The automatic transmission shift cable lock plate breaks. A broken lock plate cause the automatic transmission shift selector lever to operate improperly. This result in the transmission gear indicated on the selector lever display differ from the gear engaged in the transmission.
The indicator will not move when gear is shifted; will later jump into gear.
