The contact owns a 2025 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated the vehicle failed to exceed 45 mph. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle lost motive power and the vehicle entered limp mode. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle independently reset. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,800.
Purchased brand new 2024 Nissan Versa January 2025. In April 2025 with only 1100 miles on the engine the cvt failed. Nissan replaced it with a rebuilt cvt. On August 7th 2025 the second cvt failed and the car had to be towed in. This is a dangerous situation and I have told Nissan they need to buy back the car from me. I live in phoenix which has many dangerous highways and if the engine failed on one of those highways it could cost me my life because when it fails it goes into what the tow truck drivers call limp mode and I can't go more than 5 to 10 miles an hour on a highway where people routinely drive 80 miles an hour.

Loss of power when using turn signal on highway changing lanes and making left or right turn on city streets. Once the signal is off I can accelerate. Left turn signal becomes more rapid as well. The Versa has a manual transmission. Recurring issue for a month.

Recently began driver training on this vehicle with my son (at approximate vehicle mileage of 12,500). Vehicle is manual transmission and had never previously been stalled. Once vehicle had been stalled during driver training, reduced vehicle power was available, creating an unsafe condition when attempting to merge into traffic or driving on an uphill grade. The issue produced no warning message or cel but did produce a pending obdii error code of p2615 (camshaft signal output circuit low). The error appears to resolve after a full restart (shut down, unlock and open door, close door, restart). The error is reproducible and has occurred on multiple occasions. The error does not reset if simply restarting vehicle without opening door between restart. I have scheduled an appointment for evaluation by dealer, but it has not yet been confirmed by dealer. I believe this is a manufacturing defect, as the same issue occurs on another identical car owned by me.

Driving slowly on 4 lane highway. Unexpected driver movement in another car causes emergency stop which stalled engine. On restart engine has very low power 2024 Versa stick shift.
Engine slowing down during acceleration, transmission not changing gears, and jittery driving during 40-55 mph.

I have serval codes from varies companies, o'reilly's, luther Nissan dearlership from April to June 2025, the code is p0012, camshaft. The vehicle intermittently does not have power and I could easily be rear ended. Even thought luther Nissan has had code p0012, camshaft they have not fixed it. I brought it to luther Nissan 3 times since 4/22/25 to 6/2/25. Luther said,"valvoline put transmission fluid in oil, said they drove it for 100 miles and found nothing, said old and current code on the same day and finally said you need a new battery. I bought a new battery. It happened again and I brought to a different certified shop on 7/11/25. Waiting to hear back. I have very detailed paperwork and many family/neighbors know. If I have an accident they know to sue luther and Nissan.
New 2024 Versa s 5 speed purchased in Aug 2024 from jim click Nissan dealership in tucson, az. I brought it in to Nissan dealership 2 months later 4200 mi, for complaints of surging, fluctuating fan speeds with air conditioning on high & to check alternator. They couldn’t reproduce problem. It continues to persist to this day as I write this on 4/20/25. Alternator values show 13. 46 v with load off, 12. 29 v with load on. Nissan dealership denies alternator or ac fan problems and no action taken despite 3 service visits/complaints. On [xxx] I attempted to accelerate out of the dealership parking lot. With no warning signs or check engine light, car had power loss and unable to accelerate: rpms would rev to 3500 in gears 1-3 but car would only reach 35 mph max with full throttle. In 4th gear, max throttle, engine rpm’s would not exceed 2250 rpm’s. I continued through 4 miles of local street traffic to reach home, including an anxious moment making a left turn at traffic light narrowly missing oncoming traffic due to loss of acceleration. When I arrived home, I shut off engine and after 10 seconds restarted it and the problem was gone and able to drive normally. This was the first episode ever and experienced at 21,720 miles, and recurred again the following day after stalling on an incline at a right corner traffic light. I immediately restarted the ignition and applied throttle to ascend the incline and to avoid rolling backward to hit the car behind me, only to lose power & stall again. No check engine or warning lights displayed. After another attempted engine restart, I was able to advance & car drove normally. This limp mode power loss can be reproduced after engine stall from rapid clutch pedal release, followed by engine restart. Autozone alternator test on 4/19/25 revealed “charging system failure. ” on 4/22/25, Nissan dealership unable to reproduce limp mode despite my explicit instructions to quickly release clutch to stall, then restart. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of in.
I purchased my new 2024 Versa s 5 speed on [xxx] from jim click Nissan dealership in tucson, az. I brought it in to Nissan dealership 2 months later [xxx], 4200 mi, for complaints of surging, fluctuating fan speeds with air conditioning on high. They claim they couldn’t reproduce problem. It continues to persist to this day as I write this on 4/20/25. I checked the alternator myself with multimeter on 4/12/25 & it revealed acv ripple of 29-30 volts! battery at rest 12. 7 dcv, battery at idle 13. 8 dcv, battery 13. 9 dcv under load, and repeatedly producing same values on morning of [xxx], just minutes before bringing car in to jim click service appointment for follow up of fan fluctuations & request for alternator check up. However these data results conflict with jim click Nissan dealership diagnosis on 4/18/25 service visit when they stated and documented that the charging system tests all passed & alternator is fine, and witnessed no a/c fan fluctuation. Thus no repairs done, and sent me on my way. As soon as I drove off the dealership lot on that [xxx] evening, the car lost power and went into limp mode as I accelerated out of the parking lot, and continued through 4 miles of local street traffic until I arrived home and shut off engine. After a few minutes I restarted engine so that I could video record same limp mode issue but the problem was not evident after this engine restart. This was the first episode ever experienced and it occurred at approximately 21,720 miles, and recurred again the following day after stalling from early clutch pedal release, followed by engine restart. The episodes happen on both flat surface and slight incline. The faulty alternator must have a part in this, as surging alternating current is causing sensor malfunctioning affecting a/c fan speed and ecu communication. Autozone alternator test on 4/19/25 revealed “charging system failure. ” information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Car sometimes stall after releasing clutch too soon on first gear and goes into limp mode. Luckily I haven’t gotten hit from behind yet when this has happened but came close multiple times. The limp mode is what scares me that I will get into an accident.
Vehicle change to limp mode randomly. I need to stop turn all off wait 1 minute to restables the normal power on engine.

Rod, piston breaks and punctures tire after losing ability to steer, accelerate, brake. Manufacturer defect/recall on stated parts not revealed until after car crashed. No test drive given. Car began experiencing horrible loud banging noise immediately after leaving dealership. Was not offered to test drive. Took to dealer next day to check problem (noise) and was told nothing is wrong after taking to dealer. On way home, experienced erratic steering, unable to keep stable on highway. Rounded corner and the automobile completely failed to steer, brake, tire punctured by rod come to find out, a known defect straight from manufacturer was problem. No apology. Dealer will not take back new vehicle despite customer fears, claims to have fixed problem but not the body of vehicle stating customer had to go elsewhere to fix body with no offer of reimbursement for body work. No apologies for customer nearly escaping what could have easily been death as result of manufacturer defect. Purchased vehicle first without knowing of recall on part(s), was not informed of defect and if test drive was given, car would not have been taken by customer.
I had experienced a power loss. I could not go over 50 mph on the highway. I'm a new driver so I believe this was because I've been stalling it quite a bit and restarting the car.
I am writing to report a potential safety and design defect in my vehicle that I have also noticed affecting many other owners of the same make and model. The issue involves the rubber seal at the edge of the windshield, which is supposed to prevent water from entering the engine bay. However, the rubber is not properly secured—it merely sits in place—allowing water to pass underneath it. As a result, water accumulates on the valve cover near the ignition coil, creating a risk of electrical problems, including misfires or potential engine failure. Over time, this could lead to serious mechanical and safety issues. After researching, I have found that many other owners of the same vehicle have experienced this same problem. I believe this issue poses a safety concern and should be investigated further. Please advise on any next steps or potential recalls regarding this matter. Thank you for your time and attention.
Car has manual transmission: if engine stalls from starting on a hill or any other reason, when restarted it runs on limp mode with severe loss of power. Problem usually resolves on next restart, but may take up to 2 restarts to resolve. Issue was reported to buckeye Nissan, hilliard ohio on 11/08/23. At that date it had occurred 3 times in the first 1,200 miles. As of 02/24/25 it has occurred approximately 15 additional times within the first 19,000 miles. Potential danger in that most stalls occur from start at traffic light, and if left turn is made at traffic light after restart, there is not enough power to avoid oncoming traffic, merge onto freeway etc. This condition is easily reproduced with an intentional stall.
It's happened three times now that the car will simply fail to accelerate no matter how much the pedal is pushed. It is extremely dangerous because this has happened on the freeway and caused us to pull over and wait for the car to become responsive again. This is an automatic transmission. There doesn't seem to be an active recall for this and I can't understand why as I see online a lot of people reporting the same issue. This is dangerous and unacceptable for a new car. It was bought new off the lot and has minimal mileage.
Has an issue with the mass flow air sensor. I had this car for 7 months with 84,000 miles on it and noticed instantly that it had poor mileage and stalled a lot. Check engine came on the first time and I took it to have a diagnostic test and a p101 code came on, a couple of days later the car wouldn't start. Replaced the mass flow air sensor and the car was driveable but it had the same poor gas mileage and stalling that it did the first time. Went out again within a week for the 2nd time. Got it replaced recently a third time and im still having acceleration, poor gas mileage, and stalling. Car isn't safe to drive and does not pass the smog test .
My 2024 Nissan Versa s goes into a "limp mode" almost any time I stall and then turn the engine back on. In this limp mode, acceleration is dangerously slow. Often acceleration is so weak that if I drive up a hill in this limp mode, the car will lose speed even while I'm pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor. This can easily be reproduced and inspected by purposely stalling the car in a quiet parking lot and then trying to accelerate out onto a road. In this mode I cannot reach safe speeds on major roads in a timely manner. I have to turn my hazards on and let people go around me as I accelerate for a full minute. On highways and major roads with higher speed limits this is quite dangerous. When stuck in this mode I do not have the ability to accelerate fast enough to get out of the way of any oncoming danger. If this mode turns on in a safe quiet area, I may be able to turn the car off and on until the issue goes away, but if I stall at a busy traffic light, I'm now in a dangerous situation until I can get off the road and to a safe spot to turn off the car and test that the limp mode has gone away. Also, turning the car off and on doesn't always work. I have on two separate occasions been stuck in limp mode for multiple drives. The Nissan dealership in wake forest, nc confirmed that they know about this issue and said they don't currently have a fix for it. A check engine light has turned on two times after entering limp mode, they erased the code and it has never come back since despite still going into limp mode.
While driving down the highway, the vehicle significantly lost power while going up a hill, so much so that I had to downshift into 2nd gear in order to maintain and not lose speed. This is incredibly dangerous as I was only able to climb the hill at about 20 mph while the flow over traffic was 55 mph.
Manual transmission barely responded to acceleration with gas pedal to the floor (literally the gas pedal was engaged as far as it would go). The sluggish response was present in all five gears. To restate, the car was extremely sluggish - it barely accelerated. This has been an episodic issue that has occurred about six times over the course of 8 months. In additional details, I put in the date of the most recent occurrence but it has happened multiple times since purchasing the car new in April 2024.
Car is hacked through the emergency s. O. S systm. Can hear people everyday talking and making telephone calls. I can hear a dispacth with raidos like security of some sort. Even when car battery not in car, hackers still are able to speak through the s. O. S withouth me pushing anything. Hackers were able to change control cruise control, slow my speed down, turn engine light on/off, locate my every move.

I went to take off and cross traffic and lost all power to my car it would barley move. I was almost hit by a semi truck. This is not the first time this has happened either. My car is barely a year old. It had no warning light on or anything. I have to stop, shut my car off, take the keys out and let it set then restart it for it to start working right.
Critical loss of power on the highway nearly causing multi-car accident and personal injury. No warning lights. No notice of any kind. The car would not rev or accelerate regardless of gear or effort. Would not fix after trying to restart the car several times once I was able to get somewhere safe and calm down. This is the 5th time this has happened in 1,600 miles but 1st time on a +25 mph road, other times driving down the street to school. Brand new car purchased in August. 33 Nissan (dealer) has had the car over a week and cannot replicate or find any codes. Car is unsafe to drive, yet dealer states to "come and get it". Contacting attorney. This is not driver error: I have solely driven manual transmission cars for the past 20 years.
I’ve read other other complaints about this make/ model car and my car does all of those things. First the acceleration at rand times my car will not accelerate whether it be pulling out of a parking space, sitting at a red light, making a turn etc. Have took to a mechanic because this issue and my check engine light was on due to the mass air flow sensor or filter got that fixed and car still does the same thing. Second when playing music through bluetooth the radio just randomly restarts after playing approx 3 songs. Next the forward and back collision , abs system lights make an appearance on the dash whenever they feel like it. The emergency breaking system forward and back breaks for me when nothing is behind my car or I’m a great deal behind another car. The car now cuts off while driving. My passenger side door does not lock when pressed on the key fob with all of the other doors. The remote start does not work at all. The trunk does not open when pressed on the key fob either. The lighter port does not have any power. I did buy this car used for being 5 years old and having 71,000 miles I thought that I was getting a somewhat decent deal but that is not the case, I do not feel safe in this car nor do I get to enjoy any of the features of “having a newer car”.
I stalled my vehicle (5-speed manual) in a drive through. I quickly restarted the vehicle and proceeded through. When I pulled out onto the main road my car had no power. There was nowhere safe to pull over so I had to continue. My car would not accelerate above 20mph and even that was extremely hard. I had to downshift to 1st gear to proceed up the hill. Finally, I was able to pull off and restart my car. This fixed the issue and I was able to drive home. I’ve not stalled the car before so I had never experienced this issue. I’ve read about it, and having it happen is terrifying. Had the car who was driving behind me been going faster, I likely would have been hit when I pulled out of the drive through. This is extremely dangerous.
Vehicle loses power, ability to accelerate and is unable reach a speed above 35-40 mph regardless of gear (manual transmission) or downshifting, requiring you to pull off road; has occurred four times now. After turning vehicle off and restarting, operation is normal. Nissan dealer checked and pulled up a code regarding coded keys and reprogrammed keys; could not replicate the power/acceleration issue. Problem still re-occurred. There are no warnings, warning lights or symptoms until you accelerate.
My 2024 Nissan Versa 5 speed has gone into limp mode approximately 4 times in 6 months. When this happens you can’t accelerate which could be a great safety issue.
Car stalled on highway. Car would not push pass 20 mph no matter how much I pressed on the gas. Eventually car stopped moving and this happened on the highway while I was driving normally and then it slowed down and then stopped. This happened before about 5 months ago and I turned car off and it drove again so didn't think of an issue until today when it happened again and didn't move. I had to wait 2hrs for a tow to the Nissan dealer for service in the morning.
Vehicle would not accelerate past 55 mph after stalling. No warning. Got on the highway and the car was extremely lagging and the accelerator produced no response. Floored the vehicle and still nothing. Had to pull over and cycle the key 5x to fix the issue. I have stalled a few times, and this was the first time to “limp mode” occurred. The vehicle can be inspected at request of NHTSA. I believe it’s a common issue with these Nissans based on what I’ve read from forums.
I just purchased my 2024 Nissan Versa two weeks ago August 24, 2024. Since I have had it my car doesn’t seem to want to shift speed like it should. My transmission seems to be stalling to change out. My car also constantly makes a growling noise when left I’m on my brakes sitting. I took my car back to the dealerships and they tried tell me that it was the compressor which is false my ac nor my defrost is on. I really need this problem resolved. The noise it’s making is unbelievable coming from a brand new car.
I recently purchased a brand new Nissan Versa, and I've been experiencing a serious issue with it. The car loses power after stalling while I'm driving, whether on the highway or in city traffic. What's alarming is that there are no warnings before this happens. Not being able to maintain a speed above 30 mph on the freeway is extremely dangerous, as I can't accelerate to avoid potential hazards. This problem occurred just 4 days ago, and the car only had 500 miles on it at the time. I took it to the dealership, but they informed me that they can't assist until I've made my first payment on the car. Given the severity of the issue, I believe this situation needs urgent attention.
Upon stalling the vehicle goes into limp mode not allowing me to rev the engine above 3000 rpm or travel faster than roughly 30mph. This issue only happened after stalling but is very concerning to me.
Reduced engine power after restarting the vehicle. Stalled the manual transmission equipped vehicle when pulling out of my driveway. Restarted and drove without any warning lights or indication there was an issue. Roads were mostly down hill and through numerous red lights so vehicle appeared to be driving normally. Noticed the issue about a mile later when trying to drive up a highway on-ramp. There was traffic from the other direction so I had to come to a complete stop at the base of the hill. Once in second gear it was apparent there was not enough power to accelerate and merge onto highway. Pulled over and shut off vehicle. Removed key from ignition. Opened and closed drivers door. Started engine, waited for traffic to clear, drove up on-ramp without issue. Have not had an opportunity to return to dealer. Vehicle drives normally now. This is the first time I noticed this issue even though I have stalled and restarted the engine numerous times, vehicle seemed to drive normally afterwards. I have read others have a similar issue and that NHTSA is investigating it.
Over 5 times since new (vehicle currently has ~6000 mils) the vehicle has went into a sort of reduced power limp mode while driving. Sometimes has occurred after stalling the engine (stick shift). When in this mode there are no warning lights; you can press on the gas pedal to 100% but does not fully perform as it should. I would estimate it's at around 25% power when having the issue. Seems the same as investigation: pe24007 proof of issue -> [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
