36 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/16/2009

2005 Maxima transmission problems. I own a 2005 Maxima I purchased new from the dealer. In oct of 2009 I took to Nissan dealer due to a strange noise that would occur during acceleration. Upon inspection the dealer found the bottom motor mounts broken and replace (under extended warranty) now I am experiencing transmission problems - hard shifts from 1st-2nd and 2nd-1st. There is no indicator light on that says there is a problem. Took to a Nissan dealer and they could not find anything - yet the problem exists and is getting worse. I am now out of my extended warranty and have read countless blogs that relate to the same issues I am experiencing and yet Nissan fails to respond to the consumer. The motor mount issue seems to be directly related to the transmission issue, but Nissan simply charges you a $125. Inspection fee and sends you down the road telling you your car is fine, when it isn't. What does it take to demand a recall??? I am just getting back on my feet after losing my job, losing my house and now having to deal with a car that will break down any day - leaving me to wonder how the hell I will get to work. I say class action law suit - against Nissan and our government who should be regulated vehicles and the complaints that are filed against them.

39 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/01/2009

Nissan has a huge transmission problem. It seems to be a serious and common problem with 2005 Nissan Maxima cars! my Maxima was jerking between 1st 2nd and 3rd gears, rpms reaching 4 during shifting, hard jerks in down shifting; a 5 sec pause when putting the car into reverse or drive, I also heared grinding noise when shifting. This occured on a daily bases. I had to pay $3,500 for a rebuilt trans. Nissan headquaters refuse to; look at my car. . . At that time I only had 95,000 miles…Nissan said my warranty expired. €¦ Nissan told me…I wasn’t a true customer because… I wasn’t getting my oil changed by them on a regular basis. (I paid my car off in full in 2005…how devoted is that?) Nissan needs to take responsiblity for this faulty transmission. I will never ever… buy another Nissan again. On top of all that my abs system is completely gone…it’s too much to repair.

41 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/28/2008

2004 Nissan Maxima, 6 speed manual transmission 4-door sedan. At 73,000 miles, a grinding noise began when shifting into second gear. Also, shortly thereafter, the transmission began to 'seize' where you could not shift at all; this all culminated while on a trip to the bicycle shop with my 3 kids, getting stranded (luckily made it to a parking lot) where the transmission would not even come out of gear. Took the car to a local dealership, and after $1300 in repairs (new clutch) the 'seizing' problem is back 2 months later, and the grinding was never fixed; they told me that would be an extra $1300. . . Looks like many sentras are having similar synchronizer issues as my Maxima - as well as other Maximas. Why can't we hold Nissan accountable for their product deficiencies? please help - thanks!!.

45 Noises During Shifting problem of the 1997 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 05/09/2002

Clicking noise from my 1997 Nissan Maxima 5 - speed odometer. Shifting problems, no cruise control and no mph reading or odometer reading after clicking stopped. Shifting completely failed after about a month. Mechanic that fixed the problem said that the odometer box located near the gears fell apart and the pieces of the odometer components fell into my gears damaging them and ultimately preventing the use of my vehicle. Mechanic also told me it was nothing I had done to contribute to this failure.
