2 Power Train problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/22/2024

Have fixed myself ac compressor kit about 97,051miles on 6/12/2020, maf sensor, two vvt solenoids having driven it 20,000 miles in five years trying to rid light. Nov 2019 purchased at 94,719 miles. Roberts Nissan of manchester, TN checked and serviced on 12/04/2019 at 95,186 milles in excellent condition. Light will not stay off for power train system, cam timing bank, timing chains, vct camshaft timing vct, power supply circuit. Nissan did replace recall abs actuator. Had checked cookeville Nissan 5/21/2024 light on and they turned off saying it checked ok after a cold start for $230. It is loud now at 114,998 miles! this auto must have defective parts since gateway has serviced it regularly. I am concerned about driving. Talked to consumer affairs of Nissan and was told it was over 65,000 miles and not valid.

3 Power Train problem of the 2017 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 12/23/2023

Driving our van out of town, we started having problems with the transmission 2 hours into our drive. We have never had problems out of the transmission. When we accelerate from a stop it would give a shutter and sometimes a pop. It was very dangerous turning into the traffic as it was shuttering you loose power and could get hit. When we stopped at a store where I could check things out at turning the van off. When we started the vehicle it would not go into forward or reverse. We had it towed and had to pay over $4500 to replace the transmission with a new one. The mechanic said they get these all the time because it has a cvt transmission and they are no good. The replaced and refunded a lot of people that had different makes and model. I don’t understand why they don’t on a Nissan Quest . Nissan knows this is a problem. We had our entire family in the van and could have gotten hurt or killed. Nissan needs to do the right thing here and reimburse or replace them.

4 Power Train problem of the 2016 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 11/05/2023

Car need transmission replaced - there is no warning on car that transmission is having major issues (ie no check engine light). My car shakes on turning this has been on going since I purchased the car in 2017. In late 2023 the car did not have as much pick up power like it used to and had a whining noise once you drive for a while (without the power it used to). There were no check engine light warning to date. On 1/12/24 I used auto zone engine diagnostic and following error codes came up - p17fo - cvt judder p17f2 -judder t/c inspection diagnostic at aamco on 3/25/24 show additional issues that don’t show any warning signs eg check engine light per aamco additional issues: engine missing cylinder 3,4; and cylinder 1 is misfiring. Transmission juddering around 2nd gear, chain slipping under pressure…transmission having internal mechanical failure. I am not sure if these issues are serious enough to show as check engine. If they should I don’t know why my car check engine light is not on?.

8 Power Train problem of the 2011 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 07/03/2023

Van became sluggish when coming to the busy intersection. When I tried to accelerate when light changed, engine light came on and van would not go over 5mph. I was almost hit. Codes were run by a mechanic. Four internal transmission codes are present. Was told that the Quest has a transmission known for these problems. We could've been killed from the vehicle not moving with traffic.

9 Power Train problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/07/2023

Cvt transmission failed and had to replace with new cvt transmission while returning from a trip on June 7 2023. It failed in middle of the trip. Aamco boardman, OH helped replace it with brand new transmission and it cost $7525. Last year also compressor failed and had to replace it with brand new compressor at the local garage here in shippensburg. Mileage is only 110000 miles. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with 2012 Nissan Quest.

10 Power Train problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/15/2023

The cvt transmission on this vehicle has failed. The vehicle is jerking and and stalls while driving. If I'm at a light stopped and the light changes to go, the vehicle won't move unless I put my foot all the way down on the accelerator then it jenks and starts to move. I took it to sheridan Nissan in delaware, and they told me this has been the issue with the cvt transmission and I need to just get rid of the van. To get a new one put in is over $7000 with just a 12 mos12,000 miles warranty and they say it may go out again. I was told by another dealership that Nissan new about this problem, but won't fix it. I've noticed that they have replaced cvt transmissions in other Nissan vehicles and other years, but seem to skip the 2012 Nissan Quest. The engine light came on after it started jerking and I had it towed to Nissan and then they told me that the transmission is slipping. They told me I could drive it home, but to "get rid of it because it doesn't have much life left. " please make Nissan recall these transmissions like they did others. If they are all cvt transmissions, why are some being fixed and others being ignored? please help.

11 Power Train problem of the 2017 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/15/2023

I was driving on the roadway when I felt a jolt and my 2017 Nissan Quest suddenly would not accelerate. I was almost rear-ended and had to come to a stop in a moving lane of traffic. I had no warning lights or previous symptoms, and my Quest has about 80,000 miles. I had my vehicle towed to a local mechanic and was told that they have seen many other similar issues with the Nissan Quest's premature cvt transmission failure. The codes thrown indicated cvt transmission "judder. " they recommend that I call aaa and have it towed to a Nissan dealership. I had my Quest towed to a local Nissan dealership and was told the transmission would cost $6200 to repair, which is more than it is worth.

13 Power Train problem of the 2014 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 10/03/2022

Sent the van to Nissan for abs recall repair and also got my serpentine belt replaced. The check engine light went on when I got the car back. I got a p0840 code which is for transmission pressure sensor. Nissan said I would have to replace transmission. They have a faulty transmission or they could have ruined my van after the repairs.

14 Power Train problem of the 2011 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 04/19/2022

On April 19, 2022, I was driving home after picking up my son. The traffic was bumper to bumper. And as I sat in traffic, when I moved my foot from the brake to the accelerator, the vehicle would not move. So while sitting in traffic, and the traffic began to move, I could not move. So I turned the car off, and turned it back on, and I was able to move enough to get the vehicle on to the shoulder of traffic. My father came and changed the battery, and I was able to start the car and drive home, which was 30 minutes away. Two days later, same thing happened again. After driving the vehicle for a delivery, I was on my way to get some gas. And as I turned from one street to another, the vehicle stalled on me as I was turning slow. The vehicle would not start up at all. So I had to call a towing service to tow the vehicle home. According to some people online, the problem could be in the cvt transmission overheating, or it could possibly be a software issue. The 2011 Nissan Quest were a part of a recall, but when I put my VIN number in, it doesn't show my vehicle being one, but its doing what the recall was calling for. Our safety was put at risk, because the vehicle stalled in the middle of 2 busy highways, causing a safety risk for me and my son, but also causing a risk for others behind me in traffic, not knowing that my vehicle was stalled. There were no warning signs that popped up at all. The car just quit driving. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. Right now it is just sitting in front of my house, until we figure out what to do next. I have had to pay 2 towing fees for the problem, and don't want to come out paying a whole lot for this issue. We just bought this vehicle from a private owner 2 weeks ago, and this is the first week it is doing this.

15 Power Train problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/11/2022

I was on a busy freeway only 10 miles from my city and my van with no warning started to slow down and I tried pushing gas to make it go faster to the speed limit because there were semi trucks lined behind and beside me and it wouldn’t accelerate at all. It just continued to slow down at a fast rate and I was trying to get to the side of the freeway as fast as possible and the steering wheel got hard to turn to the side. It was a struggle and I had my husband, and all 5 of my daughters with me. We were all scared out of our minds. Vehicles were passing so close to us and so fast. The vehicle came to a complete stop on the side of the freeway and the engine was still running and I tried to push gas but it just revved up and didn’t move at all. My family and I were stranded for hours waiting for help to come. We could have been hit by so many vehicles. I turned off the van and restarted a few minutes later to try to get it to go but it wouldn’t budge. Just made whining sounds.

17 Power Train problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/12/2021

I am having a problem on the cvt transmission of my 2012 Nissan Quest. It's becoming too dangerous to drive because it's keep on jerking when I'm driving it in the street that is way I don't drive it in the freeway because it's too dangerous and lately it speed up that I almost get an accident. First it won't run whenever I stop at stop sign and/or stop light, when I press the accelerator it won't run like it normally do and then all of the sudden it will speed up that I almost get in an accident. I want the Nissan manufacturer to recall my Quest and fix my transmission.

18 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 01/07/2021

I just replaced all the motor mounts on my 2007 Nissan Quest. They have gone bad again. After looking up many forums online, this appears to be a very common issue and possible design flaw. Why has this not become a recall on Nissan's part? are motor mounts not a concern? everyone is stating that no matter what they use, either aftermarket or genuine Nissan parts, they all fail.

19 Power Train problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 12/21/2020

Daughter's Quest has a bad cvt transmission. Diagnosis made by independent service center. Check engine light came on. Codes p1700, p0746, & p0868. Unsafe to drive - doesn't accelerate, shakes, shutters, etc. Other Nissan Quest/Nissan owners with same issue (pathfinder, rogue, juke, murano, versa, sentra, altima). Refer to carcomplaints. Com. I mailed a letter to Nissan corp office in franklin TN. They offered no assistance. Nissan settled a class action law suit for sentra, versa, altima with same trans problem by agreeing to replace trans and extend warranty from 5yrs/60k miles to 10 yrs/120k miles. Want Nissan to replace bad cvt transmissions and extend warranty on Quest vans and other models with bad cvt transmissions.

20 Power Train problem of the 2011 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/27/2020

Acceleration from a full stop is unreliable. The issue is most prominent when going up a slight incline and will continue until the vehicle is able to level off, when acceleration resumes to normal response. Even on level road surfaces, the acceleration is inconsistent once accelerator is pressed. This has been a consistent issue for well over a year.

21 Power Train problem of the 2013 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 07/27/2020

Driving down the freeway, transmission gave out as we were pulling into the exit. Were able to cruise to a read. Cvt complete failure at 95,852 miles. Have always loved Nissan but have had two major issues in the last few months that have left a bad taste.

Vehicle acceleration drops off when accelerating from a stop for the past couple months. Vehicle accelerates normally after a couple seconds of unresponsive acceleration. Dealership advised on service visits, they claim they can not duplicate the issue, but I can while leaving the dealership.

24 Power Train problem of the 2014 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/31/2020

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle hesitated, jerked, and failed to properly shift gears. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved an unknown fault code pertaining to the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact called rountree moore Nissan (4262 us-90, lake city, FL 32055, (386) 752-5050) and was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. Failure Date: 02/27/2020

Upon accelerating from a stationary position at a stop sign, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The driver was turning right, and she was able to get the car to the shoulder where she turned off the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, she was able to drive away with little noticeable problem. She states the car will often jerk into gear and sometimes will seem to jump in/out of gear while driving. The engine light came on, and the code reads "p0746".

26 Power Train problem of the 2011 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/25/2019

The vehicle was stalling multiple times on the freeway on my way to work this morning (9/25/19) and there is a sudden thump on the engine as it was trying to accelerate and would stall again after a few yards. So I decided to pullover safely and started the vehicle again until I reached my destination but with emergency lights on. This is absolutely a safety issue as it increases the risk of a crash or being hit from behind, with the vehicle stalling. This is the 2nd Nissan Quest I owned and it is having the same problem. The 1st one had issues at 50,000+ miles. The manufacture should look into this safety issue.

27 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

When you start driving the vehicle from a cold start it drives and shifts perfect. As soon as it reaches operating temperature it will slam when shifting gears. After 5 minutes or so it will not move. Shut the vehicle off for 15 to 20 minutes and I shifts and drives fine for a few more minutes then the same problems happen again.

28 Power Train problem of the 2013 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/18/2019

I was driving my 2013 Nissan Quest, when without any warning it stop accelerating, it would nit go forward or backwards. I was stuck in the middle of traffic with a car full of my family this is very dangerous. I noticed that when the a/c is on the car will move forward or backwards. This is dangerous and when moving and you turn right or left the van stops accelerating with out anywarning no check engine nothing . This problem needs to be fixed before a hole family losses there life due to faulty warning and the transmission not working like it should, it sounds like tjhis is an issue with a lot of the same model vans.

29 Power Train problem of the 2013 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

Cvt (transmission) began slipping/jerking and disengaging at approximately 121,000 miles. Upon initial start up the slipping/jerking can be noticed. Once vehicle reaches normal operating temperatures (driving conditions), its ability to engage is hit/miss leaving vehicle relatively motionless in middle of intersection after a stop/slow down. This condition leaves vehicle/occupants in a serious hazardous situation, especially attempting to turn through cross traffic.

30 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/27/2019

After purchasing this vehicle and driving home the check engine light came on the vehicle engine reved up but didn't move then it continued to drive every now and then it did this . No horn no air bags suspension then felt funny.

31 Power Train problem of the 2016 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/19/2019

Took my Nissan in for the 60000 services and found out there is a problem on the cvt has a code p17f1. The service tech explained what's wrong how is shakes and judder and I have been feeling this since 45000mile and I'm just about 3000 out of warranty at 63000 miles and Nissan USA does not want to cover the repair. The cvt judder upon acceleration 0-40. I was advised to get the valve body replaced and was quoted $1340. 47. I have been a loyal Nissan owner for years I have Nissan titan 2006 , 1984 Nissan 300zx, 2004 infinity i35, 2014 Nissan altima, and had 2003 Nissan maxima.

32 Power Train problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 12/27/2018

The vehicle stalls due to transmission. Cvt failed when the vehicle has some 93,000 miles. Vehicle stalled in the middle of the freeway and did not move. We had to tow it home. This seems to be a widespread problem with these vehicles.

33 Power Train problem of the 2014 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/21/2018

88,000 miles on my minivan. The continuously variable transmission (cvt) slips repeatedly. Car looses power and will not accelerate for 10-60 seconds frequently. Cvt jerks at takeoff most of the time. I tried crossing a busy highway and I went halfway across then the van stopped moving forward. Luckily there were no other vehicles in the lane it stopped in. It took about 2 minutes before it would move forward again. This is a dangerous vehicle to drive or ride in because you can't trust the transmission to work properly.

34 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Quest
