Electrical System Problems of Nissan Frontier - part 2

On 8/26/23, I came upon a red light and stopped. Vehicle immediately would not go into gear, all dash lights and check engine light were flashing, and fan motors were running loudly. Error message said automatic transmission error. The vehicle could not be turned off for approx. 10 minutes. Had to push the vehicle off of the roadway. I was able to restart the vehicle after 2 hours. On 8/28,23, the exact same thing happened and I was stuck in the lane of traffic. All dash lights and check engine light were flashing. Error message said automatic transmission error. Would not go into any gear. The vehicle could not be turned off for approx. 10 minutes. I had the vehicle pulled out of the roadway, then towed to dealership on 8/28/23. The dealership contacted me on 8/29/82 and stated they could not duplicate the error and there was nothing else they could do at that time. My concern is that this happens again in a more dangerous setting.

Started truck with remote start. Truck stopped normally after a set time. After entering truck and restarting, the check engine light was indicated. Message to take truck for service. Dealer kept the truck for diagnosis. 28 codes were indicated and reset. Battery showed a low charge and was charged to proper voltage. Truck was returned with a list of all codes that were addressed. I have low jack on my truck and on oct 08 2023 that I had low voltage of 11 indicated again. Will be visiting dealer for follow up.

The truck's computer control system suffered a catastrophic failure after intermittent warning for abs brakes and emissions. After this failure the truck was left stranded in the pouring thunderstorm - it wouldn't start, waring lights for just about everything and couldn't be towed as the electronic transmission was locked in park with no manual overrides. Had it occurred on a highway it could have caused serious dangers. After 2+ weeks the dealer hasn't been able to diagnose the problems, repair or return the truck. Complaints have been filed with Nissan consumer affairs.

Door locks don't work. Had it serviced twice to try fixing the problem and the locks still don't work. I have to crawl in and out of the windows several times a day as this is my work truck. This is a very dangerous safety hazard should I get trapped inside.

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission became inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle was hacked, and that the steering wheel was moving independently. The brakes were applied without the brake pedal being depressed. El veigulo aplica los frenos automaticamente mientras ES conducido normalmente y prende dodo el tablero DE luces DE emerjencia y notifica (falla en el sistema ver el manual del fabricante y falla en el sistema DE frenado). Se a llevado en dos ocasiones al diler y en los cuatro meses que la tengo solo lae podoto conducir por mas o menos un mes al momento DE esda querella solo me notifican que no dan con el problema segun el taller del diler.

I purchased the vehicle in may of 2022. Since that time, the vehicle has had all safety systems report as failed on at least 11 different occasions. The vehicle will report "system failure", abs failure, traction control failure, forward & rear collision sensor failures. It was reported to me by the dealership that when this happens, the abs and traction control do continue to work, however I have had my brakes lock up and send me sliding down the road as a result of these errors. The errors can occur in any weather or environmental conditions -- they are seemingly random. The dealership has had the vehicle since 5/22/2023 and has not been able to find anything wrong with the vehicle. This is their fifth time attempting to diagnose and correct this issue. It was first reported to the dealership around 1600 miles, and now the vehicle is sitting around 39,000 miles. I have been unable to replicate this issue intentionally. It happens at random.

Unknown. Had the truck to the dealer several times over the last year for sudden "system fault" warning along with check engine, collision avaoidance and braking disabled, tcs off, abs, and several other lights. I have been told the dealer could not find the problem, which is odd because Nissan connected services logs data from my truck and emails me when there is a fault, like abs system failure see dealer, I have had the truck to the dealer no less than 4 times when it was actually check and a few other they refused to even look at it. The last visit I had the warning lights all come on and I took it to another dealer and demanded they scan it with out shutting it off which would cause the system to reset and then they could find the fault again. This is frankly dangerous I have had the system fail in low traction / high wind areas where it was dangerous to be drving like that.

The touch screen radio turns off and on.

Driving up a mountain road to a ski resort, my abs, traction control, forward collision warning, and rear collision warning lights all turned on at the same time. My abs and traction control systems turned off, as evidenced by increased sliding around and no abs present when attempting to stop. I took the vehicle in for an oil change, recall repair, and asked the service managers to look at the safety systems. They informed me that they needed to "order parts" to rectify the issue and they did not have an estimated delivery date for the parts. A week later, I called the service department and was told they needed to order a "rear axle" and that it was backordered with no estimated delivery date. I have filed a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs.

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was purchased but the contact was offered no assistance. The contact continued driving the vehicle and stated that the vehicle was hesitating and jerking while depressing accelerator pedal. Occasionally, the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts. The contact stated that the vehicle had rolled back while stopped on an incline. The contact reached out to the dealer and was informed that the defect was related to the battery, which the contact disputed. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 22v671000 (power train) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer where the vehicle was purchased. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000. The VIN was not available.

As I was driving my truck this morning it stalled on me, two times. The first time I was able to turn the key off and back on again and it started right up. I then drove it about 20 yards (luckily I was in a parking lot) and it stalled again but this time the dash lights remained on even with key out of the ignition. Also I was not able to unlock the doors. I kept turning key back and forth until the truck finally started. I was going to try disconnecting the battery to see if that would help but with the truck running I unhooked the negative side and the truck kept running!!OH, and I also had the ignition switch replaced a few weeks ago under that recall. This is very unsafe to say the least and I can't believe it's not affecting other 2017 Frontiers.

This issue has occurred once and vehicle has 8k miles. I was sitting in stop and go rush hour traffic. While driving, all the lights on dash came on and it flashed 2 different messages about the system failure. I pulled off into a gas station parking lot and turned the truck off. I waiting approx 2 minutes and started the engine. The system ran thru all of the checks and the flashing system failure message was gone. It has not come back since. Not sure if it was a fluke thing or not.

The timing chain has gone out. Other crankshaft sensor went out while driving the vehicle at about 30mph.

When I got in my truck yesterday some of the dash warning lights were on and the digital mileage was showing up. This is all without a key in the ignition. I could start it but it cranked a bit. So I opened the hood to disconnect the battery and I could hear that the engine was priming, no telling how long this was going on since I haven't driven it in a couple of weeks. This happened about a month ago as well although that time the radio was playing with no key in the ignition.

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph the collision avoidance system suddenly activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop although no other vehicles or objects were nearby. Also while operating the vehicle the collision avoidance system warning message and display continued to erroneously appear on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who cleared the failure codes but was unable to determine the cause of the failures. Also the contact indicated that the door chimes would not always alarm when needed and the front driver side and passenger side door latches would malfunction and the doors could not be immediately opened from inside the cabin of the vehicle. In addition the battery had randomly lost power and the vehicle could not be restarted. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 1,000.

Occasionally the doors will not lock or u lock properly. On multiple occasions, when using they key fob to unlock the doors, you can hear them unlock, but the driver's side door will not. The other doors will be unlocked. I will sometimes have to lock/unlock multiple times or use they key to manually unlock. There have also been at least 2 occasions where the doors will be locked, but I was able to open a door, setting off the car alarm.

My new vehicle purchased from a Nissan dealer has presented me with the same error twice, the first time they solved it for me but then it continued to fail, however I am writing here because I received a report that vehicles of this model have problems, it seems to me an abuse that is excused in that there are no vehicles to charge a "market adjustment" technically this is an extortion if you want a vehicle there is no more payment, and now I receive a letter from Nissan where my vehicle may present faults and I present it from the beginning and they do not they saw nothing on the computer, so I pay almost $50,000 for a vehicle where they later tell me that it could cause an accident? I get nervous and I don't want to use it but I have to pay the installments or does it damage my credit? what does the departments in charge do in this case? do we put my life, my family and other people at risk to support these corporations? is there no insurance or bonds to support these damages? supposedly the only fault they found was a brake sensor that was stuck but after changing it it failed again and also when I'm stopped the vehicle doesn't completely gain stability I always use the emergency brake apart from the fact that I made the claim at a Nissan dealership and they told me that I should go to where I bought it (absurd and stupid answer), I sent an email to Nissan and they never responded (that is, they are participants and bad service after the sale, a complete scam, what they offer from guarantee at the national level) and they do not leave a record of the claims because everything is on their page.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 14v052000 (electrical system) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The mechanic informed the contact that the integrated computer module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was a voluntary service campaign for the air bag control unit (acu) associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 57,400.

The back-up camera beeps most all the time in reverse. You do not know if it's something is there are not. It has almost caused a wreak.

Vehicle is a new 2022 Nissan prox4. Purchase date 12/13/21. No issues until February 6 (3100miles). Car was serviced 2/4/22 for initial oil change and all systems were “green light” on routine diagnostic test at time of oil change per dealer. Now various (abs, engine light, various warning lights) appear while driving and when engine restarted they disappear, only to reappear again intermittently. I suspect an electronic problem or computer malfunction. This is a safety issue due to driver distraction. I have been told by others (facebook group) that they have had similar electronic issues with this 2022 Nissan pro 4 x vehicle that have not been resolved.

I bought my 2022 Nissan Frontier pro-x on 09/12/2021. Since day 1 it had something loose under the hood and was making cracking sounds. Had to bring it in and they tightened something and then had to do a full re-alignment. And before I even hit 1k miles my aerial / backup camera stop working and I’m now waiting on a whole new camera control assembly unit that is on back order and they claim could take months. Also my aeb sensor is not working and after doing research I see a lot of people have had issues with that too and the vehicles making unexpected aeb lock engagement in the middle of driving on the highway. In addition I’ve also had a 4th issue, the steering seems very off balance and vehicle sways too easily. I feel like this truck has had too many issues for being brand new and not only has been very inconvenient but I also feel it is a safety hazard at this point.

My husband and I bought a new truck. My husband pulled the truck into our garage, once in the garage the back tires started to spin out of control, he looked down and saw he had his foot on the brake only, but truck surged forward causing no injuries but have minor truck and property damage. Have a picture of where there is stationary tire marks on our epoxy garage floor showing the black tire marks of the tires spinning out of control just before the truck surged forward. After this incident we found articles about sudden unintended acceleration which we feel is what happened to my husband. The dealership we bought the vehicle from has been derogatory from the start of this incident. We have contacted several attorneys to only be turned down saying we don’t have a case because my husband wasn’t injured (thank god). We waived the manufacturer arbitration and found only one attorney who took us through pre-litigation but then discharged us after getting the denial letter from the manufacturer, telling us to get a second opinion. We're at a crossroads and don't know what to do at this point. Morally, would it be right to trade in what we feel is a dangerously defective new vehicle? for that is the crossroads we stand at, either pursuing a civil lawsuit or trading it in. The truck was inspected once by the manufacturer and once by the dealership where we bought it. We are currently asking the dealership’s garage to further check the electronic throttle-control and brake override system on this truck. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I bought the 2007 Nissan Frontier off a dealership as a used vehicle with no warranty. One week later the transmission started to slip, the following week the slippage was worse until it lost power and it left me stranded in a parking lot. I took it to my mechanic and he said that it's a possibility that the transmission computer had gone out and it would be close to $5,000 dollars to replace the transmission. The transmission fuse keeps blowing out once the truck is started. The mechanic said it could be a possibility that it was cross contamination since Nissan was known for faulty radiators. So I'm stuck with a truck payment through a loan with a transmission out and I can't even drive it. There are thousands and thousands of complaints online from people having the exact same issue.

Transmission and coolant fluid contamination due to faulty radiator!.

Vehicle blower turns off after going through car wash, or intermittently while driving. Can cause issues with fogging up windows and visibility when driving when happening on freeway. Unsure as to nature of why.

The electronic control module went out on my vehicle after only 60,000 miles. I tried every possible solution such as replacing sensors, replaced spark plugs, crank and shift sensors, etc until my local Nissan dealership ran a diagnostic and determined it to be the ecm. They found it strange to have the ecm go out so quickly. My truck was running fine but then it slowly started to give out when I would try to start it. I have a manual transmission.

Instrument cluster giving vehicle parasitic draw between TSB and combination meter! instrument cluster stays on when keys out of vehicle and dash indicators flicker due to faulty combination meter. A recall should be recognized and the proper procedures should be taking care of for the manufacture recall.

Tl the contact's wife owns a 2014 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that there was a burning odor in the vehicle and that the rear tail lights were not working. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic whom determined that the main wire harness was defective. The tail lights were replaced, but the failure still occurred because the harness was not replaced. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA as the VIN was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Front air bag sensor not operating. Air bag light flashes.

About a year ago my sunroof was acting like it didn't want to close, I haven't opened it since, then a few months after that, it kept blowing fuses by the glove box that controls the interior lights, cargo lights and trailer hitch, then last week, I thought my truck was going to burn to the ground when I was driving down my mothers driveway. Smoke came in between the windshield and dash and filled the cab up very quickly. I put the truck in park, turned it off and ran away from the vehicle thinking it was going to blow up. I rolled all the windows down to let the smoke out. After 10 minutes, checking under the hood, under the vehicle, I did not see any flames. When I got back in the truck to drive it home, the windows would not roll up and the interior lights would not work and the airbag light is flashing on and off and won't stop and it smelled horrible of something electrical.

Erratic gas gauge and check engine light. Same issue has recall on 2006 and above Nissan Frontiers. Has to be same issue with sending unit used in 2005. TSB is open to include 2005 vehicles.

Passenger airbag warning light illuminated. In motion from a parking lot. Fuel gauge suddenly fell to empty on 07/10/2019 lights on dash illuminated showing need for upcoming service and tire pressure low.
