1 Steering problem of the 2009 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 06/14/2026

This winter a crack in the seal opened up on the driver's side wheel well. We were not aware of the crack. We noticed that the car was collecting water in the carpets down on the floor board. The water became increasingly worse over time down on the floor of the car. We tried looking for leaks and drying out the car with towels. We could not find the leaks. We tried to dry the car out as much as possible, yet, every time my soon drove the car to school at everett washington community college the water became increasingly worse down on the floor of the car. So, my son stopped driving the car for a couple of months. So, I bought the car from my son. He got a different car. I tried to start the car last Sunday at 3pm in the afternoon. Flames started down on the carpet directly below the pedals. Black, dark smoke billowed out from below the steering column. I ran into my kitchen to put out the flames. The battery is damaged too. The battery is leaking acid out of the side and bulging on one side. I took it to the dealership. To see if it could be repaired.

6 Steering problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/23/2026

While making a left turn at approximately 10 mph in light snow conditions, braking became severely impaired with pedal pressure present but vehicle failing to decelerate, and steering became significantly resistant and insufficient to redirect the vehicle away from the obstacle. Vehicle continued toward a tree despite brake pedal input and steering input away from the tree. Slippery road warning light activated before and during the incident. Multiple additional warning lights activated during and after impact. Airbags did not deploy despite collision. Post-incident, steering required significant opposite steering input to drive straight for approximately 1. 7 miles to reach a safe parking location, consistent with front-end damage affecting steering alignment. Prior to this incident, I experienced multiple separate occasions where braking felt abnormal and insufficient in conditions requiring higher traction including rain and snow. I verbally reported this concern once to an authorized Nissan dealer in December 2025 and was told this was normal aeb system behavior. No documentation was created for this verbal complaint. Vehicle had a prior manufacturer recall performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on June 1, 2024 reconfiguring the ipdm/usm — the module controlling electronic steering column lock and can bus safety system communications. At that same visit, the Nissan technician documented abnormally dirty brake fluid at only 14,410 miles on this 2023 vehicle. A second manufacturer recall reprogramming the ecm was performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on December 4, 2025, approximately two months before this incident. The vehicle is available for inspection. No independent or dealer post-incident inspection has occurred. An insurance claim has been opened. Incident occurred within the 3-year/36,000-mile manufacturer warranty period at under 31,000 miles.

7 Steering problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/21/2026

I was in my 2021 Nissan Rogue and just turned right down the street from my in-laws home ( out of state in indiana) when the vehicle violently jerked to the right and I was unable to control it and sent me into a ditch. My speed was 14mph when this happened. I managed to get it up on the road and inspected it. I found the right front rim broke, the lower control arm broke, and inner tie rod bent, as well as body damage to the fender and bumper. The tpms light and the forward collision light is on at the dash. I reported it to my insurance company. I managed to put the spare on and get it into my in-laws driveway. It will need towed to get repaired. The vehicle can be inspected where it is at. No warning lights before for this incident happened. I’m very greatful this didn’t happen on the interstate with my family in the vehicle.

8 Steering problem of the 2026 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/30/2026

I have versa Nissan recall 2008 and never fixed the airbag recall. On January 30, 2026, Nissan dealer selling me a SUV Nissan roque 2026, after I changed oil, I tried driving the SUV Nissan roque, the steering wheel kind loose and easy turning left and right uncontrolled. The door has cosmetic paint that I decided to return bc of unsafe performance and movement of the SUV. I check the VIN, the car in recall status unrepaired but Nissan dealer consider brand new.

9 Steering problem of the 2019 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/20/2026

While driving the automatic brake stopped the car while turning in a curve. However in another incident I was cut off and brakes did not automatically stop. The brakes works when they want too. Not reliable or safe. Separately, the steering wheel randomly squeaks while turning. It doesn't do it often, every other month or so I will hear the speaking sound.

10 Steering problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/16/2026

On Friday 1/16/26 @ 9 am, my daughter was backing out her parking space to go to school. As she barely drove forward, the car just suddenly stopped. She got the apartment maintenance guy to take a look, and he said the steering rods were broken and the car needs to be tow. It was inside the parking lot and there was no major impact for it to be broken. Its a 2023 Rogue with only 45200 mileage on it, so the rods should last longer then that. Aaa towed the vehicle to Nissan dealership and dealership confirmed it was the inner/outer rod that needs to be replace. Dealership said it was likely due to a hard impact, but there was no impact at all in the parking lot. Car was sitting at the dealership waiting on parts for almost 3 months to have it repair. It was finally ready on Monday 4/6/26, and we were charge for $2275 and extra for battery that went dead sitting at their dealership for 3 months. This is obviously a safety concern that needs to be investigated. Lucky this happened in a parking lot. If this was on a main street or highway, it will cause a major accident.

11 Steering problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/10/2026

Event description - car began veering off the road to the left - driver attempted to correct the unintended maneuver, but the car increased in speed, despite braking - the car then lost all steering and braking capability, - in an attempt to control/stop the car, it instead proceeded uncontrollably performing a doughnut on the roadside embankment, and another doughnut that landed the vehicle back on the road, horizontally against oncoming traffic - the vehicle was then put in park, but the gear indicator, indicated that the car was still in drive - with foot on brake, the gear stick was shifted to the “drive” position, but the car went in reverse instead of forward - the vehicle was then completely turned off, and restarted. At that point, the vehicle proceeded as usual. - vehicle was then driven to a safe location.

12 Steering problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/08/2026

On the left side of the steering wheel there is a group of settings buttons with a pressure sensitive dial, called the ok button, that controls which menu you choose. The button no longer allows me to select a menu option because the depression sensor does not spring back. For instance, if I want to adjust the driver assistance options, I need use the ok button to scroll through the options to find the setting I want, then depress the ok button to select it. However, the ok button sticks with the slightest pressure instead of scrolling. This makes it impossible to change or adjust any of the safety features and there is no other option to manually adjust them. I am unable to turn on the blind spot warning and lane departure warning. I was trying to adjust the auto light settings, but I could not scroll to the correct option. My lights were stuck in the "off" mode which makes driving very dangerous.

13 Steering problem of the 2025 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

I was using the snow mode because there was a little bit of snow and ice on the road. I had been driving it that morning and did not have a problem until I turned in to my street. I turned right and the steering and brakes and accelerator all locked, leaving me where my car slid across the road and the left drivers side tire ran over the curb. I was not able to correct anything as everything locked. Even though I am okay and was going less than 5 mph while turning. I feel like the whole car's function to lock is unsafe as it left me to hope the curb would stop it. The car had to get towed and is now in the shop with $4,000 of damage to that tire and tire rods which I feel like could not have been prevented considering everything was locked and did not allow me to correct properly.

14 Steering problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 11/02/2025

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while pressing the control button on the steering wheel to change the clock time backwards, the button became stuck, activating and deactivating the steering assist and blind spot detection features. The contact was unable to turn off the steering assist and blind spot detection features. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,200.

15 Steering problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 10/24/2025

I was backing out of a parking garage and I had the steering wheel turned while I was reversing so I could exit the lot. I heard a pop and put the car in drive to move forward and the car would not move. Once I put the car in park and exited the vehicle I could see that the left tire was no longer attached to the steering column and that the tire rod had snapped dislodging the front left tire from the system.

16 Steering problem of the 2026 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 10/21/2025

The software for the prosystem is flawed. When using the "lane keeping" part of the software, the vehicle, during a curve, will go to the left or right solid or dotted line, as appropriate, and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet, then sharply turn and go to the opposite solid or dotted line and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet. The vehicle will then oscillate between the two line for up to one minute with the oscillations decreasing all the while. When driving in a straight line with either solid or dotted lines delineating the lane, the steering wheel will continues to oscillate to a minor degree. I have turned the system off and do not use it. I have returned the vehicle to the dealer, round rock Nissan, georgetown, TX for repair and was told the system is working correctly and do modifications are necessary. Opinion: in my opinion, the software for the prosystem is flawed causing the vehicle to be unsafe. The software need to be recalled, rewritten, real world tested extensively and reinstalled in all vehicles equipped with this software. This should be done immediately. I am aware of at least two other vehicles with the same issue. 17 Steering problem of the 2019 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

My 2019 Nissan Rogue sport is affected by recall 23v-093, related to the jackknife key potentially collapsing while driving and shutting off the vehicle. The only remedy currently offered is a spacer inserted into the key fob to permanently prevent the blade from folding. This disables the folding feature — a core function of the product — and turns a jackknife key into a permanently extended blade. I consider this an unacceptable fix. It does not restore the key’s intended design or function. No alternate solution (such as a properly redesigned or replacement fob) is offered. My dealer confirmed the “repair” is only the plastic spacer. Nissan consumer affairs escalated my case, but the call was dropped during transfer and I could not reach a resolution. I have not experienced a shutdown incident, but I am filing this complaint because the offered recall remedy removes a core feature and does not constitute a true repair. Nissan should be required to provide a fix that both eliminates the safety risk and restores original functionality.

18 Steering problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 09/19/2025

Vehicle slightly swaying from left to right while driving making it difficult to keep it in the middle of the lane. Also the steering wheel not quite on center making it even more difficult to keep it straight forward.

19 Steering problem of the 2015 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/29/2025

My car all of a sudden is having electrical issues. The radio is changing stations and volume all by itself. The steering wheel is getting hard to turn. The brake light fuse is burning out right away. I’ve replaced the fuse 3 times already in one week but it keeps burning out within 24hrs or less. My gages are going up and down fast motion. My battery all of a sudden is draining and it is brand new. I only have a little over 60,000. This is not normal at all and it is going to cause me to get in an accident.

22 Steering problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/14/2025

Buttons to scroll through dash menu sticking and not working due to spring issue. I noticed this was a common problem and make it difficult to go through the menu to check my tire pressure, manage my driver assistance such as emergency braking and blind spot, and any other systems related to setting up my driving experience.

23 Steering problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/13/2025

The contact owned a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the steering wheel pulled to the right independently and the steering wheel was vibrating abnormally. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact was informed by the tow truck driver that the steering column had split in half. No warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the tie rod had split in half due to a heavy impact. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and informed the contact that representative would provide a call back. The failure mileage was 60,000.

24 Steering problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 06/17/2025

Tie rod on passenger side of car broke after pulling out of driveway. Dealership mechanic stated the rods were previously bent which caused it to break. I biggest issue about this, the car was at the dealership 6/23/25 because the car went into limp mode and abe lights were coming in. They did a final inspection and did not report the tie rod was bent.

25 Steering problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/31/2025

I was driving. I hit nothing. My steering traction light comes on, and the car starts pulling to the right. I go in the shop. There is a bend in my passenger inner tie rod. I took it to the dealer. They keep trying to get me to say I had an accident. I did not. Now they want to charge me 3500 to replace the whole steering rack because they "can't just purchase the inner tie rod". Which they can. Many people are having the same problem with their tie rods being faulty on these cars.

26 Steering problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/02/2025

Buttons such as the selector wheel on the left side of the steering wheel stick and it keeps wanting to cycle through settings because of it. There is no way to pop it back out, and it remains stuck. From reading online many people have had this issue and the only thing Nissan will do is offer to supply you with a new steering wheel. One person has a 2023 and they are on their third or fourth steering wheel because of this issue and Nissan will do nothing to fix it. It is ridiculous that cars this now have this problem and people keep having to pay for out-of-pocket. We are shortly outside of our warranty and are stuck dealing with this now.

27 Steering problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/20/2025

The power steering failed while driving.

28 Steering problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/18/2025

There was no incident, just routine occurrences of the following that could lead to one: 1) the wipers do not clear the upper right (passenger) side of the windshield, creating a blind spot, which is especially dangerous when turning. Photo attached, though note this is a mild instance and visibility can be much worse. 2) the rearview camera has been blacking out while the car is in reverse. The black screen lasts about a second and is becoming more common, maybe once a day. 3) the power steering goes out occasionally, which I am strong enough to deal with, but would be difficult for my children (who also drive the car) to deal with.

29 Steering problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/21/2025

Passengers side inner tie rod end. With normal driving conditions and normal road conditions with bumps and holes bent. So much so the self driving system nor I could drive it without turning it hard left to try and keep it straight. I have pictures this tie rod end is much to small of a diameter to be in a position to carry the load of front drive and steering wheels. Normal road conditions today are much to rough for this.

30 Steering problem of the 2017 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/13/2025

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 30 mph just after a snowstorm, approaching an intersection, and attempting to slow the vehicle, the abs failed to prevent the brakes from locking, causing the vehicle to skid. As a result, the driver briefly lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and only came to a complete stop after colliding with a snowbank approximately 200 yards from the roadway. The contact also stated that at that same moment, his wife became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort in her attempt to regain control of the vehicle. The side curtain air bags were deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who had yet to provide a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact stated that he and his wife both sustained various injuries as a result of the failure: scratches, bruises, and burns possibly caused by the curtain airbag deployment. However, they did not immediately seek medical treatment but planned to at a later date. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 109,000.

31 Steering problem of the 2020 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/03/2025

My 2020 Nissan Rogue has 28,000 miles. It was purchased new in June 2021. I began hearing a knocking noise that seem to migrate around most areas of the car almost a year ago (early 2025). The Nissan dealership now tells me that all the bushings in the suspension/steering system are failing. When I looked online, and there are apparently thousands of this failure reported for the Nissan Rogue dating back to before 2018 models. This is widely reported a systemic problem with the nisan Rogue. It involves serious safety issues. How can it not be subject to recall?.

32 Steering problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

My vehicles tie rods broke on my way home from work while I pulled slowly onto a snowy road from my work driveway. I felt my car slide and tap the side of a curb, or so I thought. When I couldn't drive the vehicle I had to have it towed. The Nissan dealership I took it to said the damage, $9000, was caused by bumping into the curb. My insurance company did not agree with their repair amount and my vehicle was again towed to a nearby alternate dealership. After one month and half, my vehicle was repaired and I picked it up, only to find that the vehicle is intermittently vibrating and shaking. I believe this is the prelude for the same issue I had before. The break in the tie rods made me lose control of my vehicle. I have since seen tie rod recalls from Nissan and multiple complaints about the same issue. I am afraid for my safety while driving this vehicle. I contacted Nissan consumers complaints and they wanted me to wait for their 90 day investigation in order for them to take responsibility for anything, while I remained in a rental I had to pay for. This puts not only myself at a safety risk, but anyone who is driving with me or near me. I told that to consumers complaints. I don't want to see anyone else get hurt because of this issue. My vehicle is currently available for inspection. I am leasing it at $500 a month and am afraid to drive it.

33 Steering problem of the 2015 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/01/2024

After noticing my front tires are wearing on the outside much quicker thank n the rear tires, and I rotate them with every oil change, I noticed a clicking in the steering when making a hard left turn. My mechanic told me it's an issue with the steering rack and I saw that Nissan is looking into this and may issue a recall. So I wanted to add my name to the list of effected cars.
