousands of dollars.

When accelerating, the car suddenly has no power, then shifts hard down, typically it happens shifting into 3rd or 4th gear. Under about a half pedal, it basically feels like a stall, then jerks you backwards, hard as it kicks into gear and accelerates. I'm told there is a service bulletin that there are transmission failures for this car. Unfortunately, we are out of warranty.
The transmission in my 2002 Mazda 626 sedan burned out without warning while being operated during normal highway conditions. The vehicle was well-maintained during my period of ownership. I was told by the Mazda mechanics that the 626 was "notorious" for transmission problems like this, and that they would not advise any attempt to rebuild the transmission because the probability of a similar failure was high, and that the "ecat" transmission was not designed to be rebuilt. Essentially, once the transmission fails in this vehicle (and I was told it was simply a matter of time), that the only option to recoup any loss is to sell the car for parts.

My 2002 Mazda 626 only had 88,000 miles on the car before the transmission failed.
The transmission in my 2003 Mazda 6s has failed on me 2 times in 2 years at the most diffucult times. . . Finals week at college and aslo during a busy time of work. The dealership has ackknowledgewd the problem and reprogrammed the computer system. Still the car had problems immidieatley after that visit, the transmission failed. They replaced the transmission with a new one, it too had the same problems. . . They acknowledged the situation and were unable to diagnose the problem. They told me that my car already had the upgraded computer program that is supposed to fix the erratic shifting. And that I should return if it gets worse. When it did, the technician drove it and now knows what it is doing, but he too said he doesn't know how to fix the problem if no check engine lights are coming on. . . . Thats the other problem. The check engine light don't come on when the car does it, but further more they don't even come on when the transmission fails completely! I am worried that this car has a major problems that will only get worse and adversley affect other components. Which it already has. . . They rack and pinion went out and almost caused me to wreck into a city bus, the subframe was installed too tight and caused the car to squeak and rattle, the brakes have a chatter that has been addressed and have been replaced twice. But most of al all of these things have happened in the first 2 years (20 months. ) the original transmission issue was addressed at 12,000 miles and has since by my opinion been the cause of the other related problems. Also the car sits an inch and a quarter lower on the passenger front than the driver front. Causing the rear to also be uneven.
