6 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

The passenger airbag light flashes constantly while the car is running and being driven. Took it to a local Nissan dealer who told me the entire bottom cushion would have to be replaced at a cost of $4000. It's the same problem other Murano's are having, but my cars VIN number wasn't on the recall list, so this would be an out of pocket expense. I was told they could turn the flashing indicator off, but the passenger airbag will not deploy if in an accident. Nissan knows this is a problem with several 2009 Murano's but refuses to address the problem by adding it to the recall list. It is unimaginable and unacceptable that Nissan will allow the airbag light to be turned off knowing the airbag will not deploy properly and risk severe injury, or possible loss of life rather than make this a recall fix. Also the car only has 58000 miles on it.

9 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/10/2017

Even though my car is not registered in the current "campaign" (Nissan's euphemism for a recall) nonetheless, my airbag light on the dash is flashing, indicating that the airbag system may be faulty. Nissan refuses to fix it without a full diagnostic going over (about $100 fee) and does not seem to care that a passenger in my car could get killed if the airbag fails to deploy. My car is a 2009 Murano with only 59,000 miles on it.

15 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

On April 10, 2015 approximately 7:50am, I was driving east bound on sand lake road orlando florida in the slow lane when a white Dodge stratus suddenly appeared out of no-where turned into the flow of traffic causing me to hit his passenger side of his car. 23 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

While driving on a curvy, gravel road I had just come out of a left sided curve. The vehicle started spinning counter clockwise towards a ditch. I immediately started turning my wheel clockwise to compensate and regain control. My left rear tire lost air which I believe was the reason I could not regain control. I ended up in a ditch on the left side of the road. The problem in hand was that the driver's airbag did not deploy, however the passenger side did deploy. Had the airbag deployed as it should have, I would have not been taken to the hospital via ambulance. Due to the malfunction of the airbag my daughter hit the steering wheel where by cracking her 1st and 2nd rib, received a head concussion, thoracic back paid, cervical strain-whiplash, chest wall contusion, contusions in both knees, intra-abdominal hematoma's and has suffered greatly. I have notified Nissan and they are unwilling to assume responsibility for a faulty product. Is there anything you can do to assist? sincerely,.

25 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

Approximately 2 weeks ago due to no fault of our own as we were driving our air bag light came on. We took our vehicle to the Nissan dealership in our area. They told us our air bag control monitor was bad and our air bags will not deploy in an accident. Upon ordering the part we were told the part is on backorder. They also told us that we have to pay to have this repaired at our own expense. The service manager proceeded to tell my wife and I that the part is only warranted for 3 years when the car was new. Now it was our issue since we bought the car used.

26 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/08/2010

Upon starting the vehicle it was noticed the airbag light was flashing on the console. On 12/8/2010 contacted Nissan dealership, wright automotive - wexford, PA, and service agent advised the earliest they could see the vehicle was12/13/2010 and that the airbag would not deploy while the airbag light was flashing. Upon taking vehicle to dealership service agent advised he has not seen this issue in the 2 years he's been at the dealership and advised there is no recall or known TSB. Service order indicated a code of b1054 which means 'drivers side air bag open'. Thus, they recommended 'replace spiral cable' for a total cost of $371. 88. I paid $69. 95 diagnostic fee, $197 spiral cable, and $18. 69 tax and pending payment of $104. 93 labor cost to replace part. Upon researching this issue on the web the following was uncovered: several Murano owners, crossing model years, have experienced the same issue and two suggested solutions. The first solution states to perform a reset by turning the vehicle from 'off' to 'on' three times while counting to 5 during the 'off' time. This solution worked for several owners. The second solution identified by one owner said replacement of the 'seat belt pre tensioner', which was supposedly covered under a recall for a 2005 Murano, solved the identified issue. We choose to perform a self 'reset' on 12/13/2010 which was subsequent to dealership analysis payment of $266. 95 (diagnostic fee and special part order). Upon discussing the 'reset' with Nissan service agent, he suggested either return special order part and pay restocking fee or keep the part since he believes the light will begin flashing again. Since performing the 'reset' the flashing airbag light has not returned. Nissan needs to determine if this is a safety concern and issue a recall or if this is not a safety issue then Nissan should document a TSB solution.

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

On Friday August 1, 2008 I was involved in a three-car motor vehicle accident. My car was struck from behind by another vehicle while I was in the process of stopping at a red light. My vehicle subsequently struck a stopped small truck that was ahead of me. There was front head-on collision as well as rear vehicle damage. My vehicle was a 2003 Nissan Murano. The only individual in my Murano was myself. The unoccupied passenger side airbag deployed but my driver-side airbag did not deploy. This failure for airbag deployment is what I am reporting now. The vehicle is unusable and has been taken to a tow yard.

31 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/22/2007

I ran off the left side of a mountain road hitting a large tree with the driver's door, then continued down the hill another ~20 feet slamming into a boulder. When I hit the tree, the driver's door window broke as well as the driver's side rear door. The door was jammed shut. The Nissan was equipped with front side impact airbags and both front and rear head protection airbags. None were deployed. When I hit the boulder, the front passenger airbag deployed, but the driver's front airbag failed to deploy. The pre-tensioner on the driver's seatbelt did not latch resulting in me hitting my upper chest and lower jaw on the steering wheel since the airbag did not deploy. The fuel cut-off device also failed to activate and shut off the engine. After almost a minute, I turned off the engine with the key. I had been knocked unconscious for several seconds. The 2004 Nissan Murano sustained over $25,000 in damage which resulted in it being totaled by my insurance company. The airbag light would illuminate briefly when starting the car prior to the accident. So there was no indication of an airbag malfunction. There was substantial damage to the driver's side of the vehicle as well as the front and undercarriage. My injuries were limited to bruises to my chest and lower jaw. The accident also greatly aggravated a prior injury to my upper back. When I went to go remove my personal belongings from the vehicle, I found that the jack, mounted in the rear floor had come completely out.
