Engine Problems of Nissan Quest

Van driving odd, dealer found that engine mount was broke. Dealer replaced engine mount saying it was serious issue and seen often in Nissans.

Was told on 6/28/08 that my Quest needed a new "brain" for the computer and this is what was causing the vehicle to not go out of second gear. We are still waiting on the part and Nissan USA has no answers for when the part will be in. They have refused us a rental because it is not their policy because the 5/60 warranty is out, but the part to the engine is under warranty. The car is unsafe to drive - the transmission often slips as well as provides no acceleration most of the time.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. While the vehicle was parked for 45 minutes, it spontaneously caught fire and was completely destroyed. An investigator inspected the vehicle and concluded that the fire originated in the engine compartment due to a failure of the power distribution box. The contact has a copy of the police report and pictures of the incident. The manufacturer denied any responsibility for the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. In may 1999, Nissan corp sold me defective Nissan Quest. Every 2-3 years this vehicle develops excessive carbonous deposits in the part of the engine called the throttle-body assembly. These deposits cause the accelerator pedal to require increased effort to push the pedal accelerator down (sticky pedal). Being the only owner of this vehicle, I already had to clean the throttle-body 3 times. This defect was recognized and settled by Nissan corp in class action in 2003, please see the copy of the first page of settlement letter enclosed. My dealership, rothrock, in allentown PA cleaned the throttle for the last, 3rd time in December 2003 at no charge, please see the copy of invoice enclosed. The throttle needs to be cleaned again. My latest discussion with Nissan rep, erica, 1-800-647-7261 ext 57741, file n 5812745 was on 8/10/07. Nissan refuses to clean at Nissan's expense explaining that a diagnosis must be performed first for $70. 00 per hour. I consider this Nissan?s offer as a deceptive way to avoid the responsibility to fix the Nissan's defect at no charge to me.

Nissan Quest 2004 rock plate, which guards the engine had almost completely detached. It was only being held by a plastic screw.

Nissan Quest 1999 started having severe engine problems as 50,000 miles and just 5 years of use. The vehicle is simmilar to Ford windstar and Mercury villages and was manufactured in one of their plants. Ford has issued many recalls to address these issues. Nissan is has denied any problems with the vevicles.
