Both my handles broke off, the drivers side arm rest,( where the buttons for the windows are), fell off and into the cavity below. The convertible top leaks badly along the point where the top meets the car windshield, windows, and back window. Very upset that there are many people with same problem yet no one wants to address the issue. . . Mitsubishi should pay for repairs. . .

Ron marhofer Mitsubishi's service department has attempted to fix this problem twice and refuses to attempt another repair. We have been told by area body shops that the problem could be from a broken support in the frame.

I've previously owned 2 Eclipses w/ no problems, this one however has been nothing but a lemon. 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse gt v6. In addition to the clutch which had to be replaced 1 yr after warranty expired, I have had an abundance of problems w/ parts that should never need to be replaced, none have been covered by warranty. I have replaced every sway bar twice, the a/c failed, the antenna embedded in the rear window failed, one oxygen sensor, the middle rear brake light wiring broke, 2 catalytic converters failed. And the worst is I was going through a headlight a month only to discover that the headlights had actually melted the to the connectors on both sides! and now I may have an electrical fault or faulty valve in my a/c unit causing my heat to kick on when the a/c is turned on.

Convertible roof does not fold down due to bent frame members on each side - called "bent top stack control links". This prevents the top front bow from closing tightly and allows water to enter the cab causing additional damage from mold and mildew - health hazards. The head liner pulls 1-1/2" from the front bow and sags significantly due to the slack distorting the view forward and limits the view in the mirror - a definite safety issue. The repair should be a factory issue and not cost me more than $500 for the parts and labor. If this bar breaks it will further damage the rag top and quadruple the repair cost. The repair shop said this has been a problem with many mitzu ecclipse spyders since they were introduced. Recall - recall - recall. Thanks.

I was forced off the road while making a turn at an intersection, I struck the curb wth the right front wheel. The impact (at a low rate of speed) broke the rim and blew out the tire. There was also damage to the sub frame that has lead to alignment issues. At the time, I thought it was a freak incident until I recently heard of other cases involving rims. I had to pay for all th repairs out of my pocket. The dealer did not mention any problems with the wheels or offer o look into the situation.
The vehicle would leak inside & in the trunk for no reason when it rains. Has been to dealer, but dealer could not find the cause of the leakage. Had specialist check the vehicle.

The car has a water leak on the front and rear passenger side. The water pools on the carpet and reaches 1" deep on occasion. Due to the radio amplifier being under the passenger front seat, the water penetrates the amplifier and shorts out some of the radio speakers. The car has been taken back to the dealership and to their subcontracted body shop more than 6 times in 3 months and problem still exists. The problem has gotten worse since the last repair.
