4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 05/10/2025

I am experiencing engine stalling. I have also experienced dome light flickers or not turning on on occasion along with radio and phone charge connection not always working, like a short of some sort. Also the mirror button allowing the driver and passenger side mirrors to open close sometimes fails as if wiring is ok sometimes and other times not there is not an exact date for the issues as they have occurred on and off since 2019 I did take the truck into Nissan 11/2023 as the radio blacked out and would not turn on. I was told the main harness had a shorted out wire and a jumper wire should be installed. Nissan installed a jumper wire for the radio. Occasional flickering lights, charging connections, mirror operations, and engine stalling still remained.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

I am submitting this complaint on behalf of the vehicle owner. On March 31, 2025 (136,962 miles), the vehicle was brought to fred anderson Nissan of [xxx] for voluntary emission recall pd128 (ntb24-061), which required a new particulate matter sensor and ecm reprogramming. One day later, the check engine light illuminated. On April 2, 2025 (137,083 miles), the dealer diagnosed code p2002-00 (dpf efficiency below specs). Repair order #xxx states: "the new sensor that is now monitoring dpf is able to see this and is setting the code as designed. " the dealer's own documentation confirms the fault code was triggered by the recall — not a pre-existing failure. The vehicle had no warning lights before the recall was performed. Nissan consumer affairs (case #xxx) declined goodwill assistance citing mileage, without addressing the documented causal link between the recall and the fault code. The owner now faces a dpf replacement costing several thousand dollars as a direct result of complying with a manufacturer recall. Safety concern: a dpf in confirmed fault condition can trigger unexpected limp mode, including at highway speeds. If other pd128 recipients are experiencing the same recall-induced fault and cannot absorb the repair cost, those vehicles may be operating in a compromised condition. We request NHTSA investigate whether recall pd128 is creating safety and repair liability for consumers who complied in good faith. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/13/2025

Received a recall for my vehicle. Recall was pd128. Took vehicle to dealer to have recall serviced on vehicle which was for a pm sensor and reprogram the emissions control module. After recall, def system error code and reduce speed to 5mph showed up on truck. Went back to dealer to explain issue after the recall. They ran codes and thought it could be the dpf filter or egr without thinking the recall could be to blame. Went to another mechanic and did a def system check and found no issue with system but a miscommunication with the nox sensor. Had nox sensor replaced and a week later had same def system error come on but was more intermittent and would clear on its own. Checked codes and found said miscommunication with the same nox sensor that was replaced. Went back to the original dealer to explain the issue and believe it was due to the recall reprogram. They did a diagnostic and spoke with their own techs and said their campaign recall repair revealed a concern that was present before but did not have detection sensor or the logic to determine the issue and recommends doc/dof to to replaced. Contacted Nissan about the issue and if replacement would be covered due to it being tied to the recall and was told no that it is just a coincidence even though their campaign revealed there was an issue with the recall.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/08/2025

Purchased a used 2017 Nissan Titan xd pro-4x 5. 0l diesel on 3/8/25. Left the dealership and only made it ~10 miles down the road before the check engine light came on and there was a loud knocking noise. Immediately turned around and went back to the dealership. After diagnosing it I was told it was a fuel injector and that they were replacing it. Received the truck back ~3/20/25. This truck is not my daily driver but the few times I have attempted to drive it the check engine light keeps coming on and I'm getting a message about the regen. On 5/28/25 I had the truck towed to my local Nissan dealership. They diagnosed it and although there is still a code for the same injector coming up they said the issue is the wiring harness and quoted me $7000 to repair and it's not covered under my powertrain warranty. After research it seems like this is a common issue in 2017-2019 Nissan Titan 5. 0l diesel trucks which will cause the crankshaft to break if not fixed. I am super frustrated that after less than 3 months of ownership I have an undrivable truck requiring thousands of dollars in repairs.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/22/2025

While driving my car would almost stall on the highway, if I gave it gas while merging onto the highway it doesn't respond and then almost stall, but then respond after 2 seconds when it was not as clear to merge on the highway. I have had to replace the battery twice and been stranded in the last 3 years, the engine would pretend to start but not kick over. I have seen that this is a common problem when looking into Nissan Titan forums.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/18/2025

Vehicle hesitates at acceleration. Also known as dead pedal. Going through an intersection, hit the gas pedal and nothing for 2-3 zeconds.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/13/2025

In July 2024 after having my bosch cp4 injector pump and fuel system replaced by my dealership due to the injector pump failure, I went around a corner and when I went to accelerate the truck wouldn't. After several moments and the truck just coasting down the road without any power it started to respond to the accelerator pedal. It did the same thing in November of 2024 while I was towing my travel trailer only this time, I had to stop in the middle of the road turn the truck off and back on before it would accelerate under its own power. Last Thursday January 9, 2025 the truck did it several times while I was driving it each time I had to roll off the road without any power, turn the truck off wait a few moments and turn the truck back on before I could drive it under its own power. I had not driven the truck since then but today it has done it twice with lost of power while driving in traffic! each time this has happen the check engine light has come on and I have check the codes with a code reader and it is always a "p226c turbocharger boost control 'a' slow response". And there will be as many as four different instances of the same code.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/08/2025

2016 Nissan Titan xd faulty number 8 injector this is the third time the trucks been to Nissan for this issue the truck will drive fine then drops speed and starts to surge with knocking in the motor with service light making it a danger on the highway the truck is currently at Nissan and it's been there going on a month.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/18/2024

Gas spilling out when refilling. Fuel tank had been whistling from beginning ownership in 2020 but no problem refilling. Most recently however gas will quickly overflow when attempting to fill. This has occurred several times recently, but it was never an issue before. Spillage is not dependent on tank volume. Spillage occurs when low and/ or mostly filled. I have to trickle gas from pump in order to fill, but this takes quite a while to put in several gallons. If I attempt to fill normally gas will come gushing out after a few seconds.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/23/2024

Engines blown. Needs new engine.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/07/2024

I have owned this vehicle since day one. . . This was meticulously maintained and serviced regularly. While sitting at an idle, with no prior warning, the vehicle just stopped running. After having diagnosed by a reputable diesel mechanic near me, it was determined that the cp4 fuel pump, known to be faulty in these and other trucks as well had failed. After extensive examination, it resulting in a catastrophic failure of the fuel system, ultimately requiring a $14, 000+ repair. (unrealistic cost due to the current value of the truck being around $10k - $14k. Metal chards had been distributed all throughout the entire fuel system. This failure is unfortunately very common and Nissan or cummins should be held accountable for this issue.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/30/2024

The vehicle has loss of power and goes into limp mode unexpectedly. It has done this numerous times on the interstate and regular roads. It is a safety hazard. This has occurred on several dates and we were lucky to be able to pull over safely. We we traveling in georgia last month and Nissan didn't even have a qualified diesel tech with 3 hours of where we were. We have had ten of thousands of dollars of work to the truck and it still is not fixed. They replaced the computer screen, wiring harness, and I believe parts of the exhaust system. They had the truck for months.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/19/2024

When driving my fuel gage shows a quarter tank but my tank is empty. Other 2009 Nissan Titans, they have the recall from March 2010. But my VIN doesnt have it. Even though im having the exact same issue.

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/08/2024

Went to pull out onto main road and the truck refused to accelerate instead it started to miss and lose power then the check engine light came on and the reduce engine power warning was displayed. Shortly after that the truck died and will not start. A scan of the engine codes reveled a p0087 fuel rail/system pressure too low bank 1 code. It appears that the bosch cp4 fuel injector pump failed. Right before the engine died there was loud noises coming from the drivers side of the truck which sounded like it was coming from the engine compartment.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/20/2024

While driving my 2016 Nissan Titan xd cummins (86,000 miles) on the highway, the engine started making a loud clacking noise, followed by a loud breaking or displacement sound. The check engine light did not come on, and the truck did not go into limp mode. Possible issues might be crankshaft or bearing failure, piston or connecting rod damage, or a valve train problem. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no prior warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before this failure. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer or service center.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/05/2024

Vehicle showed over a quarter tank of fuel and shut off unexpectedly in a corner.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 05/09/2024

There is an issue with the fuel gauge. Not reading correctly and running out of gas. Needle is at half tank and it has run out of fuel. I’ve had this happen to me multiple times. Gage reads more than I physically have. I’ve even ran out of fuel on the freeway.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

At about 120,000 miles, my transmission started searching for gears shattering going in limp mode while in drive and then ultimately dying while on the highway. Also, my leaf springs are completely loose. You can just pull them out when you have the truck up on the lift.

22 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/29/2023

My fuel gauge on my truck does not work properly. When my gauge shows a quarter tank full its completely empty. The reason I know it doesn't is because it died on me in the middle of an intersection and blocked traffic. The gauge still showed a quarter tank of gas. I had it towed to an auto repair shop and they ended up putting a few gallons of fuel in it and then it started. I do see that there is a recall for this exact issue ( campaign # r1010 and NHTSA # 10v-074 )and I would like to have it repaired before any serious accident happens.

23 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/21/2023

I purchased this vehicle in 2022 with 62000 miles on it for $45000, cash first newer vehicle ever paid for in cash, 1st day I drove it, check engine light for turbo failure came on, I normally put 80-100k miles on a vehicle per year, ive owned over 200 diesel vehicles in last 25 years, never have I had one stay in the shop more than driving it. Not only does it stay in the shop, but you have to locate a shop that still has a diesel technician employed. Two turbo actuator replacements, lift pump replacement, 18 shop visits for check engine lights, 5 times in a row at buford GA Nissan, drove away and light came back on before making it home. December 21,2023 my family and I was driving to florida , doing 55mph, no check engine lights, no noises, no warnings, motor shut down in 21 degree weather, side of 285 in tucker georgia for 4 hours waiting for a tow truck, only thing on screen was def error see dealer immediately, $550 to tow vehicle back to my house because closest dealership did not have a diesel tech, spent two months to find a company that would tow my truck 55 miles from gainesville georgia to roswell georgia to regal Nissan, the girl called me and said it needed a starter for $900plus dollars, I laughed and said theres no way in hell a starter caused this motor to die, I informed her that if starter did not work I was not paying, two days later she calls me back up and informs me the motor is locked up, does not know why, but pay them $178 diagnosis fee, and for $1300-$2000 they could tell me exactly what failed, if u read online, trucks like mine fail between 50000-100000 miles with no warning no nothing! I am now stuck with another $330 tow bill to pick vehicle up and store it at my shop and pray that your organization can hold Nissan accountable, Nissans reccomendation was for $30000 to put the exact same unmodified garbage of a motor back in this truck, please somebody hold this company accountable!!!!!! thanks.

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

Fuel sender unit doesn’t work. Doesn’t log when the tank is full stays on empty at all times. Research shows this is a known issue with other Nissan models but I don’t see a recall for this model.

25 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/26/2023

On highway with no warning truck started to shake with smoke. Lost power. Engine seized. 92000kms. Injector stuck open cracked piston. . . Had to buy new engine, Nissan didn t want to hear ianything, I live in canada.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/06/2023

Driving highway speed. Truck shut down with no warning.

27 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

Engine failure with a broken crankshaft. - front driveshaft replaced. - rear driveshaft replaced. - transfer case replaced. - real output shaft seal replaced. - steering gearbox replaced. - idler arm replaced. - body wiring harness replaced. - lift pump replaced.

28 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/17/2023

From day one, it has had a hesitation on acceleration from both still and moving normal highway speeds. Rarely is acceleration steady, smooth and immediate. Dealer has had for regular oil change and this problem has been reported every time . Answer was that factory recall was performed and should be better. But no. Over a year now, several visits and nothing resolved. A couple times when I needed that immediate acceleration but with severe hesitation and a semi truck hitting his brakes and blowing horn I would call it a safety problem. Im not sure what work was preformed, assuming most time transmission but after research on computer there have been Nissans with engine components causing this. Please help. Where do I go from here?.

29 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 07/03/2023

Lift pump failure. Part # 16400-ez40b. This part has been replaced by dealer three times in the past year. Seems to last for about 8k-10k miles or so. Vehicle won't start when lift pump goes out just a warning of "low fuel pressure". Then has to be towed to dealer.

30 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 06/26/2023

I tow full-time as a working nomad. My truck has gone into limp-mode (low-power mode) onto a complete loss of power. I have been stranded on 3 difference occasions. The issue first began at 75,000 miles which I have records of. After this most recent incident, I realized there was a pattern emerging. After further research, I have discovered that there is a lawsuit out for these cp4 fuel systems. I called Nissan and opened a case number. They processed and then stated that they will not assist me since I am not over 100k miles. My odometer is currently at 105k miles. I am not sure if it is safe to drive my truck and I need to relocate soon. What options do I have? can anything be done about this? from what I am reading online, this is a $10,000 - $15,000 to fix, let alone the thousands of dollars I have already spent on varying part replacements. Nissan/cummins designed this truck to work with the fuel being sold in europe. The fuel in the us does not offer the lubrication required to function properly and it’s causing friction on metal which is sending metal shavings in through the fuel system. The fuel filters cannot handle the debris. The only warning signs I received from the vehicle was a dash warning stating low power / no power mode had been engaged as I lost power and had to roll to a stop on the side of the road. Thankfully I was able to get over to safety each time. Then, I stayed stranded on the side of the road (single female traveling alone with dogs) until I was able to figure things out. Nissan refused to tow or offer any support. Existing lawsuit: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

31 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 04/20/2023

I am writing in regards to a recall that has previously been serviced on my vehicle. I bought my 2008 Nissan Titan through a private party on 4/16/23. The truck had no issues until 4/20/23. The fuel gauge read that I had a quarter tank of gas. However I was driving to work that morning and all of a sudden the truck acted as if it would when one runs out of fuel. I was not able to use the breaks and the steering was near impossible. I was frightened as I had my baby in the truck with me and I easily could have caused an accident not being able to use my breaks especially. Once I got to the side of the road and we stopped "coasting" I called for help. I did have an individual bring me some gas just incase that could have been the issue. Sure enough once I put fuel in it the truck started up and I got to the closet gas station to fuel up. Come to find out once my gas gauge reads a quarter tank it is in fact empty. The truck had a recall serviced on 4/16/2010 to replace the fuel gauge sending unit. I took the truck in to be serviced on 4/24/23 because of the issue I experienced. I was told that it was more than likely the sending unit and it would cost me $600-$800 to have it fixed. Why should I have to pay for a cost that has already been serviced once? is there a warranty on a recall that has already been serviced? can this possibly be a defect in the recall that was already serviced?.

32 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 04/06/2023

On highway leaving stoplight, with no warning truck started shaking. Would not accelerate. Got off highway, luckily and the engine had seized.

33 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/02/2022

While driving in normal driving conditions, the auto at 30 mph will rev the rpms up to as much as 5000 rpm before the transmission will catch and accelerate loosing the ability to accelerate on demand when needed such as merging on to a highway of speeds of 55 mph or higher. This behavior happens almost every single time acceleration is demanded and is not due to a lack of atf fluid in the transmission. As the vehcile has done this after the local service center of Nissan in my area had just done the 20k mile check up. This has been on going and constant behavior since I purchased this Nissan Titan in 2021. Truck currently has 35k, and has had all service suggestions done. This is a danger to my family and myself as lack of power can cause extreme danagers when you are trying to gain speed to merge onto a busy highway and you are running out of roadway to gain speed and you have to use the emergency lane to have access to safe area to gain enough speed to safely merge. This is a well known issue with this model, as I have been seeing other owners complain for sometime online in forums, when I researched if anyone else had this issue.

34 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/01/2022

My vehicle was driving down the highway at 70 mph when without any warning the engine shut off resulting in the loss of power steering. I had to navigate through traffic to get to the shoulder of the road. I had the vehicle towed to Nissan dealership after a couple weeks I was made aware that the engine needed to be replaced. The truck suffered. A broken crankshaft and main fuel components were replaced as well.

35 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/04/2022

Truck stalled in the middle of the road due to fuel gauge sending unit failing to send correct info on how much gas was actually in the tank. It shows approx 1/4 tank of gas no matter how much gas it actually contains. Recall 10v074000.
