1 Ignition Module problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/13/2013

On 3/13/2013 I drove my vehicle to work at approximately 8:55am and parked everything in car was fully operational and functioned properly. At 6:30pm I approached my vehicle unlocked the door using my key fob, entered the vehicle and proceeded to press the ignition button and nothing happens. After switching on the headlights and noticing no power issues I noticed a flashing indicator light in the dash that said no key present. After being the only car left in the dark secluded parking lot I started off on a journey to purchase a battery for the key fob and it did not solve the phenomenon. I had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership which is about 60 miles away from my home. The dealer after investigating for a matter of minutes were quickly able to diagnose the problem which was a steering lock module that was very costly. Upon further research, I found that there are a great number of Altima's and other Nissan vehicle that are infected with the same defective steering lock devices that causes you to randomly be stranded in secluded areas without prior notice. This I find highly unethical for Nissan to be totally aware of such defective equipment and not have any concern for the welfare of it's customers nor their children. Im hoping that the NHTSA can protect consumers from bullies like Nissan and help us get the recall we deserve. All we want is a reliable product that can perform the way it was intended to perform. So let's do what is necessary to hold Nissan up to the american standard of putting out quality reliable products and not ripping off consumers.

2 Ignition Module problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/28/2012

Upon attempting to start the car, ignition would not change from "lock" to "acc" or "on". Intelligent key warning lamp was lit steady on dash. Steering wheel column was not locked. All power and other functions worked (lights, door locks, etc). Battery is fine. Independent testing found steering lock control module part 48700-9n00b faulty. Similar/same part on Nissan gtrs was recalled, part number 48700-jf00a or 48700-jf00b, being replaced by 48700-jf00c same part number is failing for Nissan 370zs as well, same years and same part number 48700-jf00a or 48700-jf00b, yet they are not being recalled. This problem is also occurring in Nissan maximas and Nissan muranos however I could not find the part number. In all models of Nissan this part was removed in mid 2010 due to consistent failure. The part costs approximately $500 from Nissan, is usually out of stock and back ordered, and also costs another $400-$500 to be installed at a dealer. There should be a make-wide recall for all models for this part, not just the gtr because it's the most expensive of them.

Failure Date: 03/03/2007

I had a recall on my 2003 Nissan Altima. Recall case # r0606. Recall problem being car engine stops while driving. My car has been doing this for about six months now. I was glad to see this recall! because I had taken it to the shop a couple of times and it was never fixed. I took my Nissan into robert woodall Nissan on Friday March 2nd to have this repair done. No less than 24hrs later my Nissan was back doing the same thing again. 7 Ignition Module problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/23/2006

Recall on 2003 Nissan Altima 2. 5l - electrical problem between the crank angle sensor and the ecm. My check engine light came on - I took the car to local dealership (central carolina Nissan - sanford nc) and they refused to replace the crank angle and mass air flow sensors free of charge w/ this recall and stated these parts had to be replaced at a cost to me of apprx. $600 before they could perform the upgrade. I refused to pay this fee and took the car home and the next day it cut off while driving down the road and was able to steer it off the highway w/out incident. I managed to get the car home and called: nca dept. Nissan n. A. Inc. And was promised a call back by mon. 9/25/6 - ref. # 5477581. No one called and I've spent a couple of hours today 9/26/6 trying to get resolution and have now been promised a call back by the end of the day 9/27/6 from the regional office. I'm holding my breathe and I'm still not able to drive my car. Rickey collins phone: (919)770-9670.

8 Ignition Module problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/20/2006

On or about Jan. 20, 2006 while driving my vehicles' check engine light would come on and then the vehicle would cut off. We took it took it to fontana Nissan for repairs. The car was returned to us on Jan. 28, 2006. Maybe 2 - 3 hrs. After getting the vehicle, we were driving to l. A. Area and the check engine light came on again. We called the service mgr. At fontana Nissan and he said to bring it back and they would look at it on the following mon. Well, we never made it back because while we were in route home (fontana) I lost control of the car while it was shutting off on the 91 fwy. To the 605 interchange. After the crash, the car was towed and the insurance company repaired the external damages (body work) but the internal was not fixed. Then in June 2006 while driving home, the car cut off again. Fontana Nissan said it was the battery. So we purchased a battery. I refused to drive the car because we feel that the next time we might not be so lucky. In Jan. 2007 there was a recall on the Nissan Altima for the same problem we had and consequently caused the crash. We were being represented by a law firm but as time passed our warranty expired. I am very afraid to drive the vehicle. Which I have not driven since 2006. I would really appreciate someone's help in this situation.

10 Ignition Module problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/11/2004

The first thing was the oxygen sensor. Then the oxygen sensor again. The dealership fixed the problem. Mext there was, and still is, the jerking transmission. When driving in rush hour traffic or driving on the open highway, the trans shifts hard comming out of first into second. I have taken this car into several Nissan dealerships and to this day, no one has found the problem. They keep telling me that this is normal. I have driven other Altimas including several rentals while mine wasin the shop and they didn't shift like mine. The next problem is those headlights. They have replaced one of my light asemblies an great river Nissan but the other has not been replaced. Next, there was the heater coil that leaked and it took almost 6 months to determine because it didn't leak inside the car. Next there was the ignition coils that were replaced 2x within a week and still caused the check engine light to come on. After the ignition problem the mechanics at sterling mccall Nissan told my that it was my sparkplugs that had hust been checked about 2 weeks prior at great river Nissan in mississippi. I went back to the dealership and invited the service man to a nice long ride. After driving about 20 miles, I stopped the car and le it sit for about 5 minutes. The car started and he smiled. He said, "see there is nonthing wrong. " after explaining that he needed to let the car set for a while and then try to start it, he said that it is still going to start. After sitting for about 2 hours, I asked the service man to step outside and lets giv the car a start. . . To no suprise, when I turned the key the car puttered, spitted, jerked, and everything else but started. It was determined the next morning that there was a blown head gasket that could have been caused by the catalyst that was just replaced due to a recall.

11 Ignition Module problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/01/2002

This car has been a lemon since day one, in and out of dealership for one reason or the other, it started with the car running hard, dealership told me it was because I have broke the car in and now this is how they run, took it back again 3 to 4 more times with same problem, told them car idles high, shifts bad, runs bad, they said nothing wrong, I do alot of highway miles and as soon as I was over the miles and out of the warrenty they told me that the motor mounts were gone only 800 to get fixed, I was then hit by a car head on and really hurt I suffered major back problems , come to find out I probaby could have prevented some of the damage to my self if I had a saver car, my air bags didn;t deploy. I have had every recall to this car , the service men at the dealserships are the rudest men I have ever delt with. I was right the whole time !!!!! I have also experienced the same thing with the lights cost around 800 to fox kept changing the lights not to mentions the tickets I recieved from the cops , I explained to them the light keeps going out, they are like this is a 02 that doesn't happen, if they only knew!!! I am really tired of this car , now I was just told that the car has another problem, it over heats they think it might be the therostat but they don't know. How much money will that cost me??? I am one angry person when it comes to this car!!!!!!!.
