36 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2017

Takata recall. Had my car in the dealer for the airbag recall. Ever since the car passanger light stays on even if I sit on it and im 180lbs and the dash airbag light came on several weeks of the recall service. Now I took the car back to the dealer and they don't want to honor the problem. They say its related to a different issue than what they did. They want to run a diagnose charge me for it and for the repair costs. The car is unsafe and I don't think I should be responsible since the car airbag system indicators were working correctly before I took it.

37 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Passenger airbag light does not sense passenger sitting in seat to turn air bag on (intermittently) and airbag light is constantly on on the dashboard yet no codes have been shown when mechanic tried to pull codes. Light is on constant when in motion or stationary. Passenger air bag light sometimes senses, other times it does not.

38 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2017

My airbags in my car are non-functional. The red and yellow airbag lights are on for the duration of any trip in the car. The sensor that is supposed to detect an adult in the passenger seat does not function so the passenger airbag is always off -attachment 1. I went to the deacon jones Nissan dealership in goldsboro nc on 4-12-17 for the recall on this issue. The "reprogramming" that was done was ineffective. This was not reported to me. I returned to the dealership on 7-6-17 to get the issue addressed. I was told that my car had no recalls outstanding and I would need to pay out of pocket to get the airbag control unit replaced. Instead I elected to call Nissan to see if they could offer an explanation or remedy the problem. I called and spoke with herman agentid: 7319220. He created a case and sent it to their repair specialists. Today, 7-11-17 I spoke with dez the case manager. He informed me that Nissan would not be replacing the defective airbag control unit and that I would need to pay to have it replaced out of pocket. My concerns are: 1. Nissan isn't taking their customers safety seriously. Some people would simply not be able to pay to have this defective unit replaced and could suffer injury as a result. 2. The airbag control unit (if I replaced it out of pocket) would fail again. 3. The airbag unit reprogramming has been ineffective on other cars and doesn't seem to address the issue. Similar to the hood latch issue which required 3 recalls to address. . Read more...

39 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2017

Despite multiple recalls and fixes to the passenger airbag (all open recalls completed), there are still times when a normal weight passenger is in the passenger seat and the airbag light indicates that it is off with no passenger present. The dealer has not been able to fix this, despite all the visits/recalls to date. It is not a permanent fault, just an occasional fault - passenger normally around adult/teenagers 200lb.

48 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2016

I recently had my car taken to the dealer for two recall items- passenger seat airbag indicator and hood latch replacement. Afterwards, the airbag off indicator now is illuminated when passenger front seat is not occupied. On two occasions over the last week, while someone was in the front passenger seat the passenger airbag indicator started was extinguished, like I would expect, but after about 5-7 miles of driving the indicator illuminated, indicating that passenger airbag was off, while person was still in the seat. After an additional 35 miles or so of non-stop driving, I exited the freeway and came to a stop, at that point the passenger airbag indicator then went out. The fellow I carpool with has been in the passenger seat both times that this has occured is very concerned and is considering not carpooling any longer. Thank you.

49 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2016

After latest recall, air bag light is always on even when no one is in seat which goes against owner manual. Disable light should only go out when a person a lower weight is sitting in the passenger seat per describe in owner manual. Now the constant light is distracting and brighter than the navigation system at night. Per the manual if the car is started and if some one at a lower weight sits in car after car is started then the car should be turn off then back on. I am stressing that the recall did not fix the problem but disables the air bag when not required to be disabled.

Passenger side airbag indicator light says it's off when an adult passenger of sufficient weight is buckled up and occupying the front passenger seat.

53 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

My almost 14 year old son who is 106 lbs. Sits in the passenger seat as well as a male friend who is 220. The passenger air bag light remains "off" when it should be engaged. I took it to a Nissan dealer and they said that they reset it and my son may not be "heavy enough". I am very upset at how they handled it (they didn't) and I can guarantee if there is an incident that happens and these were defective, there will be issues. I have read online that numerous other people have the same problem and they said they have to restart the car to get it to go off. I am not doing that or buying it. I was told that if Nissan does not recognize this problem for this specific year and model, that the recall with not be covered. It is obviously an issue. Secondly, I made an appt 3 weeks in advance for my hood latch to be repaired to allow for the part to get it. I drove 1. 25 hrs to get it replaced, sat there for 2 hours to be told that they were putting in it and then "did not have it in". They had me take a rental car home "to have a supervisor look at my airbag" as it was over the weekend. I got a disgusting car for 5 days to find out nothing had been repaired. I "need to stop in when I am in town sometime" to get my hood latch replaced. Really???? I will never go back to billion Nissan in sioux city. Poor service. I would like both of these issues taken care of promptly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!.

54 Air Bag Light On problem

The vehicle was taken to michael jordan Nissan (3930 durham-chapel hill blvd, durham, nc 27707, (919) 489-3800), but the failure could not be duplicated or retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 9,999.

55 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2016

My vehicle has been in twice now for the passenger airbag light remaining on when a passenger over 130lbs is seated in that seat. I first had this checked by kayser Nissan in madison 1/10/14 and was told no problem found then the recall came out and the vehicle was serviced again at kayser Nissan and was told the problem was fixed. Airbag light has been coming on again with person in seat and vehicle has to be pulled over and turned off and restarted for it to reset properly. This is very inconvenient and unsafe for passengers. The vehicle is mostly driven without passenger so this problem is not noticed right away making it hard to file a lemon law complaint even though it was first complained about within first year and under warranty.

56 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2016

Car jutter & stalled when came to a stop. Took car to local Nissan dealership and they placed car on diagnostic which came back clear and could not duplicate problem for 2 days. Received car back and car did the same thing, took it to a different Nissan dealership that said they have heard of same complaints but they have had my car for 5 days and claim to not be able to duplicate the problem. Car warranty is almost up and Nissan seems to be of no help. Passenger airbag light also stays on from time to time. I have read and printed out several identical complaints and there seems to be no resolve.

57 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2016

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. While driving 25 mph, the passenger side air bag light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to be repaired, but the issue recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 42,000.

58 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

After startup with a passenger in the front seat, the passenger side airbag light stays on intermittantly. We have taken it to the dealership for repair 5 times. 4 times they "reprogrammed the pcm according to the recall" and the last time did nothing. I did call Nissan and they opened a 'case' prior to the last repair attempt (#25798531) and still no attempt at repair was done because they couldn't duplicate the problem (in 30 miles, don't know how many times they actually got out of the passenger seat and restarted the car). This has been happening almost since new; but we thought the light was supposed to be on! I know that this is not an uncommon problem via research on the internet.

59 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2015

Passenger air bag light comes on intermittently with an adult passenger in the front seat weighing approximately 140 lbs. The yellow airbag off light comes on intermittently. It usually goes out after about five seconds. Sometimes it stays on. I sometimes pull over and turn off the car and restart and it usually goes out like it is supposed to. Took car to dealership where we bought it. They said they couldn't duplicate the problem. They reset the computer. Problem still persists. I have made several complaints with the dealer. Dealership said they could not resolve the problem because it is a weight issue with the person sitting in the seat. 140 lbs and under the light might come on. Looking online, it looks like many people are having same problem. This is a definite safety hazard. When light is on, air bags won't deploy if in an accident occurs.

60 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2015

The front passenger air bag light remains illuminated when an adult passenger is seated in the front passenger seat. This continues to occur even though the car was serviced for this recurring problem by the Nissan dealer last week under the recall campaign. The software update performed by the dealer has not solved the problem.

61 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2015

Passenger side airbag light does not cycle off when a adult is on board. This occurs aprox 15% of the time and requires the car to be shut down and restarted. This mitigates the problem most of the time. Car has been in for repairs for this problem on 3 occasions to include the spring 14 algorithm recall. If anything, the computer reprogram made it worse. Nissan dealers have no fix and ignore the problem. Dealer treats me like it is my imagination even though I have video recorded the light on at speed several dozen times. My car is a lease and it is going back in 6 months. This problem is dependent on the "boot" process failing. The light does not come on during travel if it properly cycles when the car is started. If the light successfully goes out 5 seconds after start, it stays out. I am assuming that the passenger airbag is engaged and will function? this problem has occurred from the very first day until now, ongoing. . . . 35800 miles.

62 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

My passenger air bag light intermittently comes on when an adult is seated in the passenger seat. Sometimes it comes on when no one is seated. Soon after this first happened, I received a recall, and on may 9, 2014, took my car to the Nissan dealer. It was "reprogramed" and did not fix the problem. I took it back on June 6, 2014, and the report says "general maintenance". The problem persisted. I took it again on Nov 14, 2014, and the "strain gauge" was reset . I was told to return if problem persisted, which it did (and continues to do). Very frustrated, I returned June 25, 2015. The problem "cannot be verified", so nothing was done. I returned again sept 8, 2015 and was really truly upset that this serious potentially life threatening problem is still unable to be eliminated. This time I was told that it is a "design" problem and cannot be fixed by mechanics. I was told engineers have been called to the dealership to address this same problem and that they are unable to fix it. I find it hard to imagine that Nissan wants to dust this off. It cannot be fixed? I imagine the next time I go in they will poke out the light bulb, or perhaps put black tape over the light so it won't "disturb" me. Should I just "not worry"? what is the remedy, and how much longer do I have to drive the care with the worry that the air bag will not operate in the event of a crash? I find this intolerable.

63 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

The passenger side airbag light comes on indicating that the airbag is disabled when a passenger is in the front seat.

64 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2015

If I'm driving, when I try to stop the car, I press the brakes the brakes do not activate. The car does not stop it keep rolling on. I have to pat the brakes to stop the car or press the brake a second time for the brakes to catch. It feels as though it slips pass the brakes! I also took my car to Nissan for the latch recall every since I got the recall "fixed" the pass air bag light pops on when no is in the passenger seat and my car will state that I have 100 miles (more or less) of fuel but my fuel gage will read empty and I will need gas as the gauge states!.

65 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

The red airbag indicator light does not go off on my vehicle - the exact symptom listed in recall campaign id pc214. The dealership said that even though my car is a 2013 as indicated in the recall notice that the recall does not apply to my car because the VIN number was not included. My car is the same year, with the same problem indicated in the recall and they want me to pay to have it fixed. I have reported this to Nissan and I am waiting to hear back.

66 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag warning indicator kept indicating "off", regardless if the passenger seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than 4 times and they provided no repair solution. The dealer reset the code more than once and reset the sensor, but the failure recurred. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v244000 (air bags), 15v681000 (air bags), and 14v138000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,813.

67 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2015

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag light remained off even when a passenger was seated in the passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to repair the sensor, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

68 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

I finance a 2013 Nissan Altima s, I noticed that my engine light, air bag light, brake light and tire pressure light kept coming on all at once, and would stay on for a day or two and then would go away on it's own yet the car never gave any physical signs that a problem was going on. So I assumed that maybe there was a sensor problem. I was leaving from work when I approached a stop sign and came to a stop. As I proceed to step on the gas to go is when I noticed that the car had shut off on me yet the radio and lights were still working. I tried to start the car up when the warning symbol came on stating that my key pad was invalid. That continued until the tow truck driver arrived resulting in him towing the car away to cherry hill Nissan. It was there that I was told that at 80,000 miles my transmission had went yet no one could give me an explanation as to why or what caused the problem. Now as of 10/22/2016 I am having the same signs and symptoms that were going on before my transmission went the first time with all the warning symbols coming on for a few days then going back off all on their own. 10/26/2016 my car cut off on me as I was in route. After getting it to start back up I immediately stopped at auto zone where they hooked my car up to their diagnostic machine and reported to me that my computer brain was malfunctioning. I won't know for certain what is actually going with my car until Monday 10/31/2016 when I take it into Nissan of turnersville so they can run test. In which I was informed over the phone that beings though the warning symbols come on and off on their own they may not be able to diagnosis what the actual problem is. How do I handle this matter if they can't figure out what causing the problem? I've already contacted corporate Nissan and they couldn't even tell me if the recalls that occurred prior to me getting the car were ever address.

69 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2015

Even after being repaired for a recall, the passenger airbag light continues to be on intermittently. The dealer did a simple inspection and claimed no problem found. They refused to perform detailed investigation unless I pay for the diagnosis, because the warranty has expired.

70 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2015

This is for the current safety recall issue on this model. I had the dealer "fix" the initial recall but have had numerous incidents afterwards with the airbag. This includes the airbag light intermittently going on/off while my wife is in the passenger seat. In addition I have had the same issue with nothing in the seat. I have video and photo evidence of this occurring after the car was sent to Nissan for the initial "fix". When this occurs I am forced to pull over as soon as possible to restart the car. I have told my local Nissan dealer face to face that I do not feel safe driving their car which is leased from them and they did not take my concern seriously. I believe I should be allowed to return the car and terminate my lease since I don't feel safe driving my family and friends around in this family sedan. Thankfully I have not been involved in any accident but it makes me extremely nervous if an accident were to occur.
