Nissan Pathfinder owners have reported 7 problems related to fuel hoses lines/piping and fittings (under the gasoline fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Pathfinder based on all problems reported for the Pathfinder.
I noticed my fuel gauge on my 2003 Nissan Pathfinder se did not change even though I had driven more than 200 miles on a tank of gasoline. At approximately that same time, the service engine soon light came on. When we had the code checked it came back fuel level sensor. In researching this issue on line I find that a large number of Nissan owners have had the very same problem and it is a costly repair as the gas tank needs to be removed in order to replace the senor. Nissan has issued a recall for certain years, but not currently the 2003. This problem could present serious issues for drivers if they depend on their fuel gauge to tell them if they have fuel. Isn't that what the gauge is for?.

2005 Nissan Pathfinder: fuel gauge sensor problem. When I fill the tank the gas gauge drops below "e" and the fuel light comes on. The dte indicators flashes - - - - lines (indicating I am at 0 miles til empty), and the service engine light comes on. Once I use about 100 miles of the gas the gauges will all correct themselves. We have contacted Nissan and they will not cover this as it is not a recall. There are over a dozen articles on line where people have noted the same identical problem with the fuel gauges. Nissan will not cover the problem - it will cost approx $700 for us to fix. Please push Nissan along and have them recall the vehicles experiencing this problem.

2005 Pathfinder se- with 52k miles vehicle shut off while traveling at high speed (70mph) on freeway- all power controls failed problem was identified to be with a failure of the fuel level sensor- reports acquired indicate that this is a widespread problem with premature failure of this unit on 2005 and newer model year Pathfinders- fuel level indicator fails and gives inaccurate reading to driver - when tank is empty shows it to be 1/2 full. When driving at high speed loosing all engine power can be catastrophic dealer reports many similar problems but Nissan has not recalled for this widespread manufacturing/design problem reported also on line.
Fuel sender gauge on my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is failing or has failed. Will consistently flash dashes or report "0" for the distance to empty indicator and the fuel gauge is now responding similarly. There has been no damage to property or injury as of yet, but I am appalled that Nissan has the 2005 armada (similar design) and the 2006 Pathfinder listed for the recall, but claims the Pathfinder is not covered by this, when a quick search of forums will offer up overwhelming evidence that this is a problem for numerous parts of the product line and could easily result in the car shutting down due to faulty information or running out of fuel due to inaccurate readings. To make matters worse for owners the repair for this runs upward of $600 for an admitted faulty part. Can the dot at least look into this and consider rectifying this situation? I am having a hard time believing that a company could just overlook this problem and simply get away with it. Please help us who are having a hard enough time making ends meet every month since this economic downturn began and are looking at unexpected vehicle failures that are blatantly a manufacturer's defect (even admitted to) but not covered by some weird economic choice. If I'd thought I'd be going through this, I would've bought both smaller and from another manufacturer. You can bet that currently I will not buy another Nissan again, regardless of how many americans they employ.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. While on vacation in July of 2008, the contact noticed and smelled fuel leaking from the vehicle just one week after having the fuel sensor replaced. The odor was very strong. The manufacturer repaired the vehicle under warranty. When the contact retrieved the vehicle, she was informed that the fuel line was repaired, but she began smelling gasoline a few weeks later. There was no leakage at that time. On January 23, 2009, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the odor and they stated that no prior repairs appeared to have been made to the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 60,000.
