Mercedes Benz ML320 owners have reported 8 problems related to wiring (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takata recall I just bought a 2000 mercedes ml 320. My ac stopped working and took it to a mercedes certified mechanic. Told me it was a pressure sensor. He then called me back and told me that the wiring harness had fallen apart and all wires were touching each other making shorts thru out the car. He told me that the shorts had fried my computer and the only way to fix all this was to replace the wiring harness. At almost $2000. 00 for the repair it seems that mercedes intentionally did this to make money. They should be held accountable to repair this issue as they did it so the wiring harness would bio degrade when the car was junked. Not a good practice to sell cars in the united states.

: the contact stated the vehicle's remote locks would not work. When this happened, the car would not start. After waiting a few minutes, the remote worked and the car started. The dealership determined the vehicle needed a new battery and an abs switch. This did not fix the problem. The dealership then determined the aftermarket alarm system needed to be removed. The contact had this removed and the problem was still present. The dealer has now determined the problem is with the computer. There is an NHTSA recall, # 01v061000, regarding the electrical system; wiring. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN.

Oil consumption problem. Oil light keeps coming on between 200-600 miles of driving. Transmission is failing and engine needs to be replaced. Very poor.
Our 1998 mercedes m320 has been subject to unexpected stalling for some time. More recently this has increased in frequency and we have periods of loss (reduction) of power while driving. The dealer advises that we have deterioration of the catalytic converters and that there has been a recall for this problem on newer models of the m class - but not our year. We have the car at the dealer waiting for replacement parts. We are told it will be a number of weeks since the parts are in great demand. Repairs will cost over $2,000 - but the car is clearly unsafe. Most frequent stalls are starting at a light or stop sign. One concern is knowing this problem with model years just newer than ours are subject to recall while our year isn't. The other issue is how difficult it was for the dealer to identify the problem until it became very severe (or they learned of the solution due to the recall of other years.

intermittent delay of 7 seconds when given gas. The vehicle has been in the dealership 6 times, and they still haven't been able to figure the problem out. The car has had this problem for 2 years. The car is worse when it's hot outside and when the consumer is pulling out. The car doesn't have the problem when it's cooler outside. The dealership has changed out the pedal value sensor, a slide mechanism for the intake manifold, a wiring harness and fan for the ecm, the fuel pump and fuel filter with upgrades, the ecm, and now the wiring harness has to be changed since it was built in germany.
