36 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/14/2018

I went in to get a truck on July 11th. . . They had to get the truck started by jumping the battery that they said would be replaced. While rushing us without offering a test drive insurring the truck was sound and mechanically stable. We then drove off in the 2004 Nissan Titan and all the lights on the dash came on shortly after. Vrd abs and brake as well as check engine light. The brakes then went out on us as we reached out home. The next day we informed them of what happened, they said it was just water on the brakes to give it a day and see what it does. It happened again and when we took it back they said the mechanic was gone to come back. Thats when we noticed the cara registration was for another vehicle and started to wonder if they had taken the car to emmisions at all. Check engine light was om since we left the lot. Before our first payment I spent $900 on parts had roadside called 4 times and replaced the battery. The truck didnt last to the first payment. Completely lost all braking power. This truck was taken to a mechanic that told us it would not have passed emissions when we got it because the history on the check engine light showed it was only cleared and not addressed.

37 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/06/2018

Break sign appears on dashboard while driving the vehicle. Strange noises come from brakes and breaks does not apply properly. It happened many times in the past and I pull over safely, turn the engine off and turn the engine on break sign is gone and breaks start working ok. Then it happens again and again. Very unsafe to pull the car on side of busy highway, then turn the engine off and on.

38 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 09/05/2018

I own a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup which I drive mainly in the winter due to my job requiring me to go into work in every snow storm. I have only 128,000 mi on my truck. The truck sits in the summer to save on gas. After the truck sat for three months this summer had to change a leaky oil pan from rust. Once that was fixed I took it out to ready it for inspection. While driving came to a stop sign brake pedal went to floor. Tried pumping pedal and had no brakes at all. Engaged the e brake and had very little yet next to no stopping from that. Ended up constantly pumping brakes with no secondary circuit engaging. I continued to go through 2 more stop signs before I was able to coast to a stop. Luckily it was later at night and there wasn't many cars on the road or I would have been in a bad accident. After getting the truck towed home I had pulled the left front inner fender liner out to discover 2 junction blocks with 3 lines coming in and going out. All three lines had burst at the same time causing me to loose all brakes. I took a picture of this so everyone can see. Nissan should provide an extra covering or something to keep the road salt from getting to these lines because as these trucks get older I am sure people will experience the same thing as me but, may not be as lucky to avoid a bad crash.

41 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/06/2018

Our 2016 Nissan Titan xd was idling on a level carport with the parking brake engaged. No one was in the cab of the truck. I was unloading tools from the back of the truck. After about 5-7 minutes, while I was standing in the bed of the truck, the engine revved and the truck began to roll very slowly backwards. It rolled over a small concrete bump (intended to prevent cars from rolling off the carport), down about a 6 inch step down, across another 10 feet or so of concrete and into the brick wall at the back of the carport. I did not have time to safely jump down, open the truck door and engage the brake. The total distance the truck rolled was less than 10 yards. The tailgate of the truck was damaged badly when it hit the brick wall, but it helped to stop the truck. When I got into the truck to drive it back up onto the parking area of the carport, the parking brake was still engaged. I disengaged it to shift into drive. We have had issues in the past with the engine revving and extremely hard shifting between gears. There is also a heavy smell of exhaust inside the cab of the truck very often. The smell is strong enough to cause headaches. We usually have to crack the window when this happens. It happens intermittently, but often. I am not sure if what happened today was a brake problem, engine problem or transmission problem, but this is an extremely concerning safety issue.

49 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 10/10/2015

The tail pipe on a 2 1/2 year old 2012 Nissan Titan prematurely separated at the flange in front of the rear axle. The reason the flange separated was the poor design. The flange is positioned to hold water, dirt and salt inducing corrosion. Once the flange separates the heat from the exhaust melts the rear main wiring harness in less than 100 miles of driving. The melted harness causes failure to the fuel pump circuit resulting in an engine stall situation at highway speed, which results in loss of power steering, power brake assist and anti lock brakes. The affected portion of the rear harness also controls the stop, turn and tail lamp circuits. The failure and resulting damage to the wiring has potential to create an extremely dangerous driving situation.

Emergency brake and rear brakes got covered in gear oil because the rear differential seal leaking. It started spewing all over the place and when I tried to come to a stop it took way longer than normal forcing me to swerve to miss a pedestrian and hitting the curb and a bush. This should be a safety recall because the differential leaking on the brakes is definitely a safety concern.

I looked on the back side and rear end dope was on the back of my wheel. The wheel seal has went out. Come to find out looks like the rear diffrential has been sealed up before. So, its a problem with the Nissan Titan rear end seals and diffrential seal. It creates a safety hazard getting on the brakes. The wheel could catch on fire.

61 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

They have been making Titan ics since 2004 and there have been re calls due to the trailer brake control circuit failing due to bad body control modules. I believe all Titan ics need to be re called for this issue. My Titan ic will not work with 2 different brake controllers by 2 different manufacturers. Best to not attempt to tow anything that requires a brake control due to this on going problem for any year Titan ic. 2 bad for me it is out of warranty by a few months and the re sale value is very low for all Nissan due to poor quality.

65 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

Just last Friday (03-15-2013) afternoon, while looking over the truck- I decided to look underneath it to give it a once over. Earlier in the week I had noticed the brake pedal kind of spongy(especially in the morning). I thought there might be a problem with the brakes. To my surprise I found that both rear axles were splattered with fluid(axle grease). I had read that this was a problem with early model Titans. I went into a Titan forum and found there were a lot of folks, that owned these trucks-having the same problem. In the forum there was this very site to report this issue. So thus this writing.

66 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

Axle seal failure resulting in oil on the inside of both rear wheels and oil soaking rear brakes rendering rear brakes useless.

68 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 11/06/2012

Rear axel seal is leaking for the third time, which can compromise the rear brakes with axel fluid. Nissan made the first repair at 30,000 miles under warranty. I paid for parts and made repairs myself the second time. Now at the third I have contacted Nissan consumer affairs, and they have refused, with no explanation, to help with this repair, even though they issued an internal service bulletin in 2010, to replace the complete axel with bearing and seal. So Nissan is aware that they have an issue with the early model Titans. I guess they are waiting for someone to be seriously injured or die before they address this issue.

69 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 08/23/2012

The rear axle oil seal leaks onto the rear brakes causing them to not work.
