While driving, I swerved slightly to avoid a dog and went into a shallow ditch less than one foot deep. There was no collision, no structural damage, and no repairs needed to the vehicle. Despite the extremely minor impact, both airbags deployed unexpectedly. This deployment was violent and occurred without a qualifying crash. I believe this indicates a faulty airbag sensor, airbag control module malfunction, or other defect in the airbag system.

I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The air bag light came on, blinking red around 3 weeks ago. It has been red blinking continuously whenever the vehicle is on since then. I brought the car to my local auto repair shop to check it. They hooked up to it and discovered the issue. They said the code was b1018 (OCS), air bag. . . They gave me a recall notice that detailed the issue, and said that the dealership would repair this for free. The NHTSA #/campaign id# says it includes b8242 (murano, Rogue, 350z). I made an appointment at my local Nissan dealership (advantage Nissan in bremerton, wa), and when I went in there they said there are no open recalls and I spent five hours in there. They said they tested passenger side seat airbags and they do not work, but here are two options. . . One is not an option, because we didn't find a whole new seat, but we found another option- take the airbag system out of a seat and put it in yours for $884. 98. That's your option. You pay. (or a new seat would be over $5000, but we can't find one because they don't make them anymore. ) I purchased this vehicle in 2019. I haven't gotten any notices about this. This is a safety issue. I can not drive with a passenger in the car. The cost of this issue should be covered- it was a viable recall.

The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated she was involved in a crash, stated she was going 30 mph, when suddenly a parked vehicle back out and t-boned the right side of the straight down the middle almost causing the vehicle to flip over. The vehicle rolled a bit forward after the collison. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was drivable although damage was moderate. No warning light's were illuminated. A police report was filed. Three passengers were injured, the driver, the front passenger, and the back passenger. The driver sustained injures to the neck and shoulders, complains of sourness on her back, the front passenger sustained a injury on his right shoulder, and the back passenger sustained a injury on the right side of her ear and head. Medical treatment was provided for all injured parties. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 101,000.
The passenger side roof is leaking water. It’s leaks through the roof and through the headliner. The water leaks onto the passenger curtain airbag before it leaks onto the headliner. It’s on the pass side between the sunroof and the passenger door of the car and on the a pillar. Worried it will affect airbag or make the roof moldy. It’s hard to see in photos but easy to see in person.
My vehicle is included in the correct year range and shows the same symptoms as NHTSA id number: 16v911000. The airbag light is also on and I am worried that it will not operate properly in an accident. I contacted the local Nissan dealer and they said there were no recalls on this vehicle. They also told me that no recalls had been completed on my vehicle. I am concerned that they either missed some vins in the recall or that they have incorrect information. Nissan was not willing to help, I also contacted their consumer affairs.

I told the dealership that there were recalls on my car, but because they can’t find it in the system they’re saying that there are no recalls. I did check the NHTSA website and the recalls are still not showing up, but aaa has me down for five recalls. I have all the information on them. I would like the dealership to at least look into them because I don’t feel safe driving my car. .

The contact owned a 2025 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at 65 mph on an interstate, the vehicle was struck by a drunk driver at a high rate of speed approximately 75-80 mph, causing a secondary collision with a semi-trailer. The back bumper was damaged, the rear window was shattered, the passenger side was smashed in, driver's side door frame was separated from the body of the vehicle. The vehicle came to a complete stop in the middle of the interstate. Despite the catastrophic nature of the accident and the significant impact forces, none of the ten air bags deployed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. A police report was filed. The vehicle was rendered inoperable and was subsequently declared a total loss. The driver sustained minor soreness injuries and received medical attention via ambulance. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,100.

My 2013 Nissan rouge looses power and makes a jarring noise immediately after stopping at every stop when I accelerate it suddenly losses almost all power its already caused a crash I got hit right after take off because its immediate deceleration.
My husband and I were in a head on and sustained injuries to my neck, chest abdomen, and knees. Neither the driver nor the passenger airbags went off during the accident. No lights were present no warning, lights or messages prior to the accident and we were both wearing our seatbelts. I received significant whiplash, bruising, and injuries confirmed by x-rays and feel that the airbags not going off in this collision only made it worse.
A water intrusion issue developed originating from the roof/moonroof area of the vehicle. The problem was initially diagnosed by an authorized dealership as a failure in the moonroof drain system, and the drain tubes were replaced. The repair was completed and marked as resolved. However, the leak continued after the repair. Upon further inspection, the dealership identified the source of the leak as the moonroof rubber seal and recommended replacement of the seal assembly. Water intrusion is entering the headliner and traveling into the upper a-pillar area. This area contains curtain airbag components and associated electrical systems. The presence of moisture in this location raises concern about potential impact to airbag functionality and overall vehicle safety. There were no warning lights or system messages prior to or during the occurrence of this issue. The failure presents as visible water intrusion, including wet headliner material and moisture accumulation near the a-pillar. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by an authorized dealership. The initial repair attempt did not resolve the problem, and the condition remains present. The affected components (drain system and seal area) are available for inspection upon request.
The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the passenger’s side air bag warning illuminated even though the passenger’s side seat was not occupied and remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two dealers, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the passenger’s side seat module and two sensors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
I was stationary at a red light, and car traveling behind me at full speed (approximately 50-60 mph) did not stop and crashed into my car (rear-ending me). My airbags did not deploy: not even the side airbags, even though the trunk was crashed/pushed up into the middle of the car, damaging the side supports between the front and back seats. Also, the driver's seat reclined fully upon impact! this car has electric adjustable seats, so the seat has a mechanized gear that faulted.
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, the airbag warning light illuminated. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership in texas for diagnosis. The technician confirmed that the airbag fault was present before the vehicle was sold to me. According to the diagnostic records, the selling dealer (kelly Nissan in oak lawn, illinois) had previously scanned the airbag system, identified an airbag fault code, cleared the code without performing the repair, and then proceeded to sell the vehicle. This means the airbag defect existed at the time of sale and was intentionally or negligently undisclosed. The system continues to show a malfunction indicator, and the clay cooley Nissan dealership in richardson, texas identified the issue as an electrical airbag system failure requiring a repair estimated at $2,304. 15. This defect affects the supplemental restraint system (srs), which may result airbags failing to deploy during a crash improper deployment increased risk of injury or death the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition. The selling dealer refuses to authorize repair outside illinois, leaving me with an unsafe vehicle that cannot be feasibly transported. Nissan corporate states this is the dealer's responsibility and will not intervene. Given that this defect relates directly to the federally regulated airbag safety system, I am requesting NHTSA’s investigation into whether this represents a broader issue of airbag system defects or improper clearing of airbag fault codes prior to sale by the dealer.
The airbag light comes on for no reasons and after spending the money to test it, the mechanics suggested multiple defects (clock spring, module, etc). There is no hit or anything and yet it just becomes faulty.
Was traveling down the road the curtain air bags deployed and filled car with smoke so badly driver couldn’t see and caused him to wreck in a creek it totaled the vehicle and progressive insurance had CO-part to pick it up there was no warning that the air bags were going to deploy.
This is a known issue for the 2015 Rogue and a huge safety problem. Nissan needs to issue a recall.
I have gotten an email notification about my airbags system stating it wasn’t working properly.
I was in a head on collision going 55-60mph with no airbags deployed. Car started a dripping fire. I have seatbelt lacerations starting from collarbone/neck area cross my chest, breast and right side ribs including deep bruising on lower abdomen and pelvic area. Police would not let me in my car bc air bags could potentially go off at any time but car made it to the tow-yard still without airbags going off. No warning or recalls sent to me since I bought the car in may of 2022.
Upon starting the car the airbag, seatbelt light came on and will not go off.
My side airbags deployed unexpectedly and without impact while riving down the street. I was in my neighborhood, close to my home, and suddenly the passenger side airbags deployed. The car shut down immediately. There is no impact to the side of the car and no dents (pics attached) I have a "malfunction" error on my screen. I don't know why this happened. My safety was at risk because if I was on the highway and this happened, it would've caused an accident. Also, I have just dropped off my child. If this happened 15mins sooner she would've been injured.
What happened: the vehicle is a 2023 Nissan Rogue (VIN: [xxx] ). The engine failed twice: the first failure required major repairs, and the second resulted in complete engine shutdown. These issues are not related to the prior u. S. Accident, which only affected the driver-side airbag. The engine and all critical systems were fully functional upon delivery and can be inspected upon request. The second failure occurred while traveling with my family in a remote desert area from baghdad to ramadi, putting our safety at serious risk and causing extreme fear and panic for my wife and [xxx] child. The problem recurred and was confirmed by local service centers during the first repair. There were no warning lights or prior symptoms before the sudden engine stoppage; the failure happened unexpectedly during normal use. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
A light on my car's dashboard started flashing, indicating a problem with the airbag. This started after two days of not driving.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving on highway I-10 at 65 mph, there was an extremely loud popping sound coming from the vehicle. The contact immediately pulled over, assuming there was a failure with the tire. Upon further investigation with her parents, it was determined that the tires were intact, and the abnormal sound came from the side air bag deploying unintendedly. Additionally, the seat belt seized. The vehicle was towed to the local Nissan dealer, where it was diagnosed with an erroneous rollover detection by the crash sensor, which triggered the deployment of the side air bags. The crash sensor detected a rollover, causing the side airbag to deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a case, and informed the contact that a response would be provided later. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle's rear passenger wheel frame failed and detached from the vehicle, and the vehicle merged independently into a ditch. The contact stated that no air bags were deployed. The contact stated that she did not sustain any injuries. No medical attention was required. The contact stated that a police report was not filed. The contact stated that the failure was not diagnosed by a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was towed to a Nissan dealer, and they informed the contact that she was responsible. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
During a recent trip I noticed a "fluttering/rattling" noise coming from the top of the windshield of our 2021 Nissan Rogue platinum. The noise was very noticeable at interstate highway speed and on rougher road surfaces. While looking for the source of noise I found staining on the driver side headliner and interior front pillar garnish. Took Rogue to dealer and was told that the seal for the attachment clips for the roof rack were leaking into the interior. Leakage had damaged headliner and gotten into the airbag. The roof racks would have to be removed and sealed and the entire headliner, front pillar garnish, and the airbag replaced. The total repair would cost approximately $4,000. 00. Since the Rogue was 45 months old with 20,500 miles it was out of warranty due to its age. The dealer told me that I would be responsible for the cost to repair it since it was out of warranty. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs to see if they would cover the cost since the leak was caused by a design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan agreed to pay 90% of the repair but I would be responsible for the remaining 10% (approximately $400. 00). I told them this was unacceptable and that Nissan should be responsible for the entire cost of the repair. Nissan has refused my requests to cover the full cost of repair. An internet search revealed that Nissan was aware of the defect and had issued a service bulletin (ntb21-097, dated 10/20/21), which was a few months before we purchased the vehicle. Since the leak can allow water to damage the airbag it is a serious safety issue. The airbag may not deploy properly during an accident or could suddenly deploy for no reason and cause a crash. Nissan should take full responsibility and pay the full amount for the repair since it is a known design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan should issue a recall for affected vehicles.
Air bag light flashing and tire pressure light stays on.
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where a diagnostic test was performed. The contact was informed that a module located underneath the passenger’s seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The driver's side curtain airbags deployed prematurely while shutting the driver's side door.
