39 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

My car accelerated causing damage to mailbox, telephones pole and I don't know what else? and myself, along with other people could have been seriously hurt, was driving down the street when a car pulled in front of me, I swerved to keep from hitting them, when I did that my car accelerated to high speed, while my foot was on the brake the whole time and both hands on the stirring wheel while it proceeded to cross the intersection until it came to a stop, foot still on brake while it started to back up slowly back into the intersection I pray to god and then stirred the wheel into the sidewalk and into the back of a pole is where it stopped foot still on brake while the police and ambulance got there. I noticed a week befor it stopped in the middle of me driving it, I thought maybe the key need a new battery so I strarted using the key in the egnition which I usually don't do because of it being a keyless also noticed the seat belt was having issues would not return to its proper place after releasing the belt. ? I know this was a electrical or malfunction and someone needs to find it because I did not mistake the gas for the brake.

So I took it back and forward to the dealership for over a year and nothing was done then finally they did a full front and back break job, had the rotors turned and the vehicle is still squeaking badly. The dealership keeps telling me they can't find anything but something is wrong. I'm afraid to go far in my car because of safety concerns. Problem acquires when braking.

48 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/04/2016

This is reference to two situation concerning Nissan recalls. In 2014 I took my car to sansone Nissan dealer on rt 1, NJ to take care of the airbag recall issue NHTSA ref#15v287000. My airbag light was not on when I took it to the dealer, after I came home a week later the airbag light came on. I don't think the dealer took care of the recall issue, if they did my airbag light would not be on. I would like Nissan to give authorization to the dealer to correct this problem. My second issue was on Jan 2016, I was driving to work, all of a sudden the car shut off on me, the brake lock up and all I could do was stair to the side of the road. . I was lucky that there wasn't any oncoming traffic. I had to call the tow truck to have my car towed but before the tow truck came I tried starting the car again and it started. I was a few minutes from home, so I drove back home and I had my local mechanic picked it up and did a diagnosis on it. He said it was the crank position sensor, I purchased it and he installed it. The car started working a little better but my service engine soon warning light is still on. I did a little investigation and found out that there was a recall for engine and engine cooling recall #03v455000. I read it and found that the consequence on the recall is the exact same thing that happen to me. Again sansone dealer on rt. 1 in NJ is claiming that they took care of this issue but I was never told that this was a recall by Nissan. I wanted Nissan to correct this problem based on the fix under NHTSA ref# 03v455000. I've been taking car of all the maintenance on my car since I purchased it from Nissan but I feel that Nissan is responsible for these two issue, since it was defect in design on their end.

The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v733000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

52 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 09/27/2015

Prior to incident car was shifting really hard and slipping gears. Once when driving, car suddenly went into a safety mode not letting it shift out of 5th gear. Going down hill caused the engine to stall because of being in 5th gear and car engine turned off, as well as power steering and braking. Had it been on a busy road a crash would have occurred.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

Takata recall. I brought my 2016 Maxima in June 2015. Plastic bottles melts and explodes in my car. And eye glass class melts. Front right bumber clamps broke off. Months later cat started making a chruching sound when I hit a bump. Replace bushings. 3 days later the nose came back. Went back to Nissan they said the strut needed to be replace. Went back 2 months later the part is still on back order. Front driver seat broke in the 1st 2 weeks of owning it. Got a new seat. And the door jams was poorly painted. Took almost 7 weeks to get a new seat and paint for the car. Driver seat beat latch jammed up had to get that replace too.

54 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/10/2015

Nothing but problems with 07 Maxima we bought, later repossessed. The steering wheel and the whole front of the car would shake uncontrollably especially when brakes were used. Also wheels (not factory but they were on there when purchased, but asked to replace but never happened) were noticeably bent. And lastly, the front and side airbags deployed after shutting my drivers side door causing my arm to be burned.

55 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/19/2015

At temperatures below 20 f the brake pedal will not depress and the car will not stop. This is a recurring incident. Most recently, pulled away from parking spot (street parking) and drove towards an intersection with a stop sign. Tried to stop, but the brake pedal was stuck (would not depress) and the car rolled past the stop sign until it eventually rolled to a stop on the other side of the road. Honked horn to avoid collision as the street I crossed is a busy two-way road. Kept the car in park for about a minute while pumping the brakes, and they worked again after that. . Read more...

Our confirmation for earlier complaint is : 10628840 since we bought the car, it is an on going problem. We had engine light and suspension problem. While driving car some times starts waivering and jumping. Also gets very difficult to control the steering. Many of the Nissan places have charged us a healthy amount of money but the problem stays the same. Can not be driven on highways. I have submitted all the documents with the previous complaint. Please advise and help us. Thank you.

59 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 08/09/2014

I was driving my car on an average day. As I made a right turn, ahead of oncoming traffic, I tried to accelerate and my car would not accelerate above 20-30mph. With traffic swiftly approaching at speeds near 40-50mph, luckily, I was able to pull into a nearby gas station. None of my check engine/warning lights were on. I turned the car off and started it back up but the issue remained. When I tried to accelerate the car wouldnt o over 30mph and was making a heaving vibration noise every time I stopped. I was able to get the car to a Nissan dealership who ultimately recommended the repairs outlined in the service bulletin. My warranty company denied the claim "citing water damage", but the bulletin lists the pfp (primary failed part) as the "housing assy- rear axle,rh" (which should have been covered). I bought the vehicle used (from a Nissan dealer) and becasue the manufacturers warranty had expired I was forced to pay for the repairs ($1,000+) on a vehicle that I barley had for 1 year. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs (as recomended by the dealership) to try and get some type of assistance with this issue. They basically told me its not their problem since the Nissan warranty had expired on the vehicle. Nissan is very well aware of this defect that is a severe safety concern due to the obvious design. I luckily had time and space to move my vehicle safely off the road; the next person may not be as lucky. Nissan should and needs to be held responsible for the overall safety of their all vehicles and this ongoing defect. A recall should be mandated to correct this potential hazard while driving. A life is far more valuable than recall expenses. . Read more...

61 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/12/2014

My abs/traction control system failed. Due to the system failing the vehicle transmission malfunctions. This happened while I was driving on the highway traveling at the recommended speed. Due to the abs/traction control system failing my vehicle decelerated quickly causing a unsafe environment for me, my passenger and the vehicles behind me. Fortunately the vehicles behind me was at a safe distance and no accident was caused. I had to have the vehicle towed to safe location because this malfunction causes the transmission to not shift from a low gear. This problem with my vehicle is unsafe and I have just found that it is a common problem. Yet there has been no responsible action taken by Nissan. Please investigate this issue.

62 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

63 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/29/2013

The front rotors became warped for the 2nd time since I have owned the car. The first time the car had approx 23k miles, was under warranty and the vehicle was repaired at a local Nissan dealership. The car now has 49k miles and once again began vibrating when the brakes were applied. Car was taken to a mechanic, who recommended that both front rotors be replaced. Two sets of rotors in a car with less than 50k miles seems excessive.

64 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

While casually driving, hands on steering wheel, foot on accelerator, asphalt road slightly damp but not wet, on a two way street with no reason to expect a sudden crisis, the aba brakes on my 2006 Maxima suddenly locked throwing the rear end of the vehicle into a slide facing oncoming traffic which at this time there happened to be none. When I felt the sudden action, which was like I had run into an invisible wall, I then hit the brakes attempting to stop the vehicle. The steering wheel seemed to float with no control of the direction headed. The car continued to accelerate instead of braking. This sent the vehicle back across to the right side of the road into a concrete curb and over into a grassy area before the car came to a stop. Only exterior minor damage from hitting a small sign post. Had it immediately towed to the dealer who road tested it but found no reason for the incident. They said there were no computer codes for what happened. I spoke to the service manager and called Nissan to explain what happened. They had no clue for why. I am still afraid to drive this car in heavy traffic for fear of a repeat. With such low miles and in the garage care over the years it is not time to trade it in.

65 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/11/2013

I have a 2006 Maxima with 78,000 miles. About 2 months ago the automatic transmission started jerking when shifting from gear 1 to gear 2. Also jerking from reverse into drive. After stopping, the transmission does not engage and the rpms sky rocket until the gear engages. I have had the transmission serviced but the problem still continues. This is a major problem in heavy traffic where stopping and starting is required due to stop signs and lights. It could also result in another car rear-ending me because the transmission will not engage immediately when accelerating.

66 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 04/07/2013

2nd time: abs activates when pressing on brakes. Anti-lock braking system hums even without pressing brakes.

67 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/04/2013

Failure in abs system. Abs, tcs, and slip warning lights show after the occurring sound of grinding in the brakes. Apparently this is a known problem in 2004 - 2007 Maximas. There is a TSB floating all over the internet documenting the problem and possible repair procedures. Dealer wants close to 3k for a known issue!!!.

68 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/10/2013

First after buying this Nissan Maxima 2006, I noticed that my head light lamps needed to be changed every 14 months. I never had a car where I had to replace the head light lamps so often. Both of my other cars (Toyota and Honda) have over 100k miles and we never had to change the lamps on those cars. Next, the abs brakes are not working properly, really? after 70k miles? wow! later I found out that this is a common problem with this car. The abs appear to be running while the car is moving and on dry roads. Finally, the transmission. Why do I have a slipping transmission on a car with only 64k miles. After research, I found out that the problems that I'm having with this Nissan Maxima, hundreds of other owns are having the same problems. I always had Honda and Toyota cars and I decided to try something new in this Maxima. I will never buy Nissan again, I'm running back to Honda and Toyota!!!.

69 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

The car is jerking/bucking violently when shifting from reverse into drive and again when shifting into first and second gears. It is also jerking when downshifting from second to first gear. At first, the shifting problem was an occasional occurrence, however, it has progressively gotten worse. Now it is almost constant. After researching this problem, I have found that hundreds and hundreds of '04-05 Maxima owners are experiencing the exact same problems. This is quite obviously a Nissan manufacturing defect that should be corrected by Nissan corp.

70 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

Abs activates during normal braking making horrible grinding sound. Nissan dealer told me the actuator and rear hub needed repair for an extreme amount of money over $2,000. 00. I had the similar problem previously with my 2004 Nissan Maxima, the only repair needed was to dismantle rear brake rotor, clean the corrosion, grind a notch in the knuckle, and reassemble it back. This is a major issue with all cars in middle eastern and central states because of the cold weather conditions. In my opinion it should be a national recall, for all the people having this issue is the united states and canada.
