1 Brake Sensor problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/06/2021

Purchased 2008 Nissan Altima on March 6, 2021 from the car house in butler, NJ. Since the moment I drove off the lot, multiple lights turned on which turned out to be alternator and multiple 02 sensors. The next day I had a garage do an inspection and it turned out the car needed a rear control arm, shocks, brakes and rotors in additon to the lights. The dealer said that I had a 90 day warranty but when I called the company they had no record of the contract. The dealer fixed the sensors and alternator supposedly, but haven't contacted me back about fixing the other issues and every time I call they hang up.

2 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/03/2020

I was driving on a slightly damp road in the evening (dark). A warning flashed on my dashboard saying that their was obstruction in the road. Suddenly my braking assistance activated causing my car to come to a complete stop. I checked my surroundings, nothing was in the road, beside me, or behind me. Nissan has not claim responsibility for this sensor error. Instead told me that there were damages to my bumper, which was hard to believe. I was recommended to contact my insurance company. An appraiser found no damages to my car or bumper. Case has been dismissed by insurance company.

6 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/04/2020

Since I purchased this 2018 Altima (I had previously driven a 2016 Altima without aeb), I have gotten false positives from the front sensor, stopping my car at random times in clear day light traffic, on dry pavement, with no leaves or other road debris. Front sensor has continuously reported the "front sensor not available" alert multiple times in my cars short lifetime, followed by the crash icon at random times of the days, and all speeds including in the stopped position. The sensor goes out regardless or whether there are other vehicles around. I reported these issues beginningin October 2018 (the same month I purhcased my car). No Nissan vehicle should be equipped with the technology where driver's had no clue when the vehicles will come to a halt and lock without warning. This commonly happens when there are cars around me and there is a change in speed (anticipated or nto), which is common in la. My front sensor has malfunctioned several times and engaged the brakes, several times while driving on the freeway at 50mph. My car also seems to lug at times when I brake from a distance and normally which concerns me. I have reported this issues to technicians and had the brakes checked with no problems found so I have had no choice but to wait for the issues with my brakes and car to compile. The owner's manual admits aeb systems do "not function in all driving, traffic, weather, and road conditions" but the manual leaves out the part about how the systems can cause vehicles to suddenly stop even when no objects are in the driving lane. I originally reported this issue to steve yaeger on October 19, 2018--the same month I purchased the vehicle. Have brought in my vehicle into to Nissan various times in the first 3 months but technicians always told me there is nothing they can do and just shake off my concerns/try to give explanations.

7 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/22/2020

2018 Nissan Altima sl while driving in rain the message front radar unavailable due to obstruction, appears. Vehicle begins to shake and the back brakes engage without touching them. Vehicle tries to hydroplane. Vehicle slows to approx 35 or 40 miles per hour. It feels like the back passengers wheel is locked up. I have owned this vehicle for 7 months. The aeb sensor has been replaced. This problem has happened 3 times since the replacement. Always while driving in the rain.

8 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/02/2020

After 10 min of operation and at a regular speed in a frw 55 mph the collusion sensor comes up stating that there is no warning if a car is too close to the front of vehicle. Cruse control doesn't work and appears that works with the collusion sensor.

9 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/15/2020

Radar sensor for aeb and fcw malfunctioning, turning off at random situations, braking when no vehicle is near, false alerts crossing rail road tracks, etc. Took to Nissan dealership under warranty but issue was not fixed since they claim to be because of potential prior crash. Vehicle has not been reported in a crash, and aeb is malfunctioning constantly to the point where it may be unsafe instead of a safety feature.

10 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/18/2019

A warning in the dash that says, front radar unavailable due to obstruction. the vehicle does this while in motion. The vehicle has 52190 miles on it at this time. The warning will reset when turning off the car and restarting. There are no items obstructed. Nissan dealership stated very common and replacing a lot of them. $1200 is the cost of repair quoted and the service advisor knew that without looking it up. This has to do with the radar sensor that is used for the automatic emergency braking system.

11 Brake Sensor problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/13/2019

My vehicle was in motion on a city street. I went to make a turn because of a curve and my steering wheel and brake would not work. My emergency brake system (which is suppose to stop my vehicle before impact, did not deploy. I ran straight into a stone wall and fence. I received a recall letter in the mail about the back sensor, but my sensors were working up until my accident. My vehicle was deemed totalled. It was not raining, I was not speeding, and when the police came out to do an investigation, they could only determine that it was a mechanical problem. Why did the sensor not work? why didn't my cars emergency brake system not work? now I'm having to get a new vehicle without even knowing why the safety systems put in place did not deploy. Thank god my son was not in the car and no one else was injured.

12 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/10/2019

While driving on the highway, during the morning, my car activated the brakes on its own, this is the second time this happens the first time I took it to the dealer and asked for the sensors to be removed, and kept it for a whole day and apparently nothing was done, secondly the (front radar obstruction) is becoming annoying. Another of the issues I encountered with this my Altima is the shifting, from 2nd to 3rd gear it feels as if the gears were stuck, also took it in the dealer and they said this could not be true because my Altima doesn't have a regular transmission it has a band, so I responded, you know more than me, just please make a note of my issue and I don't want to be stuck with a lemon, I am sure I'm not the only one that has encountered these issues.

13 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/06/2019

While driving a sensor light appears and reads obstruction unavailable and stays for several minutes before turning off this happens at least 5 to 6 times a week. Another problem im having is a knocking sound under driver feet while driving and turning I took it in to have it checked and the technician drove it heard the sound kept the car a whole day but said he couldn't find anything wrong but clearly there is a problem if he and I hear can hear the noise. When I picked the car up it still makes the same sound and I'm afraid while driving something may happen to the wheels. It sounds to me like this is a rotor problem. I've taken the car in twice regarding this same problem and it has not been fixed. Since purchasing this car it has been in service at least 10 times with different problems 3 times for brakes, one time for not being able to push brake to start two times for excessive wind noise from windows had front and back brakes replaced twice and now having to take it back to replace window seals and knocking noise that has not been fixed. Nissan really did a poor job building the particular car not even two years from purchase with several problems very unsatisfied customer.

14 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/12/2019

2018 Nissan Altima has a defective push start and braking system. Unable to start car with push start because it feels as if the brakes are stuck. Have to continously pump the break in a effort to get the brake to release in order to start the car. There is also an issue with the front radar sensors. I while in motion I randomly receive an audible alert and warning message saying that the front radar is unavailable due to obstruction yet there would nothing in front of the car.

15 Brake Sensor problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/09/2019

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that shortly after they purchased their vehicle they noticed that the hood of their vehicle would not align properly. The contact took the vehicle to a specialist who repaired the vehicle with a bump stop nod. However, the vehicle's hood became loose and began to make a rattling noise. The contact stated the vehicle' s remote start button began to malfunction. Also, when the contact was stopped at a red light, or whenever, they attempted to apply the brake pedal, they noticed the vehicle would hesitate to brake and hesitate to accelerate. The contact stated that the vehicle's emergency brakes would suddenly activate or the brakes, themselves, would prematurely activate without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealership (coggin Nissan on atlantic in jacksonville address: 10600 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, FL 32246 phone: (904) 747-3915) who informed them that sensors needed to be cleaned and the shutter grill was malfunctioning. The vehicle's shutter grill was replaced. The contact stated that three days after while driving approximately 60 mph when another vehicle cut in front of another vehicle, the contact attempted to apply the brake pedal, however, the brake pedal travelled to the floor causing the contact to rear-end another vehicle. The air bags did deploy. The vehicle was towed. A police report was filed. The contact received injuries to their right leg, both arms and head. Medical attention was needed. The contact contacted the manufacturer who stated that the brakes were a supplementary aid, as well as, opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 1,619.

16 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/20/2019

The forward collision warning component becomes unavailable when there is nothing (no dirt or rain, snow) blocking the sensor. I keep the sensor wiped clean and on a nice sunny day, while vehicle is in motion on the highway, boulevard, residential streets. The sensor warning will tell me fcw unavailable with the symbol of two cars crashing. It goes on for a while then off then back on again. In the photo below, I'd just pulled over to take the picture of the symbol. (this was 08/20/19. 10 days after my car purchase 08/10/19) at that time the symbol only is showing. I'd just turned off the boulevard from driving 40mph. Can't get a pic of message while car is in motion, of course. This is now a regular occurrence for the 3 months I've had my car. Taking into mechanic to get it checked end of November 2019. This warning occurs at various speeds.

17 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/25/2019

I have 2018 Nissan Altima sr special edition with about 25,000 miles on it. For the past few months the indicator front radar unavailable due to obstruction has been going off constantly. Last night when I was coming home from work on a major highway the indicator came up and shortly after the blinking yellow indicator of a car came up and started breaking by itself, twice. The first time I was traveling about 75 mph and the drivers assistant started breaking. There was not a car in front of me or around me at all. I pulled over immediately and saw nothing in the way of the sensor. The second time it happened probably about 10 miles from the first time it happened. Then, I turned off the drivers assistants. This could have been a very bad accident if there was another car around me at the time. I took my car in this morning to the dealership I bought the car from. The service girl who I deal with every time I go to the dealership for service. Got my car right in and found out the sensor was bad and it needed to be replaced and got me into a loaner vehicle because I needed to go to work and couldn't wait. I'll be picking up my car tomorrow and hoping this won't happen again!! Nissan you should issue a recall on the matter right away. Obviously by reading other consumers issue they are the same as mine and that is why I am writing this review!.

18 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/30/2019

The front collision radar sensor keeps going off and on. Took into dealer and said it was a very common problem and don't know why it is not recalled yet. The part is $1500 which is over 10% of the vehicle. This is a safety issue as I do not know when it is on or off. The the sensor goes off stay front sensor is unavailable due to obstruction and there is nothing there. It will turn off and on several times in a drive.

19 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

I bought my 2018 Nissan Altima sr midnight edition around October 2018. When I reached about 8,500 miles the cars front radar sensor went off, and my Altima would say front radar unavailable due to obstruction, and this would go on and off the whole week. I called the dealer and they told me to come and we'll take a look at it. That week I went to the dealership and they told me that it's cover by warranty and that the front radar sensor needs to be recalibrated. Waited the whole day for them to fix it. When I left the dealership 10 miles out the front radar went off again, and I was fuming that my new car is doing this. I called back and told the that the sensor is doing the same thing again. They told me that they will order and new sensor for you and will fix it when the part arrives. Two weeks later the dealership never called or emiled me. I call them up and they said that the part is here and to bring the car in anytime. So I go in to the dealership and they changed the part. Day 1 was good no issues. Day 2 was good no issues. Day 3 the cars abs system kicks in and brings my car to a full stop for no reason what so ever. There was no car in front of me, no pedestrians nothing. The weather was a clear sunny day and I driving in manhattan with a client in my car going 25 mph. The whole car was shaking I heard the tire skid and the whole car was shaking, I got soo scared. The car behind me almost hit me and the guy comes out his car arguing with me on why I stoped suddenly for no reason. I told him it wasn't me the car stoped on it's own, but he didn't believe me and gave me a couple cuss words. I was in rage, and scared at the same time. I called the dealership again and told them the issues, they told me come in and we'll look at it for you. Im so angry because I could have been in an accident form the same thing that is supposed to prevent an accident.

20 Brake Sensor problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/22/2019

I was driving the freeway and lost power engine and shut offs I'm not sure how I didn't have the accident yet. Take it to mechanic find out it was a throttle body position sensor and the throttle body camshaft position sensor crankshaft position sensor replaced all that still giving the same problem how to replace it again. So the speed limit was 70 I was going 65 so lost lost in the entire engine at speed of 65 is really difficult to maneuver.

21 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/21/2018

The front radar aeb keeps going out, almost the reason for my vehicle to not stop in an emergency situation. This feature was the complete reason I bought it now I feel like it is dangerous. I am considering asking for complete buy out of my loan. I have taken the car back 3 times in 3, Nissan has no answers other than keep replacing faulty sensor with more faulty sensor.

22 Brake Sensor problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

During random driving the forward collision sensor comes on stating that forward collision is unavailable. Sometimes the sensor will go off 1-2 times or up to 6 times in one day. This sensor controls the (aeb) automatic emergency braking. Nissan has acknowledged this issue in several cars but no recall has been issued. This vehicle is my work vehicle and my personal Nissan pathfinder has already had the part replaced with less than 10,000 miles. Currently my vehicle is out of warranty and they want $1700. 00 for repair of faulty safety parts. I've been driving in perfectly sunny days, on bumpy back alley, just driving on the highways and the sensor goes off. I believe that this issue is more widespread than they acknowledge. Our fleet of company cars are experiencing the same problem with the rogue, Altima.

23 Brake Sensor problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/02/2018

I own a Nissan Altima 2013, and sadly I've more problems with this vehicle than any other I ever owned. The engine stalls when in notion and stationery. Sometimes it takes multiple tries to even get it started. The interior door handles on the both the driver and passenger side broke and had to be replaced. The air bag sensors had to be replaced. The hood latch had to be replaced. And the back brakes have been changed three times and it s still has a awful lengthy squeak which is very embarrassing. So say the least this is very disappointing considering I'm still paying over three hundred dollars a month for a car not and still have to come out of pocket for repairs that the extended warranty supposedly does not cover. Very disappointed with this purchase. All of these issues have happened over time and I'm still having issues to this day.

24 Brake Sensor problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/06/2016

Issue: unintended acceleration conditions: 2pm/clear/parking lot while making u-turn to the right, brakes did not respond. Stepped again on brakes, more firmly, but did not slow car which continued to roll slowly forward about 7 mph. Suddenly, loud revving, car continued forward roll. Immediately, added left foot to brake, pressing with full weight. No response. About 2-3 second after revving/hard braking, the car opened full throttle and hurtled forward about 1-1/2 to 2 car lengths; slammed into wall. Airbag did not deploy my car had only 25290 miles (only about two years of normal usage) at the time the system failed. My left knee sustained small gash from the underside of the steering column when I was slammed back after impact threw me forward, forehead knocked the upper steering wheel. Note: about 1 month prior to accident, the audio controls on my steering wheel honked the horn instead. The next day, they were ok. The same thing happened when tested at the collision center after accident; it's on tape. The rep at the collision center was informed of the switch problem from the start. When I them tested days later, the audio controls worked properly. Also, an indicator on the dash went from showing the mpg with a bar as I accelerated or slowed, then switched to a digital report of 18 mpg/city. It kept shifting between these indicators without my interference. Finally, the airbag failed to deploy although impact clearly exceeded 15 mph. I believe there was a severe failure of the electrical system; the cvt system with its sensors, etc. Is dependent on it. My account parallels reports I have uncovered about sudden acceleration. I noted that often an event was precipitated by a slowing, and a turn. When I recently talked to a Nissan tech about the switches, airbag, indicator failures, he mentioned pinched harness could be a possibility.

25 Brake Sensor problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/23/2016

Brake issue, abs, traction, while driving my car at 15 mph my brakes locked up and stopped my car in the middle of the road (with traffic) fairly forceful stop I might add. There has also been a grinding noise when applying the brakes at random time. 1 week prior to the issue with the brakes my driving assist sensors malfunctioned. After obtaining a rental car the Saturday that my brakes failed I was told that Monday morning that my car was fine and that my brakes failed when my driver assist sensors malfunctioned a week prior. Talk about scary and my family no longer feels safe in my car. Nissan told me this was a normal function of the car and there was nothing they could do about it. There is also according to Nissan rep an unknown clanking noise coming from the suspension and or steering. I truly believe that with all of these issues going on there is a huge risk of my family being in harms way.

26 Brake Sensor problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/02/2015

I have a 2009 Nissan Altima which I bought brand new. My car has only 76k miles. The problem is there is rust forming at the floorbeds which is making the car unsafe and is causing brakes issues. I was told Nissan knew about the rust problem from a very longtime. Last week, I spend $210 to fix air leaks due to failed sensors. The problem is affecting brakes and sensors of the car which is making the car unsafe.

The breaks also locked up and breaks could not be applied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing who stated that the abs sensor and caliber needed to be replaced to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000. Rg.

29 Brake Sensor problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

The following had to be fixed all on one visit: my alternator replaced; top motor mount replaced, brake sensor replaced, battery replaced, and had an oil cooler leak fixed. All was covered with my extended warranty ($858 otherwise). It has had a total of 4 batteries, 2 alternators, 2 manna folds (a recall), new shocks and struts (I paid for) and my transmission warranty was extended to 120,000 miles. (there was also another recall to the fuel tank but can't remember any specifics). I take great care of my car, have it maintained regularly, and only use quality gas. This is my fourth Nissan and I am greatly disappointed in the quality. I am debating as to wether or not I should trade it in.

31 Brake Sensor problem of the 2001 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/15/2011

When I bought the car there was a piece of tape over the airbag light and auto zone helped me take it off. The Nissan died getting off the interstate and I lost all control of the steering and brakes. Later to find that I needed a oxygen sensor and now electrial problems with the airbag light being on. I took the car to the dealership and they said I needed evac hoses but all the dealer did was unhook one so they could charge me for codes because they could not find my problem with no engine light present. So my machanic found the unhooked hose and put it back on and it was previously not unhoooked. The car dies randomly in traffic and is very hazardous to be rear ended or even to hit some one else with the dealer not even knowing how to properly resolve this issue???? my machanic will be helping me to make this car safer for me to drive.

32 Brake Sensor problem of the 2004 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/23/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Altima. The braking system failed without warning. While driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brakes would screech and the vehicle would not slow down. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they reset the brake sensors, which should have corrected the failure. Less than a week after the vehicle was repaired, while driving 25 mph, the contact approached a stop sign. He depressed the brake pedal and, instead of the vehicle losing speed and eventually coming to a stop, it just made a screeching noise and continued to move. The vehicle rear ended a parked vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact drove to the Nissan dealer, where it is currently located. The vehicle is currently being serviced by the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 74,000.

33 Brake Sensor problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/09/2008

As I was driving the road at a good distance from the vehicle in front of me, the other veh stopped suddenly. I put foot on the brakes but I skid to his rear bumper with my front end. I was traveling about 40 miles per hour. The passenager side air bags deployed and the seatbelt tighten, but mind did not. Which caused me to strike the steering wheel and multiple injuries that I'm still suffering. When my vehicle was take to mechanic , he stated my air bag sensors were not activated and he stated that I did not have anti-lock brakes which could have caused me not to have the accident. I purchased the vehicle from a local dealership in July 2007, before purchasing I had firestone inspect the veh for any defects or mechanical problems. They never said anything was wrong with my sensors or that I lacked anti-lock brakes. The dealership was to have done a safety check on my vehicle and I was never told that my vehicle had a recall for air bags. Had I known I would made it was fixed before purchasing and I would have not suffered injuries. My vehicle was totalled from that crash anther other vehicle a 2006 Nissan maxim had a couple dents and scratches. My vehicle was totalled on 03/17/08 and I'm still going to the doctor for pain. I do not know what to do about this issue but I going to make sure something is done very soon.

34 Brake Sensor problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/29/2008

1. Vehicle's exhaust pipe hanger caught bag of debris from the road and felt like the car was falling apart in the rear. Debris was removed by discount tires after purchasing new wheels and tires. 2. Service engine warning light is on. Engine has reduced power and it causes the engine to stop running without warning during operation, with vibrating noises. Nissan states that the cam sensor with crank sensor is faulty and should be replaced. Apparently it is under recall and they want us to pay for a recalled item. 3. Engine long block was replaced on 2/14/06 because of catastrophic engine failure, and the engine continues to have problems with vibrating and sluggishness. 4. Rear engine mount replaced in 11/03/04 as recommended. Now, passenger upper mount was recommended to be changed on 3/14/08. 5. Air conditioning is blowing hot air and we replaced air conditioning high side compressor and oil recharged system in 6/01/07, as recommended. As of today 3/30/08 air conditioning is blowing hot air again. We purchased new wheels, tires and brakes because of the vibration in the car and steering column with low sounding noise. We have consistently taken our car in for maintenance, recalls and additional mechanical problems with very minimal resolutions. Thank you.
