1 Body problem of the 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 06/13/2024

After a recent oil change, they informed me that the cross bar was very rusted and looks very unsafe. Upon further research I was informed there was a recall for this problem. I am the only owner and at this time all maintenance is up to date. Because the car has low mileage, I want to keep the car so during my research I was informed the part is unavailable. Not sure what to do at this point looking for any suggestions.

2 Body problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 11/22/2021

As with the early 2000's recall the paint (clear coat) on kalapana black (code x13) has started to peel off and Mitsubishi refused to address the issue. My vehicle has less than 75k miles and has been garaged most of its life as it is not a daily driver and I am the only owner. Mitsubishi recalled the earlier years but stopped it I believe in 2002 being the latest year but seems they continued the painting practices.

6 Body problem of the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

I have a 2007 Mitsubishi eclipes GS. That has over 160,000 miles. For the last 9 months or even longer my husband has to push the passenger side dash board down where the airbag is to cover it back. No, I haven't took it to a dealer yet, I figure with the warranty off of the car, the dealer ship would say I have to pay to fix it. I have no money to fix it. So, I'm hoping that someone will read this and tell me that there is a recall on it so, it can be fixed the right way. I hope the passenger side airbag(dash board) works incase of a accident. I'm planning on calling the dealer ship Monday 10/24/2016 to get more information on the problem.

This fire burned out the front light, bulb, some wire, and small piece of right front bumper. . . Then I tried this car again, I could drive it, but it has no turning signal. I drove this car to 2 different car shops, one is a local car shop, they worked on my car for 1 month, but they could not fix it. 20 Body problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 03/05/2012

I have a 2003 sterling silver metallic Eclipse which I purchased new in 2002. I have noticed that the paint on my hood, roof and truck have started to delaminate and the primer is starting to show through. I only have 73,000 miles on this vehicle. I have noticed a lot of other 2003 Eclipses with the same problem, in the same color as mine and also in black. I went to the dealer where I purchased my Eclipse and was told that Mitsubishi was having a paint issue for this model. I am hoping that Mitsubishi will stand behind their name and make this right. I also purchased a 2003 chevy silverado in 2002 and that paint job looks like the day I drove it off the lot. I should have bought 2 of them.

21 Body problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 07/15/2011

Passenger side door by side mirror water leaks in. Water fouls down the interior of the car and makes a puddle infront of passenger seat. There are no cracks loose seals that could be found or seen. It seems as if the pounding of water on the side causes water to leak in.

22 Body problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

There is a hollow opening behind carpet in floor under gas pedal. In less than 10,000 miles, a hole wore through the carpet. Now heels of shoes (just normal women's shoes, not spike heels!) get stuck while driving. An accident is inevitable if the problem is not repaired. I have driven many other model cars, many with worn carpeting, but none had a design flaw like the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I have been close to crashing several times. I reported it to the dealership, but they said it is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

23 Body problem of the 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 05/31/2010

The dashboard on my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse cracked several years ago. I had no idea what had happened, as I was not involved in an accident. I had assumed that it possibly got too hot from the sun one day. I was appauled to hear that this is a common problem. Parts of a car should not break in two or three pieces. Mitsubishi should take responsibility for thier issues. I have to take a bite in the value of the vehicle, the funds should come out of Mitsubishi's pocket, not mine! I also am having issues with the paint on the spoiler. The paint has strangely disappeared and the part has turned white. It's wierd! again, I feel that if Mitsubishi had a problem with their paint jobs, they should fix them!.

24 Body problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 05/06/2009

Purchased brand new 2003 Eclipse in 2004. I am experiencing paint delamination and it's spreading rapidly. Went to the Mitsubishi dealer after finding out many others are experiencing this problem. They took pictures and said they will contact Mitsubishi. I was notified the next day that my car has been declined any help due to expiration in warranty.

26 Body problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 03/28/2008

I noticed recently that a section of the roof on my car was whitish in color. Quite apparent as my car is black in color. I have heard and read from many sources that this issue was prevalent in 2003 models and obviously mine is not exempt much to my disappointment. I hope that Mitsubishi steps up to the plate to correct this manufacturer defect.

27 Body problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 02/26/2008

I own a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse gts and I have noticed on the top of my roof that my black paint is turning white! it is very noticeable . I have done a lot of research online and found out that I am one of hundreds with this same problem. I have also found that company does not take responsibility and blames it on the road, salt, and birds. A car that is this new should not be having paint problems! I am extremely disappointed with Mitsubishi and will not be a continuing customer if the problem is not fixed. I am hoping Mitsubishi takes full responsibility in fitting the paint.

28 Body problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 05/01/2007

I purchased a black 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse and the entire car looks terrible because of peeling paint and white spots all over it. I was told by an auto body specialist that it because of a clear coat failure. I have taken really good care of the car and it is garaged in the winter. Mitsubishi needs to take responsibility and repaint my car.

29 Body problem of the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

My black 2001 Eclipse gt paint is failing fast. Started as a small white smudge looking spot on the hood but has spread at a alarming speed to the entire hood and the roof and trunk. The paint in circular areas seems to just break down from inside. It's not cracking off but it's changing color from black to white like the sun is bleaching it out. Looks just like if you spilled bleach on blue jeans. It has spread from hood to roof to trunk in 4 months. I'm told it will have to be sanded down to bare metal to remove the failing paint before repainting.

30 Body problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

31 Body problem of the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 06/01/2006

My black 2001 Eclipse gt paint is failing. It began as a small white smudge looking spot on the roof of the car, but has spread to the entire hood, roof and trunk. The paint seems to just break down from inside. It's not cracking but is changing color from black to white like the sun is bleaching it out. It looks as if acid or bleach had been poured on my car. I'm now forced to pay thousands to have it sanded down and repainted, but there's no alternative.

33 Body problem of the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 06/15/2005

Something was happening inside the dashboard that was causing fluid to drain inside the vehicle on drivers side and the trunk. It had a smell. Took vehicle to the dealers twice, and said they repaired it, but it was doing it again. The dealer said it was a defective hose. It fogged up the vehicle. Turned on the air conditioner, and the fumes caused a blackout. Currently, they said it needed engine repair. Before the blackout tried take it back to dealer for a third time, and they refused to fix it on the weekend. This started happening on June 15,2005.

34 Body problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 06/03/2005

On second day of ownership I heard a very loud metal cracking sound while sitting in the car preparing to drive. Car was not started or moving). Upon inspection there was no visible defect. About a week later I had an identical experience. This time I noticed a crack in the body seam located on the driver's side door. The door would no longer close properly , and I immediately scheduled a repair appointment. The dealership adjusted the door and assured me that the crack in the frame was only cosmetic. The crack was filled and painted and seems to be holding, but there is a leak in the door that leaves water on the door sill plate every time it rains or I wash the car. I am in the process of having additional repairs for that now.

35 Body problem of the 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Failure Date: 03/09/2005
