Vehicle makes clunking, jerking noises and bad clunking sounds when you put it into gear or shift gears, digital gear display shows vehicle is in 5th gear all the time, accelerates very slowly.
I bought a Nissan Maxima 2005 from a second hand and looks great but one riding the transmission started to make a uful noise. Once I got home I turned of the engine. The next day when I start the engine and shifted to drive the wouldn't move. The mechanic told me that I have to buy a new transmission that it's to expensive. I hope you could help me. Thank you.
Transmission slips shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Engine rpms rev to approx. 5000-6000. When the car finally shits, there is a loud clunking noise that comes in the rear end of the car.
The contact owns 2005 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the transmission would make an abnormal noise when shifting into gear. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
Transmission clunks when shifting, engine timing chain guides worn out making loud noises at idle.
Serious transmission issue. It makes a loud noise when it shifts from 2nd and 3rd gear, sometimes it only goes high on rpm without giving any traction to the wheels. Also the transmission kicks when I put in reverse after a while of being driving the car. I have already changed the 3 motor mounts because they were broken but I never I thought it would be due to transmission problems. I live in mexico and apparently it's very common also in Maximas in mexico.
Traveling at 30 mph, vehicle began to upshift. Also, made clunking noise when shifting to reverse, then to drive.
Experiencing severe transmission problems. The car has a 5 second or more delay in shifting into drive and once it does shift there is a violent jerk and clunking noise. When driving the rpm gauge goes up and down randomly. Gears slip from 1st to 2nd at any given moment. I know my car has 100k miles but it has been superbly kept since manufactured so this is baffling to me. I have spent hundreds of dollars on transmission flushes and tune ups hoping to alleviate the problem to no avail. I don't see myself spending thousands of dollars to replace a transmission that obviously was predestined for failure! I love foreign cars Nissan especially this is my second but at this point I am seriously considering Toyota and never buying or recommending a Nissan ever again!.
While going from park to drive the transmission jerks hard, makes a loud bump noise, while down shifting the transmission makes a loud thump sound.
Vehicle started showing signs of transmission trouble with less than 68,000 miles driven. Initially, random revving/lagging was less noticeable and jerking was minimal. The problem progressively got more frequent and shifting became harsher and jerking would result in a hard clunking noise. Vehicle was brought to dealership service department for a diagnosis. Recommendation was for replacement of the transmission, motor mounts and timing chain service to remedy a whining noise from the engine. Extended warranty coverage was for 6years/75,000 miles so time constraint had expired although mileage was well under. Thus, dealer would not cover under warranty so I contacted Nissan corporate for assistance. They were also unwilling to cover replacement of transmission even with this being such a widespread issue with this particular vehicle/model year 04-06.
I bought a used Nissan Maxima for 8,000 since the day I bought it, the car has a hard time shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear and so on it makes a loud clunk noise and is staring to damage the mounts. I have read similar complaints to mine online and need to learn how to get it recalled or fixed.

2005 Nissan Maxima transmission problems. It seems to be a serious and common problem with this car! my Maxima is jerking between 1st 2nd and 3rd gears, rpms reaching 4 during shifting, hard jerks in down shifting as well. A 5 sec pause when putting the car into reverse or drive! a grinding noise when shifting. This occurs on a daily bases! very unhappy with Nissan, they refuse to pay for a new transmission. Nissan needs to take responsiblity for this faulty transmission. I will never buy another Nissan and I make sure that I tell everyone to buy Toyota or Honda!.

I purchased a 2005 Nissan Maxima brand new in January 2005. I had never driven the vehicle other than local to work. At 66000 miles my transmission began hard shifting. I contacted Nissan corporate office to authorize an out of warranty repair and they refused. It cost me 3200. 00 to replace the transmission. Now I am having strange noises coming from the front end. I believe it is the suspension. This car has not lived up to my expectations and I hope someone will take into account the many complaints regarding this make and model car and make the consumers back whole. I will never purchase another Nissan product simply because the products are poorly manufactured and Nissan does not stand behind its product.
My 2005 Nissan Maxima has 63000 miles and has started showing signs of what may be serious transmission problems. Random symptoms that include: * very hard jerky shifts between 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st and accompanied by loud clunking noise.
Car has been indicating a problem for two years started off with a few. Drops of trani fluid on driveway. . To burning smell, noise while in reverse, clacking noises. . Replaced mounts burnt oil. . Now hard shifting from park to reverse to drive. Car hesitates before shifting car has 59000 miles had 31000 when problems started car has been in service at a Nissan certified dealer they fix everything except the problem.
2005 Maxima transmission problems. I own a 2005 Maxima I purchased new from the dealer. In oct of 2009 I took to Nissan dealer due to a strange noise that would occur during acceleration. Upon inspection the dealer found the bottom motor mounts broken and replace (under extended warranty) now I am experiencing transmission problems - hard shifts from 1st-2nd and 2nd-1st. There is no indicator light on that says there is a problem. Took to a Nissan dealer and they could not find anything - yet the problem exists and is getting worse. I am now out of my extended warranty and have read countless blogs that relate to the same issues I am experiencing and yet Nissan fails to respond to the consumer. The motor mount issue seems to be directly related to the transmission issue, but Nissan simply charges you a $125. Inspection fee and sends you down the road telling you your car is fine, when it isn't. What does it take to demand a recall??? I am just getting back on my feet after losing my job, losing my house and now having to deal with a car that will break down any day - leaving me to wonder how the hell I will get to work. I say class action law suit - against Nissan and our government who should be regulated vehicles and the complaints that are filed against them.

Nissan has a huge transmission problem. It seems to be a serious and common problem with 2005 Nissan Maxima cars! my Maxima was jerking between 1st 2nd and 3rd gears, rpms reaching 4 during shifting, hard jerks in down shifting; a 5 sec pause when putting the car into reverse or drive, I also heared grinding noise when shifting. This occured on a daily bases. I had to pay $3,500 for a rebuilt trans. Nissan headquaters refuse to; look at my car. . . At that time I only had 95,000 miles…Nissan said my warranty expired. €¦ Nissan told me…I wasn’t a true customer because… I wasn’t getting my oil changed by them on a regular basis. (I paid my car off in full in 2005…how devoted is that?) Nissan needs to take responsiblity for this faulty transmission. I will never ever… buy another Nissan again. On top of all that my abs system is completely gone…it’s too much to repair.
