Brake lines rust and corrode at the plastic support clips. Brake lines are not made from quality materials. Suffrage also corroded. Suffrage was changed by dealer though when vehicle was returned the brake lines were broken. Car entered suffrage service with brake lines intact, rusted I wouldn't doubt but intact. When returned after changing suffrage, brake line was broken and leaking brake fluid. Extremely dangerous to return vehicle with broken brake lines and expected owner to drive away with no brakes. Changing brake lines was offered at a cost of $4000 but the lines were not broken upon dropping off for service. Brake lines should be warrantied and changed to a less corrosive material. Engine mounts fail and cause vibration.

The camshaft adjuster failure. Though I'm told safety is not in immediate danger, it's a very expensive fix that can cause other issues if left unpaired. It began subtly with strange noises, hesitation during start-up, inconsistent performance. I take meticulous care of this vehicle. Regular service. Genuine parts. Always handled with care. And yet, here I am, facing a repair bill that is not only shocking, but unjust. Especially for this to be a common problem. Not to mention the potential for severe engine damage if left unresolved. I’ve since learned that I am not alone. Many loyal mercedes owners have faced the same issue; often at relatively low mileage, with little to no warning. This is not an isolated defect. It is a systemic issue with significant implications, not just for the vehicle, but for the trust your customers place in your brand. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I feel let down. Mercedes-benz has always held a status. A great looking car. A great engineered car. And while this is a great looking car, it has a serious engineering flaw. German and japanese engineered cars hold the standard and this must be fixed. A goodwill repair assistance, or a broader recall initiative would show some integrity.

Does the engine in this car have a correct balance shaft?.
Smell gasoline on driver side. Can’t fill tank up or the smell is unbearable. Gas consumption is high. Engine light is on , suspension make a lot of noise, and ticking on driver side.
The contact owns a 2010 mercedes-benz E350. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low battery warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to a nearby parking lot. The contact parked the vehicle and opened the hood. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed pieces of the serpentine belt on the engine. The contact turned the vehicle off. The contact went to a nearby auto parts store and purchased a new serpentine belt. The contact replaced the serpentine belt, and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated that upon checking the data on the instrument panel, the contact became aware of several error messages. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. The contact stated that the steering wheel had seized. The contact turned off the vehicle and the steering wheel functionality returned. The contact stated that the low coolant warning light illuminated; however, the coolant level was checked and was sufficient. Additionally, the contact stated that the drive assist warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics regarding the drive assist warning light; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.
Recall exists related to a potential issue with the high-pressure fuel pump, which could lead to engine stalling and increase crash risk. My 2012 mercedes E350 stops the engine in the middle of the road couple of times and for some reason, its stops or shut off the engine completely. The last time I was pulling out on the main road and stop right there. I made a big traffic, and I was scared because I cannot start the car. The guy stops and help me to push out of the road, but we cannot push the vehicle unless someone is inside the car. If I go out, it will automatically go on "park" and cannot push the car. When you check the dashboard the check engine light is not on. 2nd incident I bring this car to Mercedes Benz dealership, and I told them that there is something wrong in my car, I explain what was wrong but, the guy I talk to, told me that if the check engine light is not coming on, my car is fine. I repeated that the car stops ones in a while when the temperature light is on inside the dashboard and the engine shuts off. He told me if the check engine light turns on then I bring it back. I show the code reading but the same thing he said. I left and went back home and suddenly I get stranded again; I got stock in the middle of the road for 3 to 4 minutes. I start the car and suddenly the car starts and find the nearest place to pull over. I let it call down for couple of hours and start again, the car starts and try to go back home. When I was in the interstate hwy. My car engine shut off, so I quickly pull over, but I was having a hard time to turn the wheel. I believe that this is very unsafe and should have mercedes dealer has to repair this issue. I research on the website that 2012 Mercedes Benz E350 have recall to a potential issue with the high- pressure pump and other things like battery fuse relay box positive terminal and low fuel circuit.

[xxx]. The engine intake manifold on our 2012 mercedes E350 (64,000 miles) exploded with enough force to bend the hood up 2 inches. It was a damp cold morning & the engine had not been started in 12 hours. The car was not locked & the key fob was nowhere close. The fuel level was under 3/4 full. This happened when wife went to get something out of the car and when she pulled the passenger door handle to open - b o o m !!!! if this happened 30 minutes later, I would have been under that hood checking the fluid levels for a trip to san francisco. I would have been seriously hurt or killed!. It was towed to mercedes-benz of carlsbad, carlsbad California on [xxx] & they have not been able to identify the cause. They could replace the broken parts at the cost of $8,000 but that doesn’t fix the problem. And if it happens again & hurts or kills someone, they could be held liable. Similar intake explosions have occurred on these mercedes engines but mercedes is denying any knowledge even though it’s clearly a dangerous design flaw in this intake system. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Since may 2024, I had taken my car in for repairs at 3 different shops for same exact issue diagnosed as leak from air intake system. It has been repaired 7 times since it first occurred in may 2024, and unfortunately it is still not resolved. This is a potential danger to the driver because all of a sudden there will be loud noise from the engine, car will start misfiring and slow down the speed. The previous 3 attempts of repair were made at Mercedes Benz of west covina. The car is non drivable at the moment.

The engine in these cars are defective and can cause serious harm due to a part that was put inside the motor made of plastic. There was a lawsuit but if you didn’t get in on it you losses out for not knowing. I was recently at mercedes dealership to fix recalls and they brushed me off. The car can catch fire and I’m already experiencing engine failure after only owning the car for a year. They don’t care because it’s an old car but it’s still being sold to unsuspecting buyers. I’m not the only one there are thousands of us who are at risk driving these cars because mercedes won’t admit their off the showroom floor mistake.

August 2024, while driving on a 4 lane highway at 65 mph, a warning appeared on gauge cluster saying that electronic stability control and traction control inoperable. This caused the car to reduce power, requiring me to quickly pull over. The car continued running but I was limited on mph and gear selection (aka limp mode). I turned the car off, allowing the systems to reset. After driving approximately 1 miles, the same warnings appeared. Fortunately, I was within a mile from home at the time so I was able to "limp" the car home. The next day, I checked the car again by driving in my neighborhood with the result. I had the car transported on roll back to express oil and tire in barboursville, wv as my "local" mb dealer is an hour away. They checked the car and the engine control module was defective and needed replacement. The cost of the service including new mb parts and programming would be $2,495. I tried for 2 months to secure funding to fix the car to no avail. I had the car towed on roll back again but back to my house. The car has sat since then.
Engine camshaft position sensors are leaking oil which has "wicked" into the engine wiring harness and ecu. This is a common safety issue on this year and I would like to urge mercedes to issue a recall as oil contamination within the electrical system can lead to a host of other safety concerns.
Dealership stated on 6/4/24 extensive rust and perforations on rear vehicle sub frame that can cause risk to driver of accident or injury. Mbusa is offering to replace sub frame part # 212 350 38 05. However dealership advised mbusa is not offering to replace corroded brake lines or brake fluid exchange, and would need to come out of pocket. Mbusa failed to notify me of safety defect. Vehicle was purchased from mb of arlington, va in 4/2019 however dealership sold vehicle that is dangerous to drive. The vehicle also has additional safety defects such as a passenger tail light that does not work, and a license plate light not functioning. Dealership wants an additional $1500 to replace these (2) lights. Vehicle has low mileage at 60,000 and was purchased with 35,000 under mb cpo program. I am very disappointed in Mercedes Benz and have never had so many quality and safety issues with any of my prior e-classes before. I contacted mbusa and opened up a executive care escalations case [xxx}. There was no warning lights of the impending safety feature. The level of rust on the sub frame is horrifying, and this vehicle should never have been sold to me under mb cpo. In addition, the vehicle engine is leaking oil in multiple places and could catch fire in any moment. I have never seen so many issues on a vehicle with low mileage, especially with a mercedes. Dealer is refusing to assist with cost, and wants 2k+ to replace engine gaskets. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
My 2014 mercedes started getting a fault light with multiple performance issues. Mercedes dealer where I can carry out my routine maintenance diagnosed the issue to the electrical harness being contaminated with engine oil and it needed to be replaced on the engine because of a known issue whereby oil from the upper camshaft sensors seep into the harness and makes its way to ecu and causes possible failure of the engine control, which could lead to shutting down or worse, incorrect engine timing which would lead to incorrect detonation at the compressors and subsequently engine failure at critical operational phase. This below link and attached document describes the issue well. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Smell gasoline when tank get filled up. Engine light is on , suspension make a lot of noise , power steering pump also.
The engine is misfiring and not powering correctly during driving. Car is failing to take off and today almost caused an accident due to the car would not pull off from the traffic light with oncoming traffic due to loss of power. Safety was at risk due to an accident was almost caused due to car not moving in on coming traffic dealership is citing that is needs to have a cylinder replaced but will not tell me why it needs to be replaced, why this has happened or what could have been done pre maintenance to avoid this issue check engine light came on dealer has been contacted, and was told this is a common issue for this to happen to newer cars, but will not fix the issue and extended warranty will not cover due to this is a manufacturer issue.

Certain mercedes-benz models 2005- 2007 m272 v6 and m273 v8’s have faced or are facing issues regarding the balance sprocket in which drives the camshaft and crankshaft of the vehicle. Mercedes-benz had made a decision to make certain engine components out of soft metals, when such metals are not adequate in handling the stress of the engine. In particular, in many cases, the balance sprocket was made with inadequate materials and gradually deteriorated to the point in which it could not engage the timing chain and cause camshaft-crankshaft misalignment. I personally did not experience such failure yet but it is more of a concern as this is a common issue , the repair is quite substantial and the failure can damage the engine even more.
Engine codes p0016 and p0017 reads cam shaft and crank shaft correlation it is everywhere on the internet and on the Mercedes Benz forum. This is a know problem that mercedes has ignored. Its on all 2004 thru 2008 vehicles with the 3. 5 engine. Calls for a balancer shaft replacement. This should definitely be a recall issue. The industry knows that is was poorly manufactured part. Your help with rectifying this issue would greatly help the and restore the reputation of mercedes and restore faith in Mercedes Benz owners. My vehicle is a 2006 E350 4 matic with only 113,634 miles.
Vehicle began shaking on the highway. It was coming from under the front hood and was shaking the steering wheel. The check engine light came on. I pulled over and had it towed to the mercedes repair shop. They said it was related to a bad balance shaft and that it was a systemic problem with the engine in certain mercedes E350s. I was told I needed to replace the camshaft and it would cost $6,000!!! after some research, it looks like mercedes agreed, back in 2015, to cover only certain of these mercedes, but there was no recall. I could have been killed if I was rear ended.

Motor mounts and transmission mounts continue to fail at intervals or 13,000 miles and again at 16,000 miles. Vibration of transmission is scary. Mercedes has replaced the mounts many times. They refuse to install new transmission mount now after only 16,000 miles on the replacement. I have contacted mbusa and they are telling me , they will not help with these substandard parts. Very well-known issue.
The contact owns a 2012 mercedes-benz E350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle started to jolt forward. Upon shifting to fourth gear, the vehicle stopped jolting. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle jolted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that oil was leaking into the engine and the wiring harness. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Hello, a manufacturer should understand that timing chain is a vital component in an engine, an so should not say just tell consumer that it goes bad at a particular milage. , as such in my mb E350 2012, is difficult to start the car and I think that this should be looked at. Thanks.
I noticed about to 6 months or less that my car would shut off or stall after starting ignition and also hearing water sloshing behind the dashboard and the radio does not work and the rear camera goes on/off which is safety hazard, and the engine symbol remain lighted up even after checking all components. Also, on a few occasion my floorboard in the passenger back seat would be soak and wet. I took the car to my mechanic, and he inform that the drain valve was not working properly. After doing some research on the internet I found that this particular incident was happening in several of mercedes years 2009-2011 e50, that it was a recall on the water drain system. Also, on 01/17/23 my sunroof was working without any problems, I attempted to close it and it stop midday and I hear the motor working, but the sunroof did not move, I did more research and found a recall on the bonding glue for sunroof and the glass was detached without warning. Even though my vehicle is not on the recall list, my car is having the same exacts problems and issues and reported by NHTSA. I would appreciate as response or advice to solve these problems, right now my car is a safety hazard to myself and other drivers. Thank you for cooperation in this matter in advance. My case from corporate mercedes customer care#2-36404533747.
My check engine light has been on for about a year, I have been told by both the dealerships here in memphis/collierville that as long as the light is an orange color there is nothing to worry about but it has been on consistently for about a year. I had a diagnostic test done on [xxx] by dr. Benz affordable Mercedes Benz care and it was revealed that me control module, oxygen sensor, engine wiring harness has oil intrusion all throughout. I would hate to attempt to drive my vehicle and all of a sudden it is severely damaged because of this. I feel this may be a very costly expense and would like some assistance in taking care of this matter. I love my car and have not had any problems, and hope to have it several years more. I only have 116,038 miles on this 2012 vehicle that I purchased in 2015 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I own a 2014 E350 Mercedes Benz the transmission was recalled a while back but long story short my car has all the same exact problems a lot of E350 owners are having with the conductor plate witch causes rough shifts between 1st and 3rd gear car went to mercedes’ for more testing now I’ve got a 13000 dollar estimate and problem is even though the VIN doesn’t show it was recalled for that reason the problem is spread world wide cuz my car only has 60000 miles and every one’s mercedes’ is giving same exact problems not just mine so it has to be a recall.
We just purchased a 2006 mercedes for our teenage sons and had a dealer look at it before we purchased it. They told us there were a couple of codes that were worth watching but that it wasn’t anything significant right now. After the car started jerking and shaking while driving it, we brought it in to dealership where they told us it had a common code for mercedes in this timeframe p0016. Repair estimate is nearly $5000 to replace timing chain and balance shaft, or a new engine which would be roughly the same. After researching on my own upon being told this code, I found all of the information about the class action lawsuit and settlement, which of course we are too late to be a part of. The dealer said there is a potential that the car could just seize up at some point, so I don’t want my young sons to be out on the road when that happens. I am very frustrated and upset that this wasn’t a recall since it apparently affected a huge amount of vehicles manufactured within this time frame. There is a specific list of engines with known issues and ours is among them. Mercedes benz should be held responsible for making this right because it was definitely a quality issue. Now we are stuck with an unsafe vehicle, or a massive expense due to defect.
The contact owns a 2010 mercedes-benz E350. The contact stated that the engine was misfiring and shifted limp mode. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 22v168000 (exterior lighting, electrical stability control, engine, and engine cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.
Camshaft sensors and solenoid leak oil internally which then gets into the sensors electrical connector. From the the oil enters the engine wire harness through capillary action maki g it’s way to other sensors and ultimately the dme (digital motor electronics). This can cause February dme to fail which in turn can make the engine stop running.
Car was being driven at secondary road speed (~40mph). Engine suddenly began to spudder and misfire terribly. Came to a stop light engine was idled roughly. Accelerated from stop, when check engine light turned on. Car went into limp mode at a very dangerous rail road crossing and left turn intersection. Without acceleration, family was in danger of being hit by train and incoming traffic. Took car to mercedes mechanic. Faulty parts were the camshaft position solenoid valve, ignition cool. Short circuit in one part caused blown ignition fuse and cascading mechanical problems and safety risks. Repair cost so far is $1,100. Concern is the placement of the faulty part. It is exposed to high heat in the motor compartment and poses a fire hazard as well as a personal injury hazard to the occupants and driver.
I brought in my car to m1 mercedes, fremont, CA for service after “check engine” light was on and running rough on idle. I told them I started using ethanol (e85) fuel recently but my car is spec for that. The shop replaced spark plugs and ignition coils but the issue didn’t go away. While the car is parked overnight at the shop garage, on Jun 21, 2022, around 11pm, the engine exploded. The incident was caught on camera by the shop. The intake manifold was blown open. The car was tolled to fletcher jones mercedes fremont, CA (authorized mercedes dealer) for diagnostic. However, they didn’t offer any solution or attempt to find out what caused the explosion. They offered to replace the intake manifold for $1200. I declined as I believe this is a serious safety issue. What happen if it explodes again? since the cause of the explosion is not found and address. It could happen again anywhere, anytime. Fletcher jones fremont charged me $265 for labor and I tolled my car back home. I attempted to contact mercedes USA via their website to alert them about this problem and seek resolution. However I never hear back from them. I hope you can help to look into this serious safety issue. Attached please find the blown intake picture and report from m1 mercedes. I have the explosion video as well.
Driving the vehicle on several occasions on interstate 66 and the vehicle spontaneously went into limp mode. Now we find out it's a balance shaft issue and is a known problem from mercedes in the m272 engines for our 2006 E350 4-matic. They evidently used balance shafts with materials that were too soft, resulting in premature wearing of the balance shafts with all of the m272 engines produced during this time having the problem. There was a previous class action lawsuit, which mercedes settled, however, the consumers were not adequately notified and no recall was ever issued for the cars. Now we have 2nd or 3rd owners having these problems that didn't get a notice and have no idea there is a huge expensive and dangerous problem with their vehicle. On I-66 traffic moves at 70 mph (regular lanes) or 75 mph (express lanes). Having the vehicle spontaneously go into limp mode because of this engine issue is dangerous and could have caused a fatal accident on multiple occasions for us. Mercedes should be recalling all of these engines and fixing them properly before someone gets injured or killed. When I spoke with mercedes, they said because I was not involved in the class action suit at that time, they were not willing to fix the car or pay for any portion of the repair, which they quoted me as costing $16,228. 96. The problem is the mercedes went into limp mode on multiple occasions and there was no check engine light to indicate what the problem was for several months. We had no warning that this was going to happen which created a dangerous situation while driving. There were several incidents on different dates spanning months before a check engine light came on with codes and mercedes could identify the problem specifically was the balance shaft failure.
Balance shaft issues possible cause of vehicle stalls and safety concerns.
2008 v6 engine cam shaft will worn out and check engine light comes on can unable to pass smog for registration renewal. The cost to replace the worn engine cam shaft is about $4-$6k. It is not acceptable to the manufacture to design the vehicle can can have the major part worn out about 100k mile with good maintain of services and regular service a-d and oil change.
