I have had the brake pads on my 2006 Eclipse gt replaced twice (I. E. 3rd set of pads). Each time a high pitched squeal begins a month or so after being installed and progressively gets worse. I now have just under 8,000 miles on the car and the third set of pads is beginning to squeal. After replacing the first two sets of pads, Mitsubishi now says that this is a normal condition. I have never had brake pads that squealed constantly.

The car shakes wile braking @ or around 40 miles an hour. Dealer reported the cause as rotor run out on the front brakes and turned rotors to resolve the problem. Soon afterwards, I reported to the service manager that the same thing was happening again and he told me that it was ok and to bring the car in when the shaking gets really, really bad. I brought the car back when the shaking got really, really bad and they told me that I needed to replace my brakes because there wasn't enough thickness on the rotor to turn them anymore. The dealer gave me a hard time about replacing the brakes under warranty, but finally replaced them as a goodwill repair. They replaced the front rotors, shims, clips and pads in July 2000. I have had to replace my brake pads twice in 2001 and once they were cracked. The mechanic at midas told me that he has never seen cracked brake pads before. I feel that there is a safety issue with the front brakes that has nothing to do with brake pads, but some kind of manufacturer defect in the brake system such as calipers. The company has tried to use any excuse they can to not take blame, like saying that it's because of my driving or because I let midas change my brake pads in 2001. Midas has an excellent reputation in the brake area and they don't lie and coverup what their findings are.

Ongoing problem with vehicle shaking while driving at approx. 40 or more mph. Also, rotors and pads needed replacing every two to three months. Could NHTSA help in the matte. ; vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on nine occasions or more, and nothing had appeared to br corrected. Please help!.
Rotors and brakes have been a problem since I bought this car new. Rotors have to be resurfaced every 6 months, and new brakes. There has been no charge except for brakes. Now dealership tells me I have to pay for new brakes and rotors for this chronic problem. Mitsubishi motors admits that this is an engineering problem, but there is nothing they can do. Dealership says to put the blame on Mitsubishi motors. I am scared to drive this car due to brakes possibly failing. Thank you.

Vehicle will begin to shake/stutter when brakes are applied. Will stop and let go when applying brakes. Dealer replaced rotors 3 times, both front brake pads. Cannot explain problem. Consumer states at times when applying brakes, they will skip, causing vehicle to stop and then go and then stop again, brake light switch was out of adjustment, causing the rear brake light to remain illuminated. Signal lights would not work in cold weather, dealer ordered flasher assembly. Seats would not work, there was material blocking the latch from locking.
The brakes have not responded twice and now constantly screech for the first five miles of driving it from rest. Water builds up in the door after a wash or rain and it smells.
I have had to replace brakes 4x's. They should be recalled. Issued complaint. Dealer unhelpful. Breaks squeal loudly even after being fixed. Should be able to retrieve number of times taken to dealer in their system. Dangerous. Now car shakes when stepping on breaks. Never has complete fix to this problem. Husband has had to complain to them as well about the danger of having his wife drive unsafely. Still no fix or proper resolution.
