1 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2017

My transmission started violently jerking from park to reverse and drive, had several repairs done to no avail. Car is stuck in third gear, which is dangerous because when I start to pull out onto the highway I have no power, the car just revs high rpms and goes really slow until I reach 40 mph. Its just a matter of time before I get hit, I always have to wait to make sure no car is coming in my direction. I have had the solenoids, valve body among other work done that hasn't helped at all at a cost of over $1500. 00 there are apparently thousands of complaints of the same issues all over the internet. Why is this not being recalled! its pure and simple theft. To buy a CA r that has a known defect and the company not caring to remedy the issue.

2 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2015

My 2006 Maxima has 89000 miles on it and started jerking when shifting gears, it began out of the blue. I was at at a stop light and had to back up for a fire truck and then drive forward and then my car jerked and shook the whole car. It had never done that before. I thought the engine was going to fall out. I drove home as slow as I could and my dad met me there. He got in the car and we tested it. Every time you reverse and go into drive it would stall and cough and make so that the engine felt like it was going to fall out of the car. We took it to the mechanic who at first thought it was the transmission fluid being low, so we filled it up. Then after about a week it started again with the jerking after taking it from reverse into drive. We took it to the transmission guy who said it could be the solenoid? so that would be about $300-500. In the end to rebuild the entire transmission on a Maxima with only 89,000 miles it costs $3500-4500 to fix which was absolutely ridiculous!!! Nissan needs to fix their product and stand behind it. Recall the problem and have it fixed before something bad happens.

3 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2013

Have taken the vehicle to the local Nissan dealership several times to have issues diagnosed and they would state there is nothing wrong. First started with having low and dirty oil and making a weird noise even after it has been serviced. Took the vehicle to a different place that the Nissan dealership said we should go. Their oil solution of royal purple synthetic oil did not work. Talked to the place where the vehicle was bought and because the warranty was expired they were unwilling to help. The vehicle currently has almost 108000 miles on it and have only owned it a year. I am afraid to drive the vehicle because of the hard shifting when driving and the slamming of the head against the head rest. It will slam into second, third and even fourth gear once it gets warmed up and take several seconds for the vehicle to engage and adjust the speed. I experience jerking coming from the rear while driving and recently while going from speed limits of 45 to 30 I felt a lose of power like it did not want to go. While parked it also slams into reverse and the first. I have a young son and this vehicle is defiantly not safe for him to drive in. I was told to replace the solenoids, timing chains, and to put a kit in it for the shifting issues. I also need to get an alignment done to address the shaking when going over 55mph. At this point the motor mounts probably need to be replaced. I'm still making payments on this vehicle and all warranties are expired. The air bags are also malfunctioning and the lights blink on and off this will cost up to a $1000 to have fixed. The check engine light also comes off and on but no codes show up. The rpm gauge gets stuck at 3 and you have to go over 40mph to get that gauge to work. Really don't want to have an accident because of the issues with the drive train and transmission.

4 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2012

In October 2012 it initially started when I was shifting into drive and the car jerking forward. Then about a month later at a stop light it jerked forward when I accelerated as the light turned green. The acceleration was sluggish (like going from 1st to 2nd gear in a standard) you could feel the change in gear. Once the gear changed occurred and the speed was constant it seem to catch and go into drive as normal but this time the check engine light came on. The jerk forward was very noticeable and very scary. As a result I brought it to an auto mechanic, they ran diagnostics and a code came up of po750. This code relates to the solenoid pack which is in the valve body and a part of the transmission. The mechanic did a lot of research and finally went to the Nissan dealer to find out how they solved the problem and their answer to him was to replace the transmission not the solenoid pack. The dealership was familiar with this "defect" because they had replaced quite a few transmissions as a result of this problem. I then went on to a website, aboutautomobile. Com, and found numerous complaints related to this problem for the 2006 Maxima. This is unacceptable and really should be looked at. The median mileage that this defect occurs is around 77k. This problem poses a dangerous situation when driving, a high cost repair (3500 dollars) to replace the transmission which is what the Nissan dealerships recommend and not a good feeling about a car that's not really that old. Please let me know what can be done about this issue or where I can go to get help. Of course the extended warranty ended in March 2012. Which makes it a lot harder to deal with. 5 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2012

This vehicle has been maintained well over the years. It is absolutely incredible on how many people share the same problems that I have and that Nissan has not done nothing about it. My car started shifting really hard from 2nd to 3rd gear, it also gets stuck on 5th gear once the transmission is heated up. I know that it is the transmission that is defective or else there would not be so many videos on the internet about how to repair the solenoids that are inside the valve body. The car is in horrible driving condition and I even drive around with my hazards on because of the violent downshifts shake up the car and myself.

6 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2011

I would like to add to the growing number of concerned consumers that are experiencing the same problem that I'm having with my 2006 Nissan Maxima sl transmission. I purchased this vehicle in August 09. I currently have 64,000 miles and had the vehicle less than 2yrs. And now the transmission has gone up. Also to make matters worst my extented warrenty expired at 57,000 miles and the experation date is August 2012. Carmax or the warrenty company will not honor the policy, stating that the milage came first. However; my experience with transmission problems started over the memorial day weekend 2011. As my family & I was driving back from south carolina my air condition went out after a very loud thrusting motion accompanied by a hard jerk. After returning home the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop who diagnosed the symptoms and not the root cause of the problem. (code #p0780) indicated that there were several things that would cause this problem. The first is gear section - shift malfunction and the second being wiring tr sensor, shift solenoids and last but not lease transmission mechanical fault. The manufacturer was contacted but have not yet responsed.
