Failure Date: 08/22/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph, the brakes had locked up and the rear passenger side brake began to make loud noises without warning. The contact had then coasted over to the emergency lane, exited the vehicle, performed a brief inspection and was unable to locate a problem. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer for a diagnosis and the mechanic stated that there was a spring that was corroded and fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the approximate failure mileage was 41,000. Gb.

2 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

Vehicle would start to make loud noise when braking, and then brakes would stop working altogether. The first few incidents in the past year because we were driving at slow speed we could coast to a stop. Turn off engine, and then turn back on. Problem went away until next incident. We just completed a factory repair costing just under $1400 and it was to replace a mechanism that was failing to deliver the signal, or fluid (I don't understand this very well enough technically) to make the brakes stop. The parts were over $600 and labor also over $600. While vehicle is 10 years old this type of problem seems to be a defect issue and not wear and tear. I've read that this is a reported issue with nhtsb so I wanted to file also.

4 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2008 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

I have had over a dozen instances while applying the brakes the break peddle would push to the floor and you would hear a loud noise as if the abs braking system was failing. You could feel it in the brake pedal and it frightens the heck out of you. I have taken it into my local premier Nissan in metairie, la and had the service department look at it, but they could not duplicate the problem and informed they could not help. I have had my family in the truck and it has happened with them and my 16 year old son has experienced it as well. This is a serious issue and I'm afraid one day it will fail and I will loose the ability to stop my vehicle. After each incident, I have to turn the truck off and restart it to stop the noise from coming from the abs break system. It is extremely dangerous that I have to turn my truck off while having a green light, on the interstate and any other dangerous situation. I wish I could get some clarity as to fixing this breaking issue.

5 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/27/2010

I drove about 20 feet when I heard a loud noise and realized I had fogot the parking brake on. I took it off and drove away. The next day I heard more noise and one of my rear brakes seemed to be dragging. I decided to take it to the dealer. On the highway, all hell broke loose with crazy noise and grinding, then it went away. This happened several times on the way to dealer. With my 4 year old daughter in the back seat I limped the car into the dealer with no emergency brakes working. Thankfully we were all okay and I did not loose control of the vehicle. The dealer said it would be at least $1,700 to fix it as the whole rear axle needed to be replaced due to the seals blowing out and leaking out all over the pads. I have not had any problem with this vehicle except for brakes, brakes and more brake issues. I think the e brake being on may have caused the seal to blow out then the axle and brakes just melted. Something is wrong with this vehicles brake design. If these seals are know to be bad by Nissan they should at least recommend replacing them so owners can protect themselves and avoid accidents,.

6 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/07/2009

2004 Nissan Titan crewcab sle -2 wheel drive. First time this has happened to me, coming to a stop sign I put on the brakes and all of a sudden I had no control of my brakes. Heard loud noises like the abs was kicking in and out as I applied the brakes harder to get the truck to stop. This continued until I got the truck home. After further research on the internet with Nissan Titan web forums I found that other people have with Titan's have experienced the same problems. From what I gather it sounds like it is the brake booster at fault. Also I found out that once you turn off the ignition the system resets itself and everything seems to be back to normal. I think Nissan needs to look into the brake booster problems that people are having and rectify the problem. Nissan wants $850 or more to replace the brake booster (truck out of warranty). Nissan needs to come clean and realize they have a problem with their Titan's brake booster.
