While driving 45 mph consumer stopped suddenly and brakes/ steering wheel locked up. Also, vehicle rearended another vehicle. Contacted dealer, and dealer didn't know why steering wheel locked up.
The abs light illuminated, dealer repaired the left rear abs sensor, brake pedal went to the floor, dealer never repaired this problem, brakes are squeaking when stopping, dealer trimmed front rotors.
The car is missing and makes a knocking sound, hard vibration when idle and car jerks, does not seem to shift up to next gear, engine light comes on. Have taken care into dealership for repair for same problem at least 7 times. Dealership claims they cannot duplicate the problems I report to them. Windows are loose, rattle, and leak. I have had them tightened several times. I sent a letter to dave mckenzie (vp of service and engineering at Mitsubishi) in 10/98. I have not received a response.

Brakes: driving approximately 25mph, truck ahead of the Eclipse had come to stop, applied brakes and there were no brakes. Car accelerated as if the cruise control was on, kept pumping brakes, but car kept accelerating. When brakes finally kicked in car slid underneath truck, demolishing front end and the air bags did not deploy.
The braking system malfunctioned, having to replace the brake rotors twice. Problem is reoccurring. Dealer cannot determine problem.
There was a flood, applied the brakes and the car started to spin, hit a bus head-on and ended up in a ditch and the dual air bags did not deploy. Please describe in detail.
Vehicle will begin to shake/stutter when brakes are applied. Will stop and let go when applying brakes. Dealer replaced rotors 3 times, both front brake pads. Cannot explain problem. Consumer states at times when applying brakes, they will skip, causing vehicle to stop and then go and then stop again, brake light switch was out of adjustment, causing the rear brake light to remain illuminated. Signal lights would not work in cold weather, dealer ordered flasher assembly. Seats would not work, there was material blocking the latch from locking.
Consumer is having problems with the abs and lack of brakes.
Since purchase of vehicle brakes have been replaced three times in one year. Dealer has been contacted.

Brakes failed several times.
Consumer hit truck head-on at approximately 30 mph. Defect in driver and passenger airbags caused the air bags not to deploy. No warning was given that airbags were defective. Also vehicle has 2 brake systems, including backup panic brake system which was inoperative, causing the accident.
