2 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/17/2020

The vehicle gear shift would not move from the park (p) position while depressing the brake pedal. Apparently this is a known shift lock issue based on similar complaints on the NHTSA website as well as Nissan owner testimonies. The fault as it was explained by a Nissan technician was the shifter shorts-out the shift lock solenoid which engages the unlock for the shifter when the brake pedal is depressed. Cost to repair the issue is roughly $800 by replacing the shift handle assembly and this "repair" is due to a failure of a low cost solenoid switch. The consumer should not be accountable of faulty design. According to Nissan, this is not a safety or design issue, but wear and tear of the vehicle. Hopefully NHTSA will review the facts of these common occurrences and determine if it is indeed worthy of recall repair.

3 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

I bought the car at roughly 54k miles. Approximately around 62k, the air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. I work on residential ac units. My pressures are equalized. I bypassed the pressure switch temporarily during diagnostics to see if the pressure switch was the issue. The problem continued when bypassed. The issue is either the clutch specifically or the compressor is bad. Here recently, I have noticed a "jerking" motion when attempting to accelerate. Obviously, this will be the shift solenoid or the cvt. Cvt fluid is good. These issues have been going on with 2009 Altimas for over 8 years now. Why hasn't there been a recall? what is required to get a recall in effect? there have been multiple complaints regarding cvts, start/stop procedures, and ac problems, but not one recall concerning this has happened. Nissan refuses to help.

4 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/22/2017

Shift locks in park leaving me in a non-operating situation at a gas station. Luckily I had a screw driver in my glove box was able to locate and push down on the "shift release" button allowing me to move into drive. Since the incident, the shift consistently locks in park position and @38k, have surpassed the warranty with Nissan. Unfortunately Nissan doesn't sell the solenoid separately and had to purchase the full assembly @$451. 90 + $250 labor. Since 1990, I've consistently held onto my car for 8 - 10 years averaging 150k mi. Per vehicle. I really hope this flags the attention and fits the protocol of a recall.

5 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/02/2016

I am unable to shift car out of park without defeating the interlock. I have to use something like a screw driver to push something in the small hole next to the shifter every time I need to put the car in gear. Suspect the switch or solenoid or wiring connected to brake pedal failed. This happens whenever the car is in park and not moving.

6 Starter Solenoid problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/07/2005

At about 9,500 miles, faulty starter caused the car failed to start and stalled while driving on the freeway. I towed the car to the dealer where I purchased from and they tested right then, the car won't start but sparks with alot of white smoke from the tail pipe. I bought this car brand new on 7/4/04 with 50 miles on it.
