The headlights are dim. I have replaced them with brighter h11 bulbs but I still cannot see. Others who have driven my car have indicated that the headlights are noticeably dimmer than normal. I literally cannot see the roadway. Also, I started having problems with the cvt shortly before 60,000miles. The problem was diagnosed as rudder codes. I was not financially able to replace the cvt at the time although I did ultimately replace it. The headliner inside the car has been falling down for years and I keep re gluing it around the rear view window. The panoramic sunroof has a seal that is melting away on the two side panels at the rear of the car. I keep trying to seal them, but they keep getting sticky and melting towards total deterioration.

I’ve been getting pulled over by the state trooper because of my headlights they’re stating they aren’t bright enough. The bulb was changed and still same problem. My Nissan was slow to accelerate while driving, then looses power, turns off.

Driving the car stop and a light. Light turns green and the car inches through the intersection. Pedal is to the floor and nothing happens. Eventually power starts to build up and I can go,but once I get to a light it repeats itself and not power after brake is released.
Transmission failed on my vehicle at 40,000 miles while I was in the middle of traffic. My car stopped accelerating without warning and I nearly got into an accident.

October 25, 2021 at 4:30 pm. After waiting for the light to turn green, I enter the clear lake park making a left a right and left turn into the park. While turning left that’s when I notice a decreased in power, and an exclamation symbo, but the car kept advancing very smooth!! but when I tried to park the vehicle it started shaking, vibrating with a roaring sound, it felt like even the tires ware going to get off the rims!! making a lot of noice!! I had difficulty steering and parking between two spaces hit the concrete barrier twice or tree times, at that time the steering wheel was to hard to control. I turn the car off on parked I was puzzled, for what happened. After five or ten minutes I start the car again place it on reverse then on drive the car was moving very, very, slow with the gas paddle to the floor. Advance to the other side by the community center, as I turn left to park, the car started shaking again the steering wheel was very, very hard to control turning left but the force of the tires ware moving right. I was holding on to the steering wheel trying to park again at this time the car completely die on me. By then it was almost 5:00 pm. I called my insurance to request roadside assistance, and a wrecker service that didn’t arrived. After one hour and half a driver came to help to start the battery, he attempted to start the battery twice. This happened after one of my sons had tried two times too. Finally the car starts again, after dealing with it for 4 hours. Drove it for a quarter of a block and died again. The wrecker service came the next day to drive the car to clear lake Nissan, they kept the car for two days and supposedly didn’t find anything wrong with it. If this problem had happened on nassau, road probably I would had been killed. Today the 29th of October, after doing some errands and returning home a symbol of a transmission came on the dashboard while the car was loosing power it hardly made it up to my driveway.
The vehicle does not accelerate and it jerks, whines and cuts off. The repair shop mechanic said he would not touch it without new transmission. The engine light is on, sometimes it blinks but not 100% of the time. It also won't get any power and cuts off on incline.
This cvt control variable transmission in these cars go out so fast. The cvt transmission went out at around 115,000. We replace it because we pressed the gas and no acceleration when stop light turned green. Then missed the light then it accelerated late and almost got hit by on coming car. We just replaced this cvt transmission in July 30, 2020 at around about price of $5000. The only place that it can be replaced is through the Nissan dealership. They only guarantee their work for 1 years time. It is starting to malfunction in just over 14 months time. This is only after a little over a year worth of driving. This is ridiculous the amount of money people pay for them on to get $5000 worth of quality equipment. This is a safety hazard driving through dallas traffic and no shoulder to pull over on because of construction. I have seen on the internet so many complaints about these cvt transmissions. This is the second time transmission problems already replace cvt at 115, 000 miles. Now needs another replacement at 139, 000?.

My 2016 Maxima sl has a faulty cvt transmission. It shakes, stutters and has no power on acceleration. It is a safety concern because I could easily pull out into traffic and my car will not accelerate. The problem has been confirmed by a Nissan dealership. It has been inspected. There are no warning lights or any dashboard indications that something is faulty.
2016 Nissan Maxima sr, problem started at 22000 miles, car runs fine, then when hitting a bump or railroad tracks, and sometime while accelerating at a light or from a stop the car goes into limp mode, max speed is apx 6 mph just enough to get it off road, at times it stalls in the intersection or when you come to a stop. Traction control light and engine light come on until you shut car down and restart. Engine light remains on solid but can be driven in most cases, at times it turns over then stalls, if you wait long enough it usually resets snd is drivable. Has several dtc codes when checked on of them is p1735 and a few others. It’s dangerous because you lose the ability to get properly through an intersection or to get by traffic on highway or side street, I have put my emergency lights on several times when this has happened. After reviewing TSB’s technical service bullatans it seems I am not alone with this issue.
Four times while I was driving the accelerator was unresponsive. Then the car completely died while driving. The problem is definitely a safety issue due to engine and accelerator stopping while driving. We took it to a good year dealer who originally thought it was battery and replaced it. But that did not solve the problem. Then a Nissan dealer received a code that it’s the cvt transmission. Nissan has had this issue with many of their cars and had a class action suit brought against them. I spoke with Nissan corp about extending warranty and repairing the cvt transmission which is an expensive repair. They refuse. The car is extremely unsafe to drive since it may not accelerate and then completely die at any time.
The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary at a traffic light, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle started to hesitate. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired, but was awaiting the repairs. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,200.
05/21/21--2016 Nissan Maxima with cvt tranmissions problems. No current recalls, but lots of lemon law cases from 2012-2018 with all models except the Maxima. Have 94k on it and was driving and it stopped mid street almost threw my son out the front windshield. Took it to Nissan $4800 to replace. Bought vehicle with cvt transmission being sold as "smoothness". But in reality it has been a complete nightmare that Nissan ignores on the Maximas.
I was driving my 2013 Nissan Maxima as I normally do every day. Then without any warning it would not accelerate. Thank god I had enough momentum to get it to a safe place and out of the highway. I almost got hit in the back to because I had the make a quick turn to get it out of the street and into a parking lot. And after I stopped the check engine light came on.

The vehicle was in a parked position at my home. Went and started vehicle and from park to drive it hesitated before it starts to move.
Upon coming to a stop the car does not want to accelerate, it jerks sometimes, if you go check on any Nissan forum or youtube comments you will see this is a major problem with these vehicles and can cause serious harm in traffic or crossing intersections, I am very surprised there hasnt been a recall yet. Its the cvt transmission! thousands of people have this problem and the extended warranty cuts off in 2011 so 2012 or newer we are s. O. L. It happens everytime I stop.
The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated the vehicle was unable to recognize the key fob inside the vehicle while attempting to start the vehicle. The contact stated a warning message was illuminated to keep the key fob close to the push to start button. The contact called the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the key fob battery to be replaced. The key fob battery was changed but continued to experience the failure. The contact also stated that the vehicle was also stalling. The contact took the vehicle to paul miller Nissan (930 kings hwy e, fairfield, CT 06825: (203) 335-3181) where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission and the crankshaft sensor to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
My cruise control stopped working. I took it to my Nissan dealer where I purchased the car. They advised me I needed a new transmission. However I had just put a new transmission in 3 years prior. I have never had this issue with any other vehicle. I spoke with Nissan consumer affairs who admitted there was an issue with their cvt. But they refused to do anything about it. They stated there is no recall and it’s my responsibility to fix it. The fix is not cheap as the cvt requires a brand new transmission that must be programmed specifically to your vehicle. They were not taking responsibility for the issue that they know is a problem. It is very frustrating to own a vehicle with a company who refuses to fix something they know is wrong. They are not the only ones who mentioned there is an issue. The dealer themselves have seen this numerous times and advised Nissan won’t do anything to make it right with any consumers. This poses a safety hazard in my eyes. Had this gone out at 60 mph it would not shift and could have been a significant safety risk. I am now out over $5,000 to fix the transmission. This is an unacceptable practice and they should be held responsible for continuing the this do nothing and not be forced to make a change in their production and design.
On the night of February 16, my teenage daughter was driving my 2011 Nissan Maxima when she came to a stop at a traffic light. When the light turned green, she moved her foot off the brake and began to accelerate when the vehicle all of a sudden would not move. She applied her foot to the accelerator several times but the vehicle still would not move. After several more attempts, the vehicle jerked forward in a violent manner but luckily, there was no other car ahead of her or I'm afraid a more serious event would have occurred. This all happened rather abruptly, without any advance warning or indication of a potential problem. The next day I took the vehicle to my local Nissan service center to have it diagnosed. The technician informed me a code indicated transmission fluid pressure low (even though it contained plenty of fluid) and advised a complete transmission replacement was needed at a cost of $7,138. This was the diagnosis despite no dashboard warning or service engine light indicator, as I indicated above. Upon returning home and researching the issue online, I discovered that this problem seems to be very common. I learned that Nissan has had major issues with the continuously variable transmission (cvt), including several class action lawsuits and other legal matters which subsequently resulted in Nissan extending the powertrain warranty on 2003-2010 Nissan vehicles and settling other lawsuits for newer model vehicles. However, model years 2011 and 2012 were not covered under these settlements despite having the same exact cvt. I have reached out to Nissan north America but they have not acknowledged liability or responsibility. Such a shame because the vehicle has not had any issues until this incident. It only has 106,000 miles but now I'm worried about what might happen if it is being driven.
Tuesday, Dec. 22 my 2016 Nissan Maxima just shut off while driving in hayward, CA near industrial rd. Called triple aaa who jumped the battery and a short distance later on hwy 880 the car shut off again, I was towed off the freeway by caltrans. On January 4, it shut off again while on a city streets. A CO-workers husband replaced the battery and I was able to safely drive it home. Jan. 30 a mechanic looked at ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong. I drove it without issue several times from el cerrito to san rafael the week. On Feb. 5 while driving on the streets in oakland, the car just shut off. While waiting for aaa it started again by the time aaa arrived it had stopped again. Luckily this hasn't caused me to have an accident. It is extremely unsafe. And while I see there are several complaints about this issue reported here the service department at the dealership only wants to charge me $190 to diagnostics when they know this is an issue. This issue is a ticking time bomb for a serious accident occurs and Nissan needs to address as soon as possible.
On 1/31/2021 I was driving on the freeway when the car lost acceleration. I had to pull over on the left shoulder before I become a hazard. I turned the car off and the car started clicking as if I had a dead battery. The car started after sitting for 10 minutes. The car accelerated like normal but lost all acceleration after 2 miles. I called tow. This is the same problem I had a few months before and had to be towed. Aaa checked the alternator and battery and the charging system was showing normal. This is intermittent problem that comes and go but can not be diagnosed because of no active codes. This is a serious problem that can lead to an accident.
Twice on the highway if had issues where the car accelerated on its own and a few times it's seem to lose power and than compensate and completely launch leading to a quick jerking motion. I'm afraid that it could completely stop on the highway or accelerate into something. Other than that there's no issues but this is concerning since I'm always giving family member rides including a pregnant wife so it needs to be looked into in my opinion it could be a huge disaster if it happens to an inexperienced driver. *also I'm not sure of the exact date of when this happened. I just want to make that known since that's one of the questions asked.
I have an 05 Nissan Maxima and the transmission is shifting hard and erratically.

My transmission sounds very loud when I accelerate until I get to about 55 mph. It seems to feel rough as well during that period. This happens every time I accelerate. My passenger seat doesn't blow cold air.
Vehicle stalls in the middle of traffic it looses power with n warning at all. I took to the vehicle to the Nissan dealership on 11/7/2020 and they could not duplicate what happen and stated they placed it on the computer with no codes showing. On the way home 11/12/20 as I was entering traffic on highway 85 I lost power again I was almost hit by two vehicles. I press the accelerator 3 times before it took off very fast. I will be calling the dealership again today.
Cvt transmission suddenly gets stuck on a lower "gear", often going from drive to 2nd, while driving freeway speeds, causing the engine to rev to very high rpm's and the car to quickly loose power and slow down. The power loss is so dramatic it is difficult to change lanes within traffic in order to pull off the freeway to safety. Often the vehicle speed drops by 30 mph or more. I have taken the car into Nissan on numerous times and they tell me I need a new $7000 transmission even though my car only had 60k miles on her when the issue first started. They know they have an issue with this transmission and they have recalled and replaced transmissions for other vehicles withbthe cvt, altima and marano, but not the Maxima. They say because it's a beefier transmission, but it is the same faulty component in all the transmissions despite the size of the transmission. Through my research, this isba widespread problem for Maxima owners within the years of this transmission issue. . It is interesting to note that Nissan decreased the powertrain warranty from 100k mi down to 60k mi for the model years that have this cvt issue, and bumped it back to 100k after the issue was resolved for newer model year cars.
Well my car while driving it will completely shut off in me while im driving it. After it cranks back up it is very slow to take off.

I bought this 2006 Nissan Maxima sl with 137,806 miles. I drove it home. The next day, it would not start, I went and bought a battery, on the way the service engine soon light came on. , then the tcs and slip light came on. Took it to a mechanic shop, he keep it almost 4 weeks, and then told me it was not worth fixing/repairing it. I could not believe, I just spent over $4,000. 00 on this car and I only drove it home!!, I took it to another well known mechanic shop, he tells me that it needs a new transmission, motor mounts, sensors and probably more. It is not worth fixing it. I am a 57 year old lady and I dont have the money to buy another car and I dont have the money to fix it. I hear that these cars have alot of transmission problems and more. I wish I had known that before buying it.
I have had to replace both control arms, rebuild a transmission that went out, my entire ac just went out, I am constantly replacing brakes and disk, ball joints and shocks. I have spent over what I am still paying for this car and have only had it for about 5 years and still owe $18000 and paying everything out of pocket.
My Maxima is only 4 years old and it started jumping and hesitating while driving. The Nissan repair shop said that my transmission is bad and it looks like 'glitter' inside. They have to replace it. Apparently Nissan has a class action lawsuit against them because of these cvt transmissions. They are not acknowledging the problem with the Maximas because they said it is not happening as often as in the smaller cars. My car is a little bit out of warranty so they still made me pay a portion of the transmission even though they knew it would break. Its not right they should be covering a 4 year old cars transmission going bad in full when they know about the problems.
Headlights disabled in rain car varied right drastically and in park it still go in motion.

Unable to push start car ignition. A key signal shows on dash and car will not start after shutting down engine. The key is in the car at the time. My daughter has been stranded several times because she can't get push start ignition to start. I have read that other owners of this make and more have had same issue.
When driving the car would loose power and not accelerate. Driving onto on ramp to highway and car would not accelerate and started to loose speed while merging. No lights came on dash or anything. Seems like the car went into limp mode or something.
