1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

On April 2018, I visit the Nissan del oeste at aguadilla pr to report noise in the power steering noise, no action was taken, they just said that was normal with all Nissan power steering pump. February 25, 2021 I contact Nissan del oeste at aguadilla pr and notify about the issue of the power steering noise and transmission noise. Appointment for March 2 2021 was set and I notify them with problem. They told me there was not any recall for power steering pump and cvt transmission. I did mention the recalls for 2013 Nissan Altima iaw NHTSA with ref. : st12-009b, ref:ntbb-0176 andTSB ntb12-081. They inform at the voucher the mileage in and out, they did not took the car for a run of 6 miles like it says on voucher 48133s. The main concern is that the car could have any situation with one of those parts just mentioned during a drive and cause any accident with out having the control. My question is, if there is a malfunction for my 2013 Altima that is already knowledge by Nissan motor comp. And provide recalls why my have to be exclude? the power steering noise is at every moment when on and running, power steering fluid is good. The transmmision is during the driving with some noise after 20 miles drive on highway between 65 to 70 mph and then pressing the brake, the noise feel like it come from the transmmision. Another situation is ocaccionaly some lowt of power and some times accelerate. Brakes pads are good, brake fluid is good. My car mpg is 31. 2 and mileage at this moment is 76,680.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise progressing from the rear brakes, which worsened when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal to ensure that the vehicle came to a complete stop. The dealer completed a multi-point inspection, oil change, resurfaced the rotors, and replaced the rear brake pads. The failure recurred six months later. The vehicle was to be taken back to the dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/02/2016

In less than three years and just over 36,000 miles we have serviced the transmission 3-4 times (I've lost count), had it brought in for brake noise (screeching) at least 4 times, and just this week the bearings in both rear wheels had to be replaced. The brakes screech is ear splitting. They reconditioned the surface of the rotors, re-shimmed the pads and replaced the pads 9 months ago. I warned them then that I knew this was only a temporary fix and that I was concerned that they would get noisy again once the warranty expires and that is exactly what has happened. A few months before that they shimmed the pads which made it better temporarily. I told them shims were a band aid for a design flaw and that it wouldn't last. Several weeks later it was back in the shop. The tranny has the shakes. It has been reprogrammed, the alternator was replaced because supposedly the voltage variation was affecting the timing of the tranny, and most recently a vale body was replaced. The oscillation problem is better for now but my wife had it buck again last week just not as bad. It's just a matter of time on this too. Their competitors do not have this problem. I am highly concerned that I have more bearing issues in the future. Two out of two bearing sets failing (the fronts bearings are different) is a 100% failure rate in less than 36k. All three problems (brakes, transmission and bearings) are known issues in this year, google it.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/29/2012

I purchased a 2013 Nissan Altima 2. 5 s in July of 2012 with 349 miles on it. I have had numerous problems and have returned the vehicle on several occasions for repair and have yet to find a solution to the problem. In the mean time they are only getting worse. The first problem occurred 2 weeks after I purchased it. I got in my car and applied the brake and pushed the button to start the car and the car hesitated, it was almost like the starter had hung up. I wasn't too worried at first and figure it was just a one time fluke, but it wasn't. Nearly five days later it occurred again and atleast one or twice a week there after. After 4 weeks and it having done it about 4 times by then I made and appointment to have it service and a few days later I noticed 2 new noise problems. I was driving with window down one day and heard a loud chiming or jingling noise coming from what sounded like the front driver tire. It pretty much sounded to be a loose nut or screw jingling around somewhere. Then a few days after that's when the brakes started squealing. And it was terrible and very loud, like nails on chalkboard and very embarrassing. So when I bring it to be serviced they tell me that the issue I had when started could not be duplicated and that the brakes where cleaned and the rotors where shaved down and also that they put no squeal on. And for the issue with the jingling noise was that a screw was loose and rattling around on the engine cover. But when I drove the next day the brakes started squealing again so once more 2 weeks later I return it again. And they tell me they have to shave the rear rotors this time. When I leave this time the squealing does not return for 2 weeks. So once more I return it this time they tell me that dirt is caked under my brake pads and all I can do is pretty much pressure wash them every day. That's not quality!.

13 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/03/2010

Brakes, pads, rotors replaced numerous times, car steering wheel vibrates horribly when braking ,brakes squeal horribly with braking (metallic) . Rotors very cheap, have to be replaced every 20,000 miles for $400. 00. Had complete rear brakes, rotors done last at 90000,then at 121,000, metallic noise again at 125,000-serviced, 130,000 squeak again, 200 miles later brakes bad again, rotor turned, now at 130,000 brakes squeaking again, car vibrates with braking again and cars brakes don't respond as well. Horrible horrible dangerous brakes, rotors, etc . I have never had a car need new rotors every brake job!!!!!!.

14 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 1998 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/04/2009

1. Was driving south on hwy 101 in California at 60 mph. 2. Brakes failed to slow car down, only released an odor as the pads appeared to be smoldering. Accelerator appeared to be frozen and for a couple minutes actually accelerated. 3. Applied brakes repeatedly, pulled on hand brake, pressed on cruise control on off switch, pressed on cruise control cancel and set switches. Up until then the cruise control was not working at all anyway. But, it appeared that cruise control was on and non-responding to the brakes. Went past exit and continued down highway toward gilroy, CA with no ability to stop vehicle. After approximately 10 miles, car began to slow down by itself and I exited. While driving on a city street, on the same day, the incident occurred again while traveling 30 mph. I was able to force the transmission into neutral and stop in the right lane of traffic by pulling forcefully on the emergency brake. At the auto shop, I was shown completely disintegrated brakepad on the left and a paper thin brakepad on the right. Both rotors were 80% covered with large black blotches. Brakes and rotors were replaced one week later.

15 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

2008 Nissan Altima 7,000 miles front brake pads are too hard. They cut into the brake rotors and cause car to stop poorly. They also screech. When stopping. At 7,500 service shop turned the rotors but did not replace the pads, so the hard pads will continue to cut into rotors and make stopping difficult. My 20005 Ford freestyle had similar problems and Ford recalled and replaced pads with softer ones and cured the problems. Numerous owners of 2007 and 2008 Nissan Altimas are having the same problem please investigate.

16 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/14/2008

I had the vehicle reviewed on April 23, 2013 with your elhart michigan Nissan service department. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I was told that the rear brakes pins and slides had no lubrication in them when my wife personally watched the mechanic lubricate them when the most recent pads were installed 2 weeks ago. One of the pins is an aftermarket because the existing one was frozen at the servicing and needed to be replaced. I questioned the Nissan shop manager who called me regarding the recommendation of the owners manual for maintenance of this particular area of the vehicle and he indicated that it is not mentioned. I am now in my words "stuck" with a safety part of my car which I must watch religiously and I can expect to spend $1000's of dollars in parts and maintenance. This car did not yet have 60,000 miles on it and has already gone through all 4 rotors 2 sets of front pads and 4 sets of rear pads. My Ford vehicle has 240,000 miles and is on its 3rd set of pads and second set of front rotors. I cannot believe that a prestigious brand of Nissan is expecting their customers to swallow this. Yes, I am also one of those customers where you replaced my engine at 11,000 miles because of excessive engine oil usage. I know that design and manufacturing mistakes occur, its how the manufacturer responds to the mistakes that determine the difference in obtaining customer loyalty. I will be contacting the cnn consumer site to report this as the internet is full of similar complaints where the owners are being told that it is their fault.

17 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/28/2007

The brakes on my 2005 Nissan Altima needed to be completely replaced due to wear for the second time in only 60k miles. The first time was at 25k and I was surprised because I have never had problems like this on any vehicle I have owned.

18 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/01/2007

We bought a 2007 Altima (used) which still had all original manufacture parts on it. The second day that we had it the brakes started squealing. When I took it to the dealer they had it from 7am until I finally got it back at 11pm which seemed weird and upset me very much. They told me that all they needed to do was clean the pads and for extra help they sprayed some stuff on them to keep it from squealing. The next day started squealing again, so I took it back and they told me that they just found out that Nissan's corporate tech's were trying to find out what caused all of the Altima's to have this issue. Then they wanted to put new pad on for me to see if it would help. I agreed and to bring it in the next day and I went home and marked the pads myself and when I took it in I asked to see the old pads when they were finished. When I went in and they showed me the pads they were not the ones I marked and they insisted that they were and the issue was fixed. And they said there will probably be a fix or a recall by next year and to just deal with it if it started squealing again which started as I was still in the dealers parking lot. Please help.

19 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/01/2007

Since I have gotten my 2007 Nissan Altima, there has been various issues/problems with it. One of my complaints has been the brakes. I was told by my dealership that the squeaky screeching noise is normal for all Nissan's which I thought was a bunch of crap. Through the years, no matter if replacing brake pads to calibers I should not have the squeaking still.

20 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

I have a 2007 Nissan Altima. Since 7500 miles, my brakes squeak when brake pedal is pressed. I have had my car in numerous times at the Nissan dealership and have been told that there is nothing wrong with my brakes. They acknowledge that they hear the squeak but do not consider it a defect. I complained to Nissan USA and was told that when they contacted the dealership that checked the brakes, they were told that there was not a problem and they were never able to duplicate the noise that I was hearing when I stopped. I told was told via email that there was nothing that Nissan north America could do to help me. This is very poor customer service. I was also told that when it was time for a brake job, the new pads should not squeak. The service tech told me that the 2008 Altima's did not have this problem.

21 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/29/2007

Brand new 2007 Nissan Altima took to deale r at 2915 for oil change and asked them to check brakes. They told me they needed to replace back brake pads. While waiting 6 hours they finally were going to let me take it, but the warning light came on. The mechanics were not sure what caused this and they needed the car to stay. At one point I was told the computerwas not doing what it was supposed to with the car. After several days I was told they would need to replace the wiring harness. Needless to say when I finally picked up the car they only fixed the wiring harness. It had trouble starting as well. I wait several minutes checking to see that car was in park and brake pedal pushed in and pushed on the ignition with thumb, and nd it took several tries before car started. Mind you this was a brand new car? very frustrated.

22 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/05/2007

Complete brake job required at 56,000km. New rear rotors & pads, new front pads. Did not bother with Nissan service. Earliest I have ever replaced brakes in an automobile. Very light highway driving.

23 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/27/2007

We own a 2005 Nissan Altima with 24,000 miles. While on vacation last February 2007 and we heard this noise coming from the back of the car. Had no warning before this. If we had we would have left this car home. We live in rochester, NY. The noise started in winchester,va. Since to us it was still a new car we did not think anything about it. We drove to savannah, GA. Since the noise was getting worse we took it to a Nissan dealership. They told us that road salt had rusted the left side rear caliper. We had a very mild winter in 2005-2006 and 2007 winter started off very mild/ he stated that the left side rear brake pads , no problem with the right rear brake. Pads and rotor)and left rotor wore out. They cleaned both rear calipers, resurfaced right rotor, replaced rear pads and left rear rotor. It cost us $309. We feel that this was a defective part not wear and tear. The car has not been abused since I am the one that drives it most. Nissan states that since we did not do the 15,000 warranty check they can not help us. We also found out that rear brakes should get at least 60,000 miles. Also when we asked a close relative who was a service manager for Nissan he consulted another person who said that since the repair was done in a different" warranty zone "than were the car was purchased that would be difficult to follow up. To me that makes no sense since car mishaps can happen anywhere. We feel we have a legitimate gripe and should get reimbursed from Nissan. One of the reasons we purchased this car was that consumer reports gave the braking system a very good rating.

24 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/25/2006

26 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/01/2006

In March 06 I brought my 2005 Nissan Altima, which I bought brand new, in for an oil change at 19,000 miles when my mechanic stated that my rear brakes were worn. I then brought it to my dealer and the too stated that my rear brakes were prematurely worn, the pad down to the metal more so on the passenger side, they don't know why but warranty would not cover it. After numerous phone calls to Nissan of America and my dealer I had to pay $260 for rear brakes. Now its December and 10,000 miles later and the rear brakes are grinding again. I brought it back to the dealer and they stated again that they were worn and would replace just the right rear pads and resurface the rotor. I said there must be something wrong and they stated that there wasn't anything wrong and again the don't know why the brakes were worn. They just said that Altimas go through brakes faster. I don't buy it. I have a call into Nissan now, maybe this time they will do something.

28 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/19/2004

At 2 years of ownership and 37,000 miles my rear brakes have failed completely; calipers, pads, rotors, etc. All need replacement. Front brakes are "ok" for now and only half as worn as the rear brakes. This doesn't seem right to me. Of course, it is not warrantied since it is over the 36,000 miles or 3 years. I have read numerous other complaints from consumers about this happening to them too. I bought my car new in 2002 and have driven mostly highway miles. What, besides defective parts in the first place, would cause this kind of parts failure?.

29 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2004 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/16/2004

When applying brakes from 55-60 mph it causes the vehicle to shimmy and/or vibrate. Vehicle has been to the dealer on three separate occasions. On the first incident dealer turned or resurfaced both front brake rotors at 9,761 miles; second incident occurred at 13,930, in which the dealer had to replace both front rotors and both front brake pads, and currently at 23,000 miles dealer needs to resurface both front rotors and replaced both front pads again. Consumer anticipates this problem would keep recurring.

30 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/31/2004

I experienced warped rotors on my 2002 Altima after driving for less than 18 months. This was a premature failure that is not covered under warrantee. Pads were also replaced.

31 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/15/2003

Defect rotor: I have being driving my Altima 02 for 2 years. Three weeks ago (22 month), at less than 17000 miles, I took my car for a brake check because it made a lot of noise. The technician at performance Nissan dealership found that both rear rotors and pads need to be replaced and the front rotors needed to be cleaned and machined. It surprised me since it is such a short period of time and mileage. By the way, I placed a order for rear rotors from a Nissan dealership in TX. They told me they have to place a national order to find the part, and I have to wait for a unknown period of time for the part to come in. So everyday, I have to walk to work. Rusty gas intake pipe: there is a hole at the intake above the left rear tire, so mud and water came in during snow weather, then the intake mouth became rusty.

32 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/05/2002
