The vehicle has had multiple incidents with the abs system. From what I have read, this is a known issue with a service record and a repair of over $2000 yet Nissan refuses to cover the repair or recall the vehicle. The first incident in my vehicle occurred in October 2011. It has since had the same issue three times. The car pulls when braking, makes a loud noise and is difficult to drive and brake.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph he engaged the brakes and they made a very loud noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the left rear hub assembly and abs module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and two years later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who performed a diagnostic test which indicated that the abs motor module, the hub assembly and actuator were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 62,600. Updated 5/2/11 updated 05/11/11.
The events leading up to the failure was squealing brakes, shaking steering wheels, loud noises on the brake, and rough ride when brakes are press slightly. Car does not brake properly when pressed lightly under dry weather and tends to lock temporarily and let go during wet weather which can really lead to an accident. Nissan consumer affairs was called about the problem I was informed to take my car to the dealership, which I did, dealership tells me I'm out of warranty, I called Nissan consumer affairs back because this is a manufacturer defect and not something caused by me but Nissan will not admit to it.
Consumer complained about an abs brake system problem. When applying the brake a loud noise was heard. When turning, a clanking loud noise was also heard. Consumer took the vehicle to the deals on 4 separate occasions, however, the problem recurred.
