Front Air Bag Problems of Nissan Frontier

I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier crew cab, long bed (6') and the air bags (both driver & passenger) did not deploy. The entire front end of the truck suffered damage. The damage is significant enough that the hood folded upwards. My daughter hit an impala without side impact air bags on the driver's side door hard enough to snap the imapala's front axle. This severe of an accident should have caused the air bags to deploy but, they didn't. I just saw this has occured with others and it appears to be a fairly common problem as I found multiple websites speaking about this failure to deploy.

The recall only applied to vehicles registered in cold states. The contact lives in tucson, az at 2,000 ft. Elevation. He owns a winter cabin at 9,000 ft. And stated that he would experience the same issues as someone who resides in a cold state. His VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 08v690000 (air bags:frontal). The failure and current mileages were 27,050.

Vehicle veered off the inter state highway, across the medium, and crashed into the mountain at 60 mph. Upon impact, none of the frontal air bags deployed. As a result, driver sustained neck and back injuries.

While driving 40 mph on wet pavement consumer lost control of vehicle and hit a brick wall. Air bags deployed and caught on fire, burning consumer. Also, cut consumer on arm,and from chin to center of neck. Airbags deployed so hard they knocked consumer's head out of window. Contacted dealer and had vehicle repaired.

No deployment of air bags when the vehicle was rear ended by a semi which caused the vehicle to flip over 3 or 4 times, driver sustained sore muscles and soft tissue damage to his back but no broked bones. Nlm.

When the brakes were applied the pedal went partially to the floor causing a minor collision which resulted in no deployment of airbags.

Vehicle was involved in an accident at an impact of 60 mph, and both air bags did not depoly. Dealer /manufacturer were not informed at this time.

Driving at approximately 20-25 mph, drove over slight dip when dual airbags deployed without hitting anything or without warning, causing injuries and burns.

Consumer heard noise whenever turning to the left, even after the dealer tried to repair by greasing steering parts and repairing air bag. Problem solved after dealer added a missing center support. Also, the seats were loose and had to be repaired, and the gas gauge is not working. Ak.

Airbag rattling inside steering column.

While driving at 50mph on freeway rear ended another vehicle that cut in front of truck, neither airbag deployed in accident, no injuries. Dealer contacted and is aware of incident. Will look at vehicle upon arrival.

While driving at 55 mph transfer case locked up, causing the rear end to lock up. Vehicle slid out of control, went off the road into a ditch, and hit a fence. Upon impact, neither air bag deployed. Dealer has been contacted.
