1 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2015

Got the car a year ago from carmax. Had the car for less than 30 days before the transmission gave out. The mileage was right around 52,000 miles. They took it back, fixed it and it was fine. Now here I am again less than a year later I'm having the same exact issue. Jerking really hard in between gears, rpm would red line before it would finally switch gears. Now this time the transmission completely gave out on me in the middle of a busy intersection! when I stepped on the gas, the car made a noise as if the power was failing, and sure enough it did. The car cut off on me. Contacted carmax again to see if I had an extended warranty. But this will be the second time I've got the car fixed for the same issue. Now I have around 80,000 miles on this car.

2 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

A couple of months ago, my 2005 Nissan Maxima began having transmission problems. When beginning to drive, the vehicle will jerk when it reaches 2 and 3 rpms and rev the engine. Before it resumes "normal" drive, it will jerk again and make a loud clunking noise. This also happens when attempting to put the car into reverse. I was told today by the local Nissan dealership that the transmission must be replaced costing approximately $3300. 00! the dealership never informed me of these issues, even after a transmission flush and a courtesy check when I first brought the car to them several weeks ago. I am shocked and disturbed after reading how many other Nissan Maxima owners are having the exact same problem I am having. How many complaints must there be for a resolution if each person is having the same problem?!.

3 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2011

Over the past year since Feb 2010, I have been having transmission problems with my 2005 Nissan Maxima. The car gives a hard jerks when going from 1st to 2nd gear. Yesterday while driving my Maxima on the highway, luckily I was driving at 20-30 km/hr, it completely stopped and would not accelerate. For a few seconds, made this horribel noise and then kicked back into gear like nothing had happenen. This continued to happen 3 times in a span of 10 min. I drove to a mister transmission where I was told I needed a new transmission for $3000-$3,500. Thank goodness I was not hit and killed. Nissan is fully aware of the 2005 Maxima transmission problem that thousands of consumers are experiencing but yet they are doing anything to correct the problem. I am filing a complaint against Nissan because they were fully aware about the transmission defect. This is a very dangerous situation-someone will be killed.

4 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2010

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Maxima. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact heard a banging noise coming from the transmission. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics, where the mechanic replaced the transmission motor mount. The failure continued after the repair was performed. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

5 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

2005 Nissan maima, 60k miles. I am now having automatic transmission problems that I have found are rather common for this car. I will be taking to a Nissan dealer for inspection, but my concern is the fact that Nissan is not identifying this as a habitual problem - which should warrant a recall. I have owned the car since showroom and have maintained the car according to Nissan requirements. Had to have the motor mounts replaced in 09 after I noticed unual noise coming from the car when I would accerlate from a stop. Inspection discovered that the motor mounts needed to be replaced. I believe this may be a direct cause to my transmission issue now and according to several forum complaints many other individuals have had the same exact issue that I am experiencing now. Once my inspection with Nissan that will be done on 8/30/10 and their diagnosis I will update my complaint.

6 Transmission Noise problem

The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 89,000.
