The cars passenger airbag light will stay illuminated as off when no one or nothing is in the seat. This light should go off within 7 seconds of the car turning on. And when an adult passenger of adequate size gets in the seat it may or may not remain off. This means that the airbag may not deploy if needed because the OCS sensor is not properly registering the weight of the passenger. The passenger seatbelt light will also remain on after a passenger exits the vehicle as if someone is still seating there and needs to apply the seatbelt. Another fault of the OCS sensor. The car has been stationary and in motion when this occurs. This is a major safety issue. I have contacted Nissan and been told that my car is out of warranty and there is nothing they can do at this time. Other Rogue model years and Nissans in general have been recalled for this same issue yet nothing has been done for the 2013 Rogue. I was told that I need a new seat at a value of $2600-$3000. This is clearly a Nissan issue not a customer issue. It needs to be recalled and fixed. T.

During vehicle inspection, Nissan dealership diagnosed problem with flashing passenger side airbag. Technician found dtc p1564, b0001, b0002 and recommended replacing airbag module and spiral cable. During multiple conversations with Nissan consumer affairs, manufacturer is denying responsibility for defect of factory install issue. Supervisor lindsay appeared to link lack of responsibility to drive train, as if standard is that safety is no longer a concern if vehicle 5 years old has travelled 100,000 miles despite airbag never being deployed. This is not a 'wear and tear' issue and Nissan is refusing to considered that this VIN was missed in recall announced previously. Seeking repair to be covered by Nissan and managed by local dealership. Thank you.

On 11/21/2020 at 5:30 pm, we had a car crash on a highway I-495 (capital beltway, MD), we were in our car (I, my wife, 2 kids), we noticed a sudden stop by many cars ahead of us in the same lane we were in (left lane), I pressed my brake and been able to avoid reaching the car ahead of me but unfortunately, the car behind me was very fast with no control in their brake thus, she hit my car from the rear and pushed me to hit the front car. After we stopped, I went out to notice that 9 cars were involved in the crash. Although it was a big and hard accident, my car's airbags didn't deploy, however, it did open in most of the other cars. Due to the nondeployment of the airbag, we had a lot of body pains, whiplashes, and my son was hit in his head (I have an emergency initial diagnostic report from the hospital). In addition, my car experienced huge damages from back and front, and eventually, it had been totally unfixable according to the inspection from the collision technician. I had contacted the car manufacturer (Nissan) to open a case, but they didn't consider the risk that we exposed by not deploying the airbags and they ignore that they are having any problems regarding this issue and they justified this incident by saying that as long as the car been hit by the rear the airbag will not be deployed regardless of the hit strength.

When parking at friends house with steep slopping yard could not get car stopped prior to hitting tree stump. Impact was front bumper right of center. Airbag on passenger side deployed but fail to keep passenger from hitting and cutting top of head on sun visor and wind shield resulting in 25 staples to top of head. When bag deployed it never went higher than where it came out of dash then instantly fell towards floor. Driver side air bag did not deploy causing drivers chest to strike steering wheel, only sore chest resulted. Concerns are passenger airbag not deploying properly and drivers airbag not deploying at all.

Passenger airbag sensor blinks due to a malfunction. Cost to fix is $3k due to having to replace the passenger seat where the sensor is, which is half the value of the vehicle. This has been blinking for the past year and is extremely distracting and dangerous while driving. Not sure if this means that the passenger airbag will not deploy, which is *extremely* dangerous. Additionally, when traveling, the vehicle often loses acceleration, even with the gas pedal all the way down. It becomes extremely difficult and dangerous to stop or turn. The steering wheel loses power steering, and the brakes do not engage quickly at all.

The airbags will not deploy on the passenger side of the car because of an air bag seat fault in the 2009 Rogue cars. The 2008 and 2010 Rogue models had the same problem but a recall was enforced on it. Nissan admitted the 2009 seat sensor was made by the same company but it was a VIN problem. Found on your site affected VIN numbers all start with jn8as58 including mine. We are all having this dangerous problem of the air bags being shut off automatically. Nissan wants 2000 dollars to repair the problem. This problem also passes the safety part of a nys vehicle inspection. I though air bags were put in the car to save lives, but is not considered a safety issue them not deploying. Please push for a recall before someone dies.

2011 Nissan rouge: the passenger air bag light that indicates the passenger airbag is not active illuminates with an adult seating in the passenger seat. The red airbag warning light on the dashboard cluster flashes. The dealer where I purchased the car states that the airbag will not deploy in a crash. The dealer wants to charge me thousands of dollars to repair this because the car is out of warranty. A web search will find many many Nissan cars with this problem. People have been hurt and killed due to Nissan cars failure to deploy the airbag. The car is unsellable and unsafe. The govermment should require Nissan to fix this problem without cost to the car owner before more people are hurt and killed.
Yes got into a really bad car accident and the airbags did not deploy only ones that deployed were the side ones on the driver and passenger doors.

I was making a left hand turn when another driver hit me. My entire front end is destroyed and the airbags never deployed. My husband and I both suffered head injuries due to the airbags not deploying.
Blinking airbag light on dashboard. Took it to the dealer they charged $115 for inspection and said that passenger seat cushion needs to be changed which has OCS sensor built in, which would cost additional $1965. This is a common problem with all Nissan Rogue 2009 and the company must recall to resolve this as if the airbags do not deploy in case of accident it could cause serious injuries or death.
Major accident, swerved to avoid a deer and hit a pole. The airbag did not deploy. I was buckled and seat belt did not get. My head hit the windshield, requiring 8 staples in my head. Had the airbag deployed, I would not have had injuries to the extent I did.

I was driving a rental vehicle, 2019 Nissan Rogue, 65 mph and when I applied the brakes they failed, causing me to go across the intersection, through a fence, into a ditch. The front end was totaled. The airbags did not deploy. The 4 wheel drive took over and the car pulled itself out of the ditch eventually stopping in a field just prior to going over and embankment and into a river. According to the police officer that arrived at the scene, the brakes of the vehicle were pressed all the way to the floor of the vehicle, although he did not enter this into the written report. He did verbalize that to me on the phone the day following the accident. There were no skid marks on the road indicating that the vehicle tried to stop. I was going the speed limit of 65 mph. I sustained 2 fractures of my back, a concussion and a large laceration of my forehead. The vehicle is currently in storage and has not been inspected, yet. The computer of this vehicle took over and drove itself. I was taken to a nearby trauma center and admitted for 2 days.

Brakes did not engage when braking. Was in bumper to bumper traffic let car in front of me to go a 1. 5 car lengths before I took foot of the brake never hit the gas coasted until I was 1/2 a car length from the car in front of me and went to hit the brakes again and it did not engage causing me to hit the back of the vehicle in front of me. Meanwhile the airbags did not deploy even though impact speed was 2 mph I believe the airbags should have gone off with how far the hood got smashed.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. While driving 3 mph and making a left turn, the contact's vehicle was struck on the passenger side by another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained an injury on her left hand that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. It was unknown if the vehicle was destroyed. My daughter was at a traffic light behind a Jeep. The cars began to drive forward after the light turned green. As they were speeding up, the vehicle in front of her slammed on his brakes and the Rogue did not stop and ran into the Jeep. I leased this car for safety features that did not do what they are advertised to to do. Forward emergency braking did not activate, no audible alerts, and air bags did not deploy. My daughter hit a vehicle in front of her and caused about $8,000 in damage.
Airbag malfunction light is on, dealership tells me they don't know what it means, just that it should be replaced. Could mean that my airbag will not deploy, could mean that it will deploy randomly. My warranty did not cover it, Nissan will not fix it. It is $1300 and I have another huge problem with my car: my transmission is going out for the second time and my car is at 102,000 miles. Warranty covered it the first time, just ended in July and I am told that Nissan only covers new transmissions for 1 year or 12,000 miles. This car is a lemon. A transmission should not go out twice in 100,000 miles. An airbag malfunction should be covered, this is my safety.

Issue with the front passenger seat on a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The issue is that a full-size adult (150 and 240 pounds) can be in the seat the passenger airbag indicator indicates the front passenger airbag is off. There is no airbag warning light on the dash. I've taken it to the Nissan dealership several times and the computer and airbag system has been flashed, but did not fix the problem. Since then the dealship has pushed me off, even with photos and evidence of this happening. I have threaten them with a lawsuit because they will not look further in to it, if the airbag does not deploy when a full-size adult is in the seat. I will be taking the vehicle to a different dealership this week, because this issue is continue to happen. I am currently an pursuing an electrical engineering degree at the university of south carolina and will continue to use their resources to I find someone who will resolve the issue. The only resolution for this issue, when it happens, is to park the car and turn it off, let it sit, and turn the car back on to see if the airbag light is on or not. The car has currently 43,068 miles and is still under warranty. Also all recalls and maintenance is completed at a Nissan dealership. I've also had issues with seat belt light in the dash says that someone is un-buckled while everyone in the vehicle is actually bucckled, and has been buckled.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle crashed into a deer. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and then to an independent mechanic. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
My 2008 Nissan has 54000 miles on it. I had an passenger air bag light off OCS codeb1018 occupant sensor unit malfunction and looking up on it Nissan have a massive recall on this issue all the way to 2017 vehicles. Basically, if the passenger is less then 150lbs the air bag should not deploy as per Nissan but with the sensor being fail air bag will not deploy at all even in a major accident. This leaves the passenger wide open for injury. I called the Nissan customer service and it seems they are not concerned at all. They want to only treat this if the VIN is under recall and not if it's not under recall. I believe it's a liability and major safety concern. Nissan should be worried about every vehicle and not just the one they are calling. I don't understand the robotic mentality either you worry about safety or you don't. You can't have both ways. Their customer service terrible not another Nissan product and I will tell others to steer clear. Sadly if it was a vacuum cleaner I would've got new one by the manufacturer by now. It's the cost of repair Nissan trying to wing it. Entire seat need to be replaced due this concern and the cost is upward of 2000 dollars and Nissan is aware. So it's never about safety is it? (otc scanner only one code) see picture. I believe since its a safety hazard Nissan should check this code at their dealership free of charge and repair this issue free of charge. They need to own up to their on going problem up until 2017.
