3 Brakes Failed problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/17/2019

While driving the vehicle, notification of "Feb: unavailable front radar obstruction" comes on and stays illuminated for upwards of 5 to 10 minutes before turning off. This occurs when there are no vehicles in front of mine and no road hazards that would have triggered it to turn on. I feel that this is a big safety issue with the way the car is designed to stop when it detects a hazard. This started out randomly over this past summer and in the last week, has been a daily occurrence. When I spoke to the dealership about it, the soonest they had an opening to address it is a month away. No a happy camper, feels like they are not as concerned as I am with the safety of my vehicle. Brake switch failure less than one year of ownership of the vehicle. Unable to push the brake pedal in to start the vehicle. The only way to get the switch to release is to tap on it with a hammer. This issue has been occurring fairly regularly for the past week before I could get it to the dealership today. (is supposed to be fixed tomorrow??) at one point, the vehicle failed to start altogether. Popped the hood to jump start it, and noticed black powdery stuff on the top of the battery as though the batter had gotten too hot and boiled over possibly. The dealership test the battery and told me that my battery is fine and fully charged. This was after I had it on the charger for several hours yesterday so that it would start for me to take it to the dealership.

10 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

The car fail start; I see lots of complains where the steering wheel lock in place and so does the brake and the car fails to start. I had the same problem twice already and the dealer told me to replace the key less switch however, the problem continues and I see that the problem was not the key. As I can see others are having similar issues of the car locking in place and the problem is more than just the key problem. . This should be definitely recalled.

In cold temperatures (20f), upon driving the car for the first time in the day, there is no play in the brake pedal and complete brake failure. 15 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

16 Brakes Failed problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/25/2010

On 01/25/2010, I was driving from work and while I attempted to stop to a light, the brakes failed to respond. I couldn't control the car anymore. The car slid, and hit another car in the back, but because the speed was low, the damage was minor. After that, the car was frozen ; the police came and the car was towed to a nearby autobody shop; after the outside damage was fixed, the car was transported to a Nissan dealership because the car was not drivable. (the soft ware was messed up,as the dealer told me). At the Nissan dealership, the software was reset. They couldn't guarantee though that this incident will not happen again. I contacted the manufacturer and explained that this car had a general inspection less than 2 months prior the accident and the annual revision less than3 weeks prior the accident, and now, even the car was fixed the Nissan dealer cannot guarantee that the system will not fail again. The manufacturer decided to sent the car for another inspection to the same Nissan dealer that couldn't guarantee the safety of my car. At this point, I am afraid driving the car.

17 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/08/2009

I've gotten into a car accident involving 2 other cars, and complete brake failure. On October 8, 2009, I was driving by carson beach, located in south boston, MA, trying to find something to eat with a friend. I have seen that I was going only 28 mph's with no cars ahead of me. However, I knew the area was near the south boston state police headquarters, and I did not want any relations with a speeding ticket. I knew the posted speed limit was 30mph but my intent was to go at approximately 25 mph. This is my safety margin incase the speedometer goes up. At this point, the brakes did not work. When I stepped on it once, and numerous times to come, I remember the clunking noises as if someone was putting their feet to the ground, following a musical beat. So I look up and see how much space I got in front of me and noticed there was at least another 1/4 mile with no car in sight. I then look down to definitely make sure I was touching the brake and that it would stop. I looked down and kept stepping on the brake, and end up stretching forward my right foot to push the brakes. That did not work. For first thought, I was thinking I should if turn off the car but I doubt that would've work; it would've locked my steering wheel and braking would be harder. I panicked when I saw the traffic light sitting at red, with 2 cars on the left lane, and one on the right. I thought about having to swerve to the right lane, but there was another car right behind my blindside, so I did not go into the other lane. Sitting in a brand new car, with brake failures, my friend and I were hopeless and resulted in rear-ending 2 completely stopped vehicles innocently waiting for the light to turn green. My car's air bags deployed, but we didn't get hurt. However, the pass. Door was keeping my friend from getting out until someone outside ripped through and yanked the door open for him. At a cruising rate ~29 mph, I crashed into the other cars who were already stopped.

18 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/21/2009

Brakes failed at 7500 miles while driving approximately 47mph on a busy highway. Nissan dealership found all 4 rotors warped and all 4 brakes defective. All were replaced under warranty. 2 days after dealership repairs, a very loud "clunking" noise was noticed while driving on another freeway and brakes failed once again at 50 mph. Another Nissan dealership stated there was a "brake rotor run-out excessive measure" and resurfaced rotors.

19 Brakes Failed problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/13/2009

Nissan Altima '02-05 2. 5/3. 5 models have a known issue with a valve check assembly in a brake vacuum tube. When the car is exposed to extreme cold temperatures for prolonged periods of time, like those experienced this past winter in IL, the valve freezes up and prevents proper operation of the vacuum and thus complete brake failure. It fixes itself after pumping of the brakes several times. I experienced this problem 3 times within a 2 week period. Imagine rolling up to a stop sign only to pump your brakes to the feeling of a brick stuck under them, no stopping action, helplessly coasting right into the intersection. I researched the problem and stumbled on to a Nissan enthusiast forum where it was apparently a known issue to them. They said that Nissan won't even acknowledge this to be an issue and to just order the redesigned part and replace it yourself as it was a dye job. The factory part replacement number is #47430-8j100 (3. 5 model) or #47430-8j000 (2. 5 model). Why did Nissan redesign the part in '06 if they didn't know there was an issue with it? when I called the Nissan dealership where I bought the car, sure enough they wouldn't acknowledge any problem with that part and even went as far as to claim that they have never even ordered that part. They have either never diagnosed the issue correctly or they outright lied to me. I called a different Nissan dealership, ordered the part and installed it myself and have not had the problem despite the subzero temperatures that have occurred since. I'll conclude with the fact that I have zero automotive/mechanical experience. I am a computer systems engineer so I'm used to replacing parts in small spaces on a different type of machinery. But yet I was able to research, diagnose, and fix my own car problem, caused by a known defect in a factory part, with the help of the guys in that forum. How many other people are out there driving ticking-timebomb Altimas that don't have the knowledge to do that??.

23 Brakes Failed problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/11/2006

Rear brakes have failed again - after being replaced at 37,000 miles and 2 years of ownership in 2004. Now at 57,000 miles I need to replace the rear brakes completely again. Obviously the Nissan 'genuine' parts are defective if after only 20,000 the brakes are shot totally again. Why does Nissan keep ripping off the consumers this way and why isn't something done to remedy this situation?.
