Ok rattling around the front of the motor . Then it just stopped then milky substance starts running out. I reported it to north America Nissan and they told me to take my truck to the nearest Nissan dealer and they would take care of the problem. The timing chain tensioner guide was on a service bulletin (ntbo9- 128).

The timing chain tensioner guide failed, causing the timing chain to rub a hole into the block. The local dealership, ceranti oakes Nissan, is aware of the problem, as well as the timing tensioner recall submitted by the manufacturer, and initially suggested that I haul the truck to the dealership, at my own expense, for repairs. After having the truck abour a week, the dealership finally returned calls claiming that they can not make repairs under the manufacturers recall bc it's not covered under the recall. I have made numerous phone calls resulting in no assistance from customer service to resolve the issue. This problems has been a great inconvenience and caused our family issues getting back and forth to work, which inevitably has cost my family a great deal in lose of the only source of income.
The engine makes a whining noise that increases in frequency with engine rpm. The truck has 69,000 miles on it but the noise has been apparent for some time. I took the truck to the dealer and was informed that the secondary timing chain tensioners were worn out and needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,800.

Whining noise coming from timing chain or timing chain tensioner when engine running (both during idle or running on highway). The video below is the exact sound coming from my engine. . Read more...
Timing chain guides and tensioners need to be replaced. Also the timing chains [3]. If these fail on the highway, a severe accident could result. Nissan has published bulletins on this problem but has not notified owners about it. There are evidently class action suits filed against them. These part are defective in design and quality and pose a potentially hazardous situation.
Timing chain guides, tensioners, guides, shoes and seals, witch made nose the hole time I had the truck and the dealer never said anything tell after my warranty expired.
Gas gauge quit working goes between half and quarter tank and stops, letting you run out of gas. Next item is timing chain howl on cold starts for over a year now then I read bulletin that chain tensioners are wearing and causing timing chain failures and Nissan has never notified owners I was just in to dealer about gas gauge problem about 2 weeks ago and no one mentioned timing chain problem.
A whining or buzzing type noise has develop from the timing chain area caused by excess slack in the secondary timing chains. Nissan has issued a service bulletin (ntb09-128) regarding this issue. Replacement of both secondary timing chains and their tensioner shoes will be necessary to repair this concern. My 2008 Frontier has 89k miles on it (out of Nissan's 60k warranty) and has been whining for sometime now. Nissan knows of this problem per the previously mentioned tsp. It is my worry that if the chain breaks or fails while driving it the motor will instantly stop/fail and possibly lock up therefore putting myself and family and or others at great risk for injury.
Engine whine started before warrenty expired but thought it was a power steering pump or pulley bearing. Progressively got worse, so looked it up on youtube & engine whine videos are widespread - turns out this is a timing chain issue that Nissan knows about, but declined to tell me before the warranty ran out. They have done all the maintenance so they surely heard this engine whine. They even have a bulletin out for the repair of this "defect". The timing chain tensioner shoe is too soft & is wearing out prematurely. This job will cost approximately $1200 & I am currently having the repairs made. I was in talks with Nissan factory reps, & she will not help me any with these repairs, even though it was doing this before the warranty expired, I just didn't know what this noise was. There should be a factory defect recall so all the owners like me could get reimbursed, & so the people nearing warranty expiration could be forewarned to get the repairs done. This is the q40 v-6 engine.
Secondary timing chain tensioner shoes wore completely down to metal.
