Nissan Frontier owners have reported 37 problems related to air bag not deploy (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Frontier based on all problems reported for the Frontier.
The airbag light stays flashing and does not turn off on the truck. I drove the truck with my friend and we were both in our seat belts, for an entire 1 hour ride the light kept flashing. The airbag light starts flashing as soon as I start the truck now and does not shut off unless I park the car and turn the car off. This is a serious safety issue, if the airbag does not deploy due to the faulty sensor even when seat belts are worn I am sure that is a hospital case and a lawsuit waiting to happen. Please make Nissan rectify this problem.

We purchased our 2016 Nissan Frontier in October 2016. Unfortunately we have been involved in three major car accidents and two out of the three times the air bags did not deploy. Every accident we were involved in cost over $10,000 to repair our vehicle so we know that the front end damage was very severe. We would like our vehicle inspected for any air bag mail function the last accident we were involved in we hit very hard and the air bags didn't deploy I hit the steering wheel pretty hard.

The first time my wife was riding in the front passenger seat at night, she noted that the "air bag off" light was illuminated. It is very difficult to see this light during the day. My wife weights 117 lbs and is 5'6" tall. She is not a small adult. We were on a trip, but we took the truck to the nearest Nissan dealer (not the dealer who sold me the truck). The dealer put a man weighing about 50 lbs more than my wife in the seat, and the "airbag off" light stayed off. When I got home from the trip, I took the truck to my original dealer. Two representatives from the dealer went on a 10 minute drive with my wife in the front passenger seat. The light stayed on for the entire test drive, meaning that the airbag would not deploy in a frontal collision. This is documented on the invoice I received from the dealer. In 2016, NHTSA required a recall (16v244000) of 3. 53 million Nissan and infinity cars for exactly this problem. Nhtsa notes that "the front seat passenger occupant classification system may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. " for some reason, the Frontier model was not included in the recall. I have informed Nissan consumer affairs. They have not offered any help. This serious safety problem may cause unnecessary injury or death if an airbag does not properly deploy with a normal adult in the passenger seat. The Frontier should be included in the recall and the problem should be corrected.
Passenger air bag warning light continually flashes when driving vehicle indicating air bag will not deploy. Dealership adjusted seat belt tension which temporarily ( 2 weeks) fixed issue. Dealership now recommends a new passenger seat bottom cushion to remedy problem at owner expense. This is a safety issue and a recall issue. In regard to this problem, Nissan and/or sub~contractors providing seat cushions should be accountable for all service and parts and any accidents and/or injuries incurred when air bag is not deployed.

One day, all of the sudden, the flashing red airbag indicator light started flashing on the dash. I noticed there is major safety recall on my vehicle model and year for this exact problem, I've called the dealer where I bought this truck new, bill rapp Nissan, syracuse, NY and another local dealer , burdick Nissan, north syracuse, NY and they both indicated that my vehicle is not on their vehicle recall list. My understanding of this recall is that their is very serious safety concerns that, if in an accident, potentially my airbags would not deploy.

The passenger seat airbag sensor will not register a passenger in the seat properly and is causing the airbag disabled light to illuminate on the dashboard, indicating the airbag will not deploy in an accident. This is an ongoing issue. It has been documented twice with the dealer, and once with the manufacturer who is refusing to escalate the issue.
