The airbag light has come on on the dash and does not go out. It doesn't matter if someone is in the seat with or without the seat belt. It stays on. Now I'm worried the airbag won't work in an accident or it might go off/explode at any time.
Update from previous complaint. On 1/24/22 I took the car for passenger air bag malfunction/OCS malfunction, the problem when there is a passenger on the car or not the passenger air bag light stays off and seatbelt light was on all the time. I brought the customer initiative related to NHTSA recall 16v-244 letter to the nearest dealership Nissan duarte and they only performed zero reset calibration and it did the job for about 4 weeks and now the air bag light turns on and off intermittently. I tried to have a passenger on the car and turned the car on, the air bag light turns off, when I restart the car with just me in the car, the air bag light stays on, I was able to replicate this problem over and over. Safety is definitely at risk for everyone in the car, as the air bag system is malfunctioning. I tried contacting customer service to honor their customer initiative related to NHTSA recall 16v-244 and have them perform service bulletin ntb17-006 OCS system retrofit to no avail. I tried contacting sarah jay at 615-725-7585 Nissan specialist waiting her reply. Please investigate car is approximately 67000 miles.
Airbag sensor not working correct, which will cause airbags not to deploy.
The airbag light came on the dash and stays on without the vehicle being involved in a crash. I took it to a shop to have it repaired and they stated it was a faulty airbag sensor.
Unknown, but the issue is beneath the passenger seat where it seems a wire has shorted out and even became disconnected and I am unsure but pretty positive that it has something to do with the passenger side airbags because shortly after a diagnostic scan shows several airbag fault codes. Also since then my car’s performance has changed and now I am receiving diagnostic trouble codes for different electrical components such as mas air flow sensor low voltage and its causing my car to stall at random times while driving and even on freeways. It also has caused my car to slow down while fully accelerating on the pedal. Very big safety concern as im driving on the freeway with my family in the car as well.
There was no incident but I went to the Nissan dealership because my airbag sensor light was on and I was told that the passenger airbag or all of the cars airbags were malfunctioning and would possibly not deploy if in an accident. This is a major safety issue and there should be a recall on this.
Very hard to steer and check engine light come on after a very loud beep.
2013 Nissan Altima. Consumer writes in regards to NHTSA air bag safety recall. The consumer stated the backseat airbag failed. The dealer and manufacturer were notified, but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not under warranty.
The OCS system in this vehicle has been faulty and on recall several times. Nissan refuses to take accountability. Whenever we take the car to the dealership all they do is clear the code out of the system but they are refusing to repair the occupant safety sensor. This sensor defect can cause the airbags to not deploy in the case of an accident which is not only dangerous to the driver but to others on the road as well, it is potentially deadly. There are several people with the same complaint and Nissan is insisting that consumers need to pay out of pocket to fix the problem although they know their recalls have not been sufficient to remedy the issue. At this point, there needs to be some accountability and reassurance that drivers and their safety mean more than a company's bottom line. This is a potentially deadly hazard that they should be responsible for repairing. The airbag OCS light continues to stay on the dashboard, and the passenger occupant light does not adequately work. There are others online complaining of the exact same issue.
Nhtsa-16v-244 Nissan refuses to fix this issue. My air bag light is off and will not go on if someone is sitting in the passenger seat. I need your assistance with Nissan.
According to documents that Nissan has filed with the NHTSA, there are several factors that owners should consider related to the recall. Firstly, if the ods system malfunctions, the passenger airbag will permanently suppress regardless of the occupant’s weight. If the system does malfunction, the (red) supplemental airbag warning light (srs light) will illuminate to alert the driver of the problem. Additionally, the (amber) front passenger airbag status light will illuminate to alert the front seat passenger. In December 2012, Nissan first became aware of the airbag defect due to an increasing amount of warranty claims regarding the srs light and/or the passenger airbag status light on 2013 Nissan Altima models. The automaker eventually linked the ods system problem to a supplier (tier 2 to panasonic) problem. Evidently, its supplier had made changes to the sensor, which affected its performance. On February 21, Nissan determined that a recall was necessary after a two-month probe. Our vehicle was serviced in 2015 for this recall. Subsequently, we have had problems with the passenger airbag continuing to stay on. When trying to get an inspection it always has trouble because of this light. We have been told by Nissan it is not "their problem" however there are thousands of similar complaints. Nissan is refusing to remedy the situation that is a danger to vehicle owners and others on the road. Nissan needs to be held accountable for this known defect and error that can be a grave danger to human life. Subsequently, they need to issue a recall to further remedy the situation or allow vehicle owners the ability to have it fixed at no cost. This is a known error, this is not fair to consumer safety nor is it fair that a big corporation can get away with potentially harming others due to their negligence in repair.
My occupant classification system is not functioning correctly. There is a voluntary campaign related to this issue (campaign pc214, NHTSA# 13v-069) that covers 2013 Nissan Altima but for some reason my VIN is not covered under this. However the recall campaign is for the exact problem I am having. I want my VIN to be included in this campaign.
Taken car in for state inspection after a couple of days air bag light is continuing on. Had it checked out and came back on. Taken it to a Nissan dealership said found codes b0001 and b0002 b00a0 b0202 stored in air bag system wanted to replace clock spring/spiral cable assembly said found internal malfunction. Car only had 86,000 miles. . Replacement cost on me.
Steering it’s heavy a/c stop working it self airbag check light on dashboard.
My supplemental airbag light is on and I have not been in accident. I know that there was recall for passer side airbag light so I am wondering if there is something going on with driver side air bag.
Both the driver and passenger side seat sensors do not detect when a person is in the seat, causing the air bags to remain off when vehicle is occupied. This is a common issue with the 2013 Altima, but Nissan has not issued a recall to have the seat sensors repaired.
Transmission on Nissan are easily damaged my car start but dont drive I just paid my car off in starting to have problems.
I don't know about this. I found out today.
My passenger air bag monitor seems to have a shortage. If there is no one in the passenger seat it will show on the dash as being on or when no one is in the seat it will show on and then sometimes off. Most days there isn't any symbol on the dash when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. I never know if the passenger seat belt is on or off. My second concern is my exterior headlights, they are so dim that I have to use my bright lights to see the roads. I have basically tried to stop driving very early in the morning, or at night.
When a passenger sits in the front seat the airbag light on the dashboard indicates the airbag isn't armed. I have had a Nissan dealer "fix" it three times and it starts again in a few weeks. First time dealer said a connection came loose when the seat was adjusted. Same thing the second time and the third time they said they secured the connection. The light came on in a matter of weeks again . I will take the car back for a fourth time soon. I asked the dealer service rep if there were any service bulletins regarding this problem, he said there weren't any, I feel that I can't have the only car with this problem. Whenever there is a passenger in the front seat I worry about being involved in an accident and their airbag not deploying.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the “air bag off” warning light remained illuminated for approximately a year. The contact stated that she took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the OCS sensor and module had failed and needed to be replaced. The failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 16v911000 (air bags) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 156,000.
The airbag sign came (code b0028) on at 110000 miles although I haven't been on any accidents for last 12000 miles. When I checked with dealers, they said airbag control module is malfunctioning and need to replace that with right side passenger airbag wires and might cost 2000 or more dollars. I am an International student and it's hard for me to arrange that much money. Please help me, as I have come to know that this is a common problem in Nissan vehicles. The airbag sign comes back after clearing the code if someone sits in the passenger side. Thank you for reading my request.
Side a/b module lh b0020-13.
Vehicle stopped automatically (by itself) while in motion. Lucky that it was in a parking lot otherwise this could have been a fatal accident. When taken to the dealer, they mentioned its an issue with the transmission and will need to be changed. Looking it up on google made me understand that its a common issue with Nissan Altima and Nissan has not taken any steps or offered any help to its customers to support fixing the issues. Its a disaster waiting to happen, kindly take some actions!.
Headlights very dim, cant see at night unless you use the brights, very dangerous, and passenger airbag remains off, common problem on a 2013 Nissan Altima.
Supplemental air bag warning light stays on. Dealer had reset it once but it came back on. According to the manual, "if this light is on, it could mean that the front air bag, side air bag, curtain air bag systems and/or pretensioner systems will not operate in an accident. ".
Letter from congressman burgess on behalf of constituent regarding 2013 Nissan altma which is in need of repair; despite the warranty on their car, Nissan has refused to conduct the necessary repairs. The consumer stated the airbag and the wiring in the vehicle need to be repaired.
Front passenger airbag OCS defect. Nissan has done a recall related to this issue but my vehicle VIN number is experiencing this issue but not coming up in the dealership system for the recall. Campaign #14v138000.
The dashboard light shows that the steering wheel air bag is non functioning. This has been reported on line to Nissan for several years, and not one response from Nissan. The dealership indicates that it's a malfunction, probably a sensor, and it might require me to pay up to $5,000 to identify the deficiency. I view this as a safety issue and not one of misuse. Kindly advise when this can be resolved. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Passenger light airbag is never detected. (been on going for a couple of years) engine light stays on (for about 3 months) seatbelt airbag (3 months) will not go out. There is never a recall and a problem is never found by mechanic. Can get the engine light off for a little while, but comes back on usually within a week.
Purchased in may of 2019 by owner. Want to make sure if if it has been any recalls. Fixed breaks, still having problems with rotors making sound every time I break, shocks and struts from rear side are no longer functional. Air bag system says it is off.
After OCS recall 16v-244. The system is malfunctioning again around 2019. The OCS light will stay off and the passenger seat belt light turn on as it register the seat as occupied and the only solution at that time was to click the seat belt in to simulate someone wearing the seat belt. No child can sit in the front due weight sensors not working. The safety of everyone is at risk at this point due to malfunctioning OCS. After several online research I found many Altima owners complaining about the problem but not able to afford the initial cost of checking the problem and the high cost of repairing the problem in the thousands, only Altima owner still under warranties are able to get relief and thus was not reported. Due to covid pandemic, I drive less and tried to stay away from dealerships as to do my own oil change, I was unable to solve the problem due to high cost they charge to fix it. I mention to them there was a recall recently and it should replace the ecu unit and provide similar fix free of charge. I am guessing the air bag still works as the air bag light is not on at this time. I tried contacting Nissan customer service and was provided with a case #45568871, I was urged to contact NHTSA for further help with a campaign initiation. Thank you.
Air bag lite keeps going off was rekey by Nissan dealer want me to pay for airbag module $3700 Nissan states they would pay half month ago, this is a defective part this is not acceptable, I am a disabled veteran now power as of 3/29/19 is going out after 98,000 cvt trans many consumer complains filed for defective transmissions.
Their has been many complains on this cvt transmission breaking down between 62,000 miles and 99000 miles it is defective Nissan will do nothing and will not acknowledge defective transmission or powertrain and will not pay to replace any it's a major problem and safety, I am a disabled veteran and was stranded many other consumers have experienced the same and also problems with airbags modules.
When some one sits in the passenger seat the seat belt notification ding does not come on and it also says the air bag is turned off. Just recently purchased no accidents reported to my knowledge.
