I turned on my Nissan Rogue 2024. The moment I hit this on button I heard a loud bang and my back windshield had completely shattered. I immediately called the dealership I bought it from beau townsend Nissan because I knew I had paid for security plus gold preferred and ultimate platinum protection and wanted to know what to do. The dealership gave me the number to customer care, then customer care said it’s not covered under extended warranty and gave me another number, and after talking to various people I ended up back with the dealership begging for help. They said OH it definitely would not be covered. This incident posed risks as there was no warning anything would happen. Much of the glass shattered into the trunk in small crevices and I have children. The glass sprayed across the driveway where it can get in tired if a shard is missed. I had to leave my car with a huge hole outside in my neighborhood where there has been convicted theft.

The back window randomly exploded while I was taking my children to school and there are multiple complaints of the same issue but Nissan hasn’t issued a recall yet. My children could have been cut or injured yet I am somehow responsible for a window exploding on its own all because I used the defoggers. That is not safe at all.
June 2025 rear door locks stopped working. (odometer 12,538) I was unable to lock/unlock doors with key fob or with inside driver's door lock/unlock button. Repaired 06/10/2025 at mentor Nissan, 44060, by replacement of parts #82500-6r0b & 82501-6r0b: controller-lock in both rear doors. Incident #2: Feb 2026 front driver-side door lock became inoperable, the same as had occurred with the rear door locks. I'm at Nissan mentor today (02/17/2026) for evaluation & repair. (odometer 15,200) both of these door lock issues resulted in inability to enter/exit vehicle. Very dangerous if someone were unable to exit vehicle in emergency. Otherwise a big inconvenience requiring one to climb over other seats to enter/exit vehicle. The car is under extended warranty. June 2025 I paid $100 deductible plus tax & fee, totaling $110. 21. Today's repair cost to be determined. In each incident there were no warning lamps or messages. Both issues began with intermittent lock/unlock failure, then escalated to complete failure within 2-3 weeks. This has caused several inconveniences of not being able to enter the vehicle through the effected doors. And now the second incident again requires waiting for repair. In the first instance with rear door there was a wait of several weeks for the needed replacement parts. I anticipate the same delay with the front door repair. As I write this I'm at mentor Nissan facility waiting for report from service department.

I went out and got in my 2025 Nissan roque in the garage. I opened the driver's side door, got in, closed the door and heard a loud explosion. My back window completely blew out! it was frightening! glass is all over inside the back of my car and behind it. I'm thankful no one was in that whole area! I called my insurance that day and they contacted safelite immediately and set up and appointment to have them come and replace it here in my garage, although it has taken 6 days. 6 days without a vehicle! I have since learned there is class action law suit on this ongoing matter.

Check engine light came on. I hooked it up to a machine and read a code p2101 which indicates. Throttle actuator controlled motor store current failure. I had told to Nissan they did an inspection came back that he cleaned the throttlebody charge me $1053 and sent me on my way and my check engine light keeps coming on and it’s a recall on this particular car with this particular problem, but my VIN number is not showing up.
I bought my Rogue August 2025, brand new. I am at home and my rear windshield has just busted out for no reason. It is 38 degrees today outside. I have not moved my vehicle at all today. For no reason, just sitting in driveway, it has busted. I looked up and it looks as if other Rogues are doing this. This is very dangerous. What if I had been driving the vehicle.
The rear back window shattered on its own without any impact or object interference.
While I was leaving a restaurant my back windshield spontaneously shattered in the middle of me driving it, I had the front and back heat on at the time it’s shattered, I am a first-time driver at the age of [xxx] , and I was extremely terrifying for my safety and other drivers safety while I drove my vehicle after the glass shattered out of nowhere due to no fault of my own, was worried about glass being thrown around in the vehicle, but got the vehicle home safely, I am now responsible for paying out-of-pocket for safelite to replace this back windshield, there were no warning signs it just shattered on its own! then I found that there was a class action suit against Nissan Rogue 2021-2025 saying that the back windshields are defective. We have colder weather, so we had normal ice and snow on the vehicle. I walked the backside of the vehicle to the driver side. I entered on the drivers side. I started the car and turned on the defrost, I then heard the cracking, which I assumed to be the ice. When I shut the driver door the back rear window shattered.
My rear view window shattered with no impact or anything to cause it. I was backing out of my garage rear end first, and it was a loud bam!.
[xxx]- I have a 2024 Nissan Rogue. My car was parked in my garage. Once I pushed the button to start, the back window exploded! broken glass everywhere. I was the only one in the car. My car has a little over 18,000 miles, and I cannot afford to get it fixed. I have insurance with a $1,000 deductible. I spoke with a dealership in auburn, alabama (this is where I live). I emailed pictures, and I am presently waiting for a reply. I have requested that Nissan fix this issue free of charge. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Rear window exploded while parked in garage. I used safelite to repair. No warning, the garage was 45 degrees and had been parked for at least 4 hours. Picture attached.
The transmission blew in 2023. I purchased the vehicle from fox Ford (first mistake) and they sent me to the local Nissan dealer to fix it. It was covered under dealer warranty at the time. Fast forward to 1/30/26. My car is fully paid off and I’m driving home from work with my daughter in the backseat and, my worst nightmare occurred; the transmission blew again! the only reason I purchased this vehicle in the first place by the way is because a police officer ran a red light in 2020 and smucked us and didn’t have a single repercussion but, I digress. Anyway, I was able to pull into the median on the highway (luckily I was able to get there and not have the car die in the middle of the highway lane) and call 911 for support. My car was towed to riverside where it still sits. I don’t have any updated paperwork because Nissan is indicating it’s not covered under warranty even though this is a known issue with Rogues and clearly already an immediate issue to me because it had been fixed previously in this particular vehicle. I would like this safety issue to be known as well as the fact that instead of the dealership and Nissan as a company caring or trying to help me in this process, they’ve had me go on a wild goose chase and the saga continues. I simply want the issue to be fixed and justice to be served so that hundreds of thousands of other families don’t have to suffer. Luckily my husband was able to rearrange his schedule and assist with transportation until I begrudgingly was able to purchase a new vehicle but, many individuals do not have that privilege. What a shame that money is cared about more than human lives.

Rear window shattered when my wife closed the drivers door.
I have taken my vehicle in 2 or 3 separate times since June 2025 to get this recall done, and gwinnett place Nissan keeps making excuses as to why they cannot do the recall for me. Now my vehicle is on the side of the road broken down because they failed to complete my recall multiple times.
Rear window shattered for no reason while parked in the driveway, Nissan said not covered under warranty had to go thru my insuarance CO.
Car was parked in indoor parking garage, I opened driver’s door and heard a crash. The rear window had shattered. Luckily I was not driving at the time, this could have potentially caused a very dangerous situation. Nissan consumer affairs stated no recall and refused to cover the repair.
As I was parked for about 10 minutes sitting and not moving, the rear windshield spontaneously imploded.
Rear windshield exploded without anything to promote this. There was not any rocks or pebbles that hit it, the glass just shattered.
Rear hatch window on my wife's 2023 Nissan Rogue shattered while parked inside of or residential garage. Damage happened between the hours of 12am and 7am this date. Vehicle was stationary and not in motion. Temperature of garage was 46 degrees as shown on our garage door opener panel. As per an internet search, this is an ongoing problem with the 2012 to 2025 Nissan Rogue. I attempted to contact Nissan north America on this date but their offices are closed until Monday January 26, 2026. Dealership stated this date that they do not repair windows and did not state this has been a problem with the Rogue vehicle. Vehicle is not driven that much and as of this complaint on has 6,768 miles on the odometer.
Rear window exploded while vehicle parked.
Rear window exploded sending glass 10' out and then 4 to 5 feet inside the vehicle. Defroster had been turned off about 15 minutes prior. Was starting to backout of parking spot when an explosion of glass flew in/out of vehicle then hissing sounds, ending with sound of glass falling.
Back glass exploded when driver door was shut. Upon further research, this is a reoccurring problem with most Nissan Rogue models.
On January 22, 2026, my husband and I were sitting in the parked vehicle, which was rented from thrifty rental, and the rear window spontaneously exploded into a million pieces. We have since learned that there is a federal lawsuit and hundreds of complaints against Nissan for this exact issue. We consider ourselves lucky that the car was not moving as there could have been bodily injury or an accident.
I rented this car and the moment I started the ignition the back window spontaneously spilling glass all in the back and on my garage floor. Unfortunately the rental company is declaring this my fault and will be held financially liable.
On, January 16, 2026, the rear windshield spontaneously exploded as we were entering our vehicle.
Back window glass exploded into car and onto garage floor. Had just started car and put in reverse when loud explosion occurred and stopped the car to inspect. Found entire back window shattered and pieces resting inside car trunk, rear seats, and garage floor. Insurer had safelite come to replace the window but technician could not complete the replacement since the black plastic wiper motor plastic assembly was cracked. Just found a new motor assembly at Nissan dealer (capitol in wilmington, nc) and purchased out of pocket for $380. 68 after negotiating a reduction of $200 with the dealer. Also, have a $250 deductible and safelite charge for new wiper arm and blade $47.
The passenger side of my 2018 Rogue door lock actuator failed last year. I am unable to enter through my front passenger door. Earlier this year (2026) the driver side door lock actuator also failed, often leaving me locked out from both sides. I have to leave the door unlocked to ensure I can get into/out of my car.

Back windshield spontaneously shattered while parked with no damage or external forces that could of caused this.
My back windshield shattered while driving at 25 miles an hour with no other cars around me. Sounded like a gunshot.
The back window spontaneously shattered while the vehicle was idling in the driveway. It appears to have cracked aound the edges and left a softball sized hole in the window.
Upon entering drivers side front door and closing door the rear hatchback window glass shattered falling inside and outside on driveway.
Back window glass spontaneously exploded. There was only a temperature difference of around 20 degrees, nothing crazy and the back window exploided out.
The rear windshield in the liftgate shattered while parked in front of my apartment without any possible object that might cause the breaking of the glass. Currently there are still some shattered glass inside the liftgate which the Nissan and autoglass company can't totally remove and sometimes causes me some headache because the liftgate won't open.
My rear window exploded while parked and powered off. Absolutely nothing hit it in any way. I was just reaching for the handle to get out of the car when it happened. Please note I’ve only owned this vehicle for two weeks now. This happened one week after purchase. Warranty did not cover rear glass. I paid out of pocket for replacement. (I have receipts) I have found that in the 2 weeks of owning this vehicle that this has happened to many Nissan Rogue owners.
