I being having this problem a couple months already. Everytime that I drive my Nissan Quest for a while the gears start slipping. Before and after I make a stop it's like somebody hit me in the back.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. While driving 45 mph, the transmission slipped and made an abnormal noise from the front end of the vehicle. In addition, the odometer failed to provide the reading level. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission, the water pump, and the electrical system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 122,681.

Transmission slipped when accelerating. Almost caused crash due to having to stop and let traffic continue because stuck in middle of road. Fluid level and color check and fine. Did this several times intermittently.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph, the transmission slipped gears without warning. The failure recurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis, who informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000. Js.
The failure occurs while driving at either local traffic speeds or highway speeds. It is an intermittent problem. The failure is that, while braking, the vehicle accelerates on its own, as if the accelerator has been depressed for passing, causing the transmission to drop to a lower gear and the vehicle to lurch forward. The brake pedal must be vigorously depressed to counteract the acceleration. Experience has shown that, if the transmission is slipped into neutral and then returned to drive, the vehicle will return to normal until the next incident. The incidents have occurred six times over the past two years, the most recent being on Sunday, November 15, while trying to brake as I approached a dangerous curve on a mountain road. Please note that the accelerator was not obstructed by the floor mat or any other object during these incidents, nor was the accelerator pedal depressed at the same time as the brake pedal. I took the vehicle to eisenhauer Nissan on at their first appointment on November 17, 2009. I also called Nissan corporate headquarters to report the issue. The dealership was unable to diagnose the problem or correct it because the intermittent problem was not occurring at that moment. On November 17 Nissan regional representative owen welch responded to my second call to Nissan hq, but told me there was nothing Nissan could do for me. At my insistence he said he would follow up. Welch called again on November 23, 2009 to inform me that Nissan couldn't help and that he was closing my file. The vehicle has approximately 52,000 miles and is still under warranty.

Was told on 6/28/08 that my Quest needed a new "brain" for the computer and this is what was causing the vehicle to not go out of second gear. We are still waiting on the part and Nissan USA has no answers for when the part will be in. They have refused us a rental because it is not their policy because the 5/60 warranty is out, but the part to the engine is under warranty. The car is unsafe to drive - the transmission often slips as well as provides no acceleration most of the time.
I purchased a 2006 Nissan Quest on March 14, 2006 form Nissan 112 in medford, n. Y. And I have had nothing but a multitude of problems with this vehicle due to many defects. I have had to have the car serviced 5 times in the first month and a half of ownership and there are still many problems that have not and cannot be resolved. I was told by nys senator lavalle's office to contact you. VIN # 5n1bv28u36n103305-the car smells like rotten eggs, transmission slips, buck and jerks causing delay of acceleration. Does not always start on first key turn, rugs in hatch area stained from multiple leaks. "new" replaced computer mileage does not match odometer mileage therefore service screen is useless. Dashboard chipped and not set correctly, can see inside. Radio does not always display title/artist and letters become skewed/broken or stuck. Ticking sound that comes from front pass. Side dash. There is black glue all over exterior from re-sealing the rear window.
I have had the van in the shop at least 4 times(~15 days) with ongoing problems which include: the windows failing to roll up when button is pushed, the gas gauge failing to register gas after filling it up, the gas meter after a half a tank never registers correctly (when light indicates no gas and tank is filled the van will only take 16 gallons and owners manual indicates a 20 gallon tank), the transmission slips, the sliding doors squeak and rattle, rear interior clamps on floor of car are rusting, idiot lights come on intermittently, the gaskets on the doors are coming off, the heated seats haven't worked in high and low, the entertainment system doesn't respond to rear av, and the air conditioner is not cool enough and it stinks. The automatic slide doors will not stop for small objects but this product was designed for families. These doors will remove a child's finger and the switch to initiate the auto slide is low, where one child can push it while another is getting in, or has their hand in the way and didn't realize their brother pushed the button. I did my own little research test, I got pencils and everywhere I placed a pencil the door closed with the pencil being snapped into many pieces and crunched up in the door. Then I tried the same thing on my friend's Honda, but the Honda's auto slide doors bounced off every time. Nissan only designed their doors to respond to large extremities. I have an attorney and I am going through a process for lemon law. I didn't realize the issues with the van in a few days so I don't think Nissan service will resolve all these issues in 2 days with a special Nissan engineer sent out from the company as part of my lemon law process. And in regards to the sliding door concerns all anyone will say is that the doors are performing the way they were designed to. So Nissan designed a product for families that will remove a small hand or finger.

Transmission slips intermittently when attempting to accelerate. Dealer describes problm as transmission going into third gear default. Problem has not been fixed yet. The consumer filed vehicle under the florida lemon law.
We have the 2004 sl and have had two occurrences where the car has no power and accelerated very slowly from a stopped position. This occurs the first time the car is turned on and does not stop until the car is shut off. It appears that the transmission is slipping since the rpms are high, the engine is revving, but the car is not moving. After about 35-40 mph it breaks free. The dealer has witnessed the problem, I took it straight there the 2nd time it happened. They have done nothing to fix it, can't duplicate. I went to bbb arbitration and lost. I am pursing with an attorney.
