Just finished reading through 23 pages of complaints going back to 2008 regarding failure of the fuel level sender unit--primarily on 2007 Nissan Frontiers. Mine failed at approximately 69,000 miles in February 2020, with the same symptoms that numerous other owners experienced: upon filling the tank, the gauge would drop to zero, the low fuel light would illuminate as would the check engine light--my code reader displayed a 463 code, fuel level sensor failure. The gauge would gradually go to full, and operate normally until it read just under half full, when it would again drop to zero. While the failure fell within the 72000 mile extended warranty, the year didn't, so Nissan refused to make the repairs. I have to join the chorus of 2007 Frontier owners wondering why identical 2006 and 2008 models--with exactly the same sender--were subject to a safety recall, but not the 2007s. It's an obvious safety issue, or the fuel gauge sender's performance wouldn't be included as an error code in the obd ii system. How about working the problem, ntsha? it's not too late!.

Purchased vehicle used, with 28,000 miles. Gas spurts out of filler neck 90% of the time when using automatic nozzle as tank nears 3/4 full; must finish filling at very slow rate manually. 10% of the time gas spurts out filler neck as soon as filling begins, unless a one minute wait is observed between stopping and beginning to fill tank.

I bought my 2018 Frontier with 40k miles on it back in April 2018. I now have about 56k miles on it. Over the last couple of months it got harder and harder to put gas in it and for a month now it shuts off multiple times and or spits gas out when I try to fill it. Yes, while filling the tank the gas pump will shut off and gas will spit out of the filler tube and spill onto the ground! took it to my local dealer and assumed it would be fixed under warranty not knowing anything about this common issue. Dealer looked at it and told me $1,600 and suggested replacing filler tube assembly, canister filler, canister assembly, control valve assembly and evap control system pressure sensor. The paperwork says please check and advise found dtc for vent valve p0448 service bulletin ntb15-079. they said my vehicle was over the 35k general warranty mileage. I did one minute of research on the web and found a TSB and Nissan website for the warranty enhancement (15yrs/150k). I called the dealer back and said why didn't you tell me about the TSB, the Nissan website and that this was a common problem for 15 years with multiple models of Nissan vehicles? not much of a response except you can call Nissan. I called Nissan and was assigned a case manager. They explained that the warranty enhancement was VIN specific and did not apply to my vehicle. He said he would review the case and get back to me in 4 days! he called back and said they had decided not to help me at all with the repair. So, here I am with a 2018 vehicle and Nissan wants me to spend $1600 to fix this issue they have had for 15 years. The same issue they are covering for thousands of other cars up to 15 years old with the warranty enhancement. . Read more...

When fueling truck, gasoline comes up fuel tank bottleneck. It's a known issue with this truck different years same problem. Very dangerous gas explodes out of the tank gets all over truck , myself , ground. Happens on every fill up. Air cannot vent when filling tank causes gas to rise overfill spraying gas everywhere.
When attempting to fill the tank with gasoline at several different gas stations, the liquid can not be properly dispensed into the tank because of a blockage. The liquid immediately spews out of the gas tank and onto the person filling the vehicle.
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle used in late December 2014. I was receiving a p0463 code the gas gauge randomly started dropping to below empty and the light would go on just after filling up the tank (full). The gauge stays at empty with the light on all the time until it reaches around 1/4 tank or less and will go down sometimes until empty again. However it has run out of gas on me multiple times in intersections when it says I have 1/4 or 1/8th tank which leads to a major safety concern. I am forced to use the trip meter all the time while driving my vehicle. This is directly related to the fuel sending unit issue that has affected all other 2006 Frontiers (and other years as well). Although Nissan only replaced 'some' it is the same part and issue that has affected all Frontiers that have had this issue. Why mine is not covered I am not sure but it has put my vehicle and any occupants in it in danger and is a costly repair due to a manufacturer defect. An auto repair store said the whole fuel pump unit needs to be replaced but the vehicle is my daily driver so I have had to drive it in this condition for a year now never knowing if it will run out on me while driving at speed.

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the gauge was fuel gauge reader dropped and the fuel warning light illuminated, despite the customer just filling up his gas tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The diagnosis was that the fuel sending unit had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. Cs.
My Nissan Frontier truck's "check engine soon" light appeared. The warning was dtc p0463 (fuel level sensor circuit high input) . It corresponds with Nissan's technical bulletin el07-027b, reference ntb07-069b. After filling the tank, the fuel guage took approximately 20 minutes to register full. Now my fuel gauge does not work at all- it simply displays zero fuel present in the tank. I've already ran out of fuel once this week, on the highway. This problem is caused by the deterioration of the unit based on use and not time.

In February of 2013 my 2007 Nissan Frontier began to display a tire pressure warning light on the instrument panel. Regardless of the tire pressure in each tire, the light remained on. It flashed with engine start up before being steadily illuminated. Also, in late March 2013 the fuel gauge began to indicate a problem. Upon filling up the vehicle's fuel tank the gauge's needle would fall to e (empty), the low fuel indicator light would illuminate, and the needle would remain on e until driving approximately 20-25 miles. When the needle reached f (full) the service engine soon (ses) light would come on and remain on until the vehicle was driven enough to burn approximately half the tank of fuel. After researching the issue online it is apparently quite common with Nissan Frontiers, xterras, and pathfinders in this range of production years (e. G. 2007). On June 11, 2013 I finally took the Frontier to a Nissan dealership. An evaluation was made, and the service staff identified the trouble as being a tire pressure sensor and fuel sending unit for the respective causes of trouble. My online research corroborates this. I recieved an estimate of approximately $793 for repair of the two components. Nissan needs to continue to provide warranty/free repair or replacement for these components as they continue to be faulty based on copious internet research. Both of these faults present a hazard to drivers and occupants as the display center, which a driver may rely on for vehicle information, will not function properly when needed so that a driver is not certain what level of fuel is available in the tank, and if/when a tire is low or flat. This may result in the driver being stranded without availability of assistance as well as a vehicle accident.
Gas gauge quit working, making possibility of being stranded on the road. After filling the tank, the gas gauge shows same as before, then after a while, the gas gauge shows empty with the fuel light on, then after a while it shows some gas in the tank (maybe a little over half), then a while later it goes up to almost full. This is a common problem with this model, Nissan needs a recall to fix this!.
After filling up the gas tank, the fuel gauge registered as empty and the check engine light came on. After several trips, the gauge finally hit the top, but the light is still on.
After filling gas tank it drops to empty and service engine light comes on. After driving some distance (not many miles) it goes back up and then seems to work until next fill up. It is a constant problem and I never know how much gas I have other than tracking mileage. Recall many others with same problem.
After filling up and entire tank of gas, my needle dropped to empty, and my odometer read -------, not reading anything at all. Every fill up after, it is the same thing. I looked online and read that there is an epidemic with Nissan and my vehicle with this situation, however, after going to the dealership and asking if there was a recall, I was told 'no' and I would have to pay out of pocket, for a common problem, with the Nissan Frontier/pathfinder, from the manufacturer.
Back in November, 2009, I stopped to fill up my 2006 Nissan 4x4 Frontier extended cab pickup truck with gas. After filling tank, started the engine and put truck in gear to pull out of gas station and the gas gauge e (empty) light came on and check engine light came on and stays on till this day. I took it to a dealer to find out problem why gas gage quit working on my 51,000 mile truck at the time and they wanted to charge me $600. 00 to replace the fuel level sending unit which is inside the fuel tank. Of course I haven't had the money to get it fixed. I never know how much gas I have because the gage is not working. I ran out of gas 1 time, luckily while I was strolling in to a gas station. I have since found out Nissan will be implementing a recall on certain models year 2006 & 2008 Frontier pickups, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. The problem that the recall states was the molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. This could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash, which came close to happening to me two days ago. I called Nissan regarding a recall notice I found out on the internet, recalling these vehicles manufactured from 01/23/2006 to 3/16/2006. Mine was manufactured 06/2006 and I was told my VIN number did not show up on their recall database list. My complaint, my truck has the same defective part, I'm driving under dangerous conditions, I need Nissan to stand behind their products and replace this part with no charge to me, the consumer. I'm taking a chance every time I drive this truck in the gas running out, and my vehicle stalling on the major interstate causing crash, injury, possibly death. I want my vehicle repaired now, not have to wait until my VIN no. Shows up on a recall list.
